CHAPTER 3
IN LONDON (RISHABH)
Rishabh woke up the next day with a good mood and he had a smile on his face which was missing since a long time. He decided to wake up Kukki that day. As he reached her bed room he found her sleeping on her small bed hugging closer the teddy that he gifted her in her 5th birthday.
He felt bad for neglecting Kukki to such an extent that she felt that he does not love her anymore. This sudden realization made him feel terrible. He quietly sat beside her on her bed careful about not to wake her up.
Rishabh:“Forgive me princess. I know I had hurt you a lot because I could not get over the pain of being separated from your mother. I have been wrong to you my princess. Please forgive me. But Papa loves you the most in the world.”
He took Kukki’s hand in his large ones and kissed her hand and kept it closer to his heart thinking Kukki to be sleeping. But little did he knew that she had woken up the very moment he entered the room but she has pretended to be asleep because she thought that if she wakes up then he will go away leaving her. But when she felt him kissing her hands and holding it close to his heart, she could not control herself anymore and woke up and hugged Rishabh with all her might.
Rishabh was pleasantly surprised to see her awake and hugged her back almost immediately. Kukki was crying hiding her face in the crook of his neck. Rishabh kept stroking her back to calm her down. Finally she calmed down and Rishabh cupped her face and kissed her forehead and said: “I am sorry princess.”
Kukki: “It’s ok papa. I love you the most.”
Rishabh:“But papa loves you more and he will never leave you.”
Kukki made puppy eyes and said: “Promise”
Rishabh:“papa promise. Today we are going to have fun and spend time with Sharda dadi and Tanvi Bua. Come let’s go and have breakfast and then we will go for children’s park.”
Kukki smiled at Rishabh and kissed him on both his cheeks. Both of them went for breakfast unaware of the teary pair of eyes that watched them from a distance.
It was none other than Sharda who came there to wake up Kukki as Tanvi was busy arranging breakfast. She felt immensely happy that Rishabh has finally made peace with his past and spending some quality time with Kukki. Smilingly she also went to have breakfast.
On the other hand Sharda came down for breakfast and Rishabh smiled at her and hugged her saying: “Tanvi get ready after the breakfast. We will have lunch at a restaurant today. Today we all are going for a single-day vacation.”
Kukki got double excited listening that they will have lunch outside. They hurriedly completed the breakfast and left for getting ready. For the first time after leaving India, Rishabh finally felt at peace.
IN BASU BADI (PRERNA)
Prerna woke up with a terrible headache and immediately got ready to leave for the orphanage because she did not want to see Anurag with his so-called wife Sonalika. She decided to talk to him once regarding Sonalika because her heart still believed rather she thought her heart still believed that Anurag still loved her as true love can never be forgotten.
She wen tto the terrace as she knew that Anurag has a habit of watching the sunrise from terrace. As she expected he was there.
Prerna: “Good morning, Anurag”
Anurag: “Morning Prerna. How are you?”
Prerna: “I am fine. What about you?”
Anurag: “I am completely fine, all thanks to Sonalika. She is my angel. Sweet, beautiful,lovely angel. You know Prerna when I opened my eyes first at the hospital she was there. I was confused but the sedatives made me go sleepy once again. The next time when I woke up it was nighttime. She was still there sleeping on the couch inside the room. One look at her and I fell in love with her. You know she was looking breath-takingly beautiful in the dim light of the room. When I got discharged she took me to her flat and appointed three people to take care of me. Then one day I came to know that her father is getting her married forcibly.”
Anurag shivered remembering that horrible day. Prerna who had tears running down her eyes, quickly wiped them and helped Anurag to sit down. The shivering was enough for Prerna to understand how much Anurag loves Sonalika. But curiosity is very much dangerous.
Prerna:“What happened then, Anurag?”
Anurag: “When I reached there, I was shocked. The groom was minimum 55 in age. I shouted Sonalika’s name and leaving the dias and her family behind, she ran to me and hugged me. That moment a relief ran through me and I confronted her father and married her in that same dias in front of her family and now we are here as husband and wife.”
A sound of shattering glass made both of them come out of their thinking. When they looked back they saw Sonalika cleaning the glass pieces with a blank face. Prerna was confused whereas Anurag understood everything and rushed to her. Suddenly A glass pierced Sonalika's hand and blood started oozing out. Anurag hurriedly brought the first aid and started applying. He even scolded her to make her speak something but she remained with a blank expression. Anurag could not see his beloved in this state so he hugged her and pressed his lips on her forehead. That was all Sonalika needed to break down. She hugged Anurag and started sobbing silently hiding her face in thecrook of her neck.
The couple held onto each other completely forgetting that Prerna was also present there. Prerna understood that she has lost Anurag forever to Sonalika. She quietly packed her bags and left Basu Badi and Anurag behind forever.
