Chapter 7:-

Rishabh opened his eyes to see her sleeping, using his arm as a pillow. His lips curved into a smile.

Not wanting to disturb her and her sleep, he let her use his arm as a pillow. He checked the time. 5 AM. The clock showed.

He placed a light kiss on her forehead and closed his eyes. But he didn't got sleep easily.

How beautifully his life changed! He got the Family he always dreamt of.

He sighed at his fate. In his Previous marriage, he dreamt of living a happy life with his daughter and his wife. But alas, fate had other plans for him. Menka rejected him, his love and their new born baby and went away. This resulted in his cold heart, devoid of love.

But, Prerna came and awoke in him the feelings of love, which he had buried deep in his heart.

'I promise, Prerna. I will always be with you, even if you go away from me. You gave me a lot, Prerna...'

Next morning-

' Kukki...Zidd nahi karte!' Prerna said to her girl while plaiting her hair.

' But Mumma...I want to stay with you two today. Aap dono bahar jaoge. Mujhe bhi jaana hai.'

' We are going to the doctor, Kukki. So that Mumma and your baby brother or sister stays fine.' said Rishabh as he entered the room.

'Mumma Ko kuchh hua hai kya?' Tears pooled in Kukki's eyes.

' No beta. We are fine. Don't you want baby to come out safely? That is why we are going to the doctor.' said Prerna and kissed her forehead.

' Accha Kukki, how will it be if we go for lunch today after you return home from school?' Rishabh asked.

' Yayy...You are the best, Papa!' she hugged him.

'Ab chalo, breakfast time!' Said Rishabh and took her in a piggy back hug.

Prerna followed the Dad- daughter duo to the dinning table.

Rishabh sat with Kukki in his lap. Prerna sat beside him. Chandu served cornflakes to Kukki and veggies and juice to Prerna.

' Rishabh...' Prerna made a sulky face.

' Kya hua?'

' Brocoli phirse?'

' Pasand nahi hai kya?'

' Aisi baat nahi hai...par har Roz ek hi type ka khana. I want to eat something different. Baby wants it too.' said Prerna and caressed her belly lovingly.

' Accha, toh aapko kya khana hai?' Rishabh asks softly, while feeding Kukki.

' Chocolate waffles.' Prerna said dreamily.

' Her favourite.' Anurag said, absent minded.

All the heads turned to him. Prerna gave him a weird look.

'How does he know about my favourites? And who is he?'

Rishabh could read her thoughts.

He pressed her hand lightly. He whispered to her,'Aapke saare questions ke answers aapko main dunga.' she felt assured. She nodded.

' Mujhe Chocolate waffles khana hai!'

' Now?'

' Yes, now...Abhi khana hai. Yeh bakwas khana main aur nahi khane wali. Baby Ko bhi Yeh pasand nahi!'

' Her cravings have started, Rishabh. Ab jhelo.'

Mohini and Tapur made a displeased face while Nivedita got lost in her own world. Anurag looked sad.

' Chandu...' Rishabh called.

' Yes, sir.'

' Tell the cook to make chocolate waffles for Prerna.'

' Okay, Sir.'

Prerna flashed her priceless smile.

' Thank you so much!!!'

Rishabh had a hard time to control his smile at the cute antics of his wife when she relished on the waffles.

Rishabh went to drop Kukki to school.

Prerna entered their room and saw papers scattered all over the couch.

' Yeh Rishabh bhi na. Itna workaholic Kyun hain woh?' she huffed and started arranging the papers.

' How many times I have to tell you to take rest, Prerna?' asked Maasi as she entered the room.

' Oh Maasi...aap...mujhe toh Laga ki Rishabh hai...Darr gyi thi main...'

Prerna heaved a sigh of relief.

' Phirse kaam karna rhi hai? Iss halat mein kaam nahi karte.'

' Par Maasi...akele baithe baithe bore ho jaati hoon.' Prerna pouted.

' Chalo baitho.'

They sat down on the couch.

They were talking on some random topic when Rishabh entered. Maasi went away.

Rishabh said,' Prerna, doctor ka appointment 11:30 Ko hai. Main Abhi office ja Raha hoon, I will come to pick you up at 11.'

' Okay, Rishabh.'

' Till then...'

' Haan Haan, I till then I will not move an inch from this room, drink the juice, take the medicines and...'

' Good.' said Rishabh, smiling.

' Aap na strict teacher ki tarah behave kar Rahe ho?'

' Main aur teacher? How?' Rishabh asked.

' Haan. Prerna don't do this, Prerna don't to that, Prerna eat this, Prerna eat that. Prerna don't climb the stairs, Prerna don't take Kukkiin your arms in this condition...'

' Aaj aapko kya hua hai? Tabiyat toh theek hai na?' He asked in a worried tone.

' Ji nahi...main bimaar hoon.'

' Kya hua aapko? Morning sickness, cramps...fever...'

He checked her temperature by placing his palm on her forehead.

' Temperature bhi theek hai...Toh phir?' he wondered.

' Mujhe husbandophobia hua hai?'

' Husbandophobia? What's that? Pehle toh kabhi nahi Suna? Is this a newly added word in the dictionary?'

' Offo! Rishabh!' she smacked his arm.

' Ouch...'

' Husbandophobia matlab husband se phobia. Agar aapko jaisa koi over protective and too caring husband hoga toh phobia from husband toh hoga na? Hmph...'

' Her mood swings have started!' Rishabh facepalmed.

' Kuchh kaha kya aapne?'

' Main? Nahi toh?'

Tears pooled up in her eyes. She hiccups and said,' No one loves me!'

' Why do you think so?'

' I don't know...but I am feeling that.'

Rishabh wondered how to make her mood better. An idea struck him.

He took a bar of chocolate and gave it to her.

'Chocolate! Thank you!'

' Thank God!' Rishabh said. He continued,' She is so childish!'

He went to office.

Meanwhile:-

'Debu Da, Debu Da!' Nivedita yelled.

' Ji...'

' Mera Kucch saaman maine storeroom mein Rakha tha. Storeroom ki chaabi dedo.'

' Ji...Didi...'

He came and handed her the keys.

She entered the store room.

' Offo...Yahaan hi toh Rakha tha...Jahaan gya...'

' Didi...lagta hai attic mein hoga...'

' Attic mein?'

' Haan woh storeroom mein...'

' Chalo koyi baat nahi. Attic mein hi chalte hain.'

Moloy called Debu Da, so he went away.

' Offo ... Itne saare papers! Inme se kaunse papers...I am fool to throw them away!'

' Yeh Rahe!'

Suddenly, her eyes fell on something.

' Yeh file kaisa hai?'

She opened the file after wiping off the dust.

She was dumbfounded when she went through the yellowish papers.

' Yeh kaise ho Sakta hai...Mr.Bajaj is the lawful heir to 50% of Basu Bari and our properties? Baba and Kaka Babu betrayed his father from the shares although he was the one who helped them in time of need? Impossible! Nahi...I can't believe it!'

'Prerna, are you ready?'

' Hmm...'

Rishabh accompanied her.

Prerna felt ticklish when the doctor applied the gel on her slightly swollen belly.

Prerna clutched his hand tightly when they saw the tiny image of the baby on the screen.

' My baby. Our baby...'

Both of them had tears in their eyes...

' Doctor, how baby?'

' Baby is fine, but you have to be careful, Mrs. Bajaj.'

' Matlab?' Rishabh asked in a worried tone.

' She has some complications in her pregnancy. Complete rest or else a time with come where there will be much risk, both both baby and mother.'

' I will take full care of her. Anything else...'

' I just added these medicines. These should be taken daily.'

'Prerna, Stop crying. Everything is okay na? Why are you crying?' Rishabh asked, while driving.

'Par aapne Suna na doctor ne kya kaha?'

' Kuch hua hai kya? Nahi na? And kuch nahi hoga aapko and bacche Ko jab tak main Zinda hoon.'

Prerna wiped her tears and smiled.

They were driving through the Howrah bridge when Prerna got flashbacks, of the past.

She was running on the Howrah bridge, wearing a pink salwar kameez...

She felt uneasy.

' Rishabh?'
