It's not like that. You will notice that what Rishabh wears nowadays is not the pure Indian khameez..you see the salwar..

It's more like what the Multanis and Lahoris wear. It's called 'shalwar' over there in Pakistan. I had come across this peice of info long back. It's what Muslims wear and that is why I referred to it as Pakistani style::))

He ROCKS nevertheless! Have u been watching Kyunki as well???

But was it invented after 1947? Then only it can be called Pakistani. Lahor and Multan were part of undivided India before 1947. There was no Pakistan. So, the credit for the dress will go to india if that is invented pre-47. Shalwar-Khameez being traditional dress, I am sure it was in use since at least 100-200 years, and is not a latest invention. The word "Shalwar" is in use in India since ages...even women wear some type of Shalwar-Khameez. Anything that came into existence after 1947 in Pakistan, can be called Pakistani. But anything that was created in Lahor or Karachi pre-47 must be called Indian, because that's what it is. I know one old man who was born in Sindh in 1930s. He had to run for his life, and return to India because of the communal riots during partition. But if u say to him today that "since u r born in sindh which is in pakistan now, u r a pakistani" he'll surely be very offended. He was born in undivided India, NOT pakistan.

This is ridiculous.
If muslims wear it, that's no reason to call it pakistani.
This statement is disturbing. Please do not do the mistake of equating muslims with pakistanis. Do you know that there are more muslims in India than in Pakistan? India has the 2nd largest muslim population in the world, next only to Indonesia. Bangadesh & Pakistan come AFTER India! If u go and tell an Indian muslim that u r not indian because u r a muslim, they'll surely sue u for the insult! all these Indian muslims are NOT pakistanis. they r indian. whatever they wear, eat, talk is indian too! Come on, our honourable president is a muslim by religion too! and he is the leader of the highest order for 1 billion INDIANS!

So, either let me know whether you got that piece of info about Shalwar kameez being a "new invention post-1947" in Pakistan, or take ur words back.

I am very passionate and proud about my country, so cannot tolerate credit being taken away or my country's secular stand being questioned.

Tulip!
I understand you are very passionate about your country and so am I! And trust me I am not giving you any wrong information. I have got this fact confirmed from some Pakistani friends and it IS a post invention of a style after the year 1947.

Let me explain- the Salwar Kameez was worn all throughout India even before the partition took place and people in Lahore and Multan, which was then in India, also wore it. After Independence, the 'shalwar'-kameez and not the 'salwar'-kameez has been declared the national dress of Pakistan and as far as I remember India does not have any national dress-please correct me if I am wrong.

And when I said that Muslims wear it, I meant the people living in Pakistan. Most of them are Muslims and they wear the shalwar Kameez which Ronit has started wearing for the character of Rishabh Bajaj nowadays. I am sorry if I have hurt your sentiments or caused any type of inconvenience but I did not think it was going to be such a big issue when I had already differentiated between a 'salwar' and a 'shalwar'

Cheers,
Sukhi

PS- Mujhse khafa na ho jana Tulip:))
