"Any serious shock or stress could…" she paused for a moment trying to bring herself to say it, "kill her."

Prem looked up quickly, horrified.

Prerna stood up abruptly. "How dare you say such a thing!!, she screamed at the doctor. "She is my daughter! Did you hear me?! My daughter!! I won't let anything happen to her!!!"

"Mrs. Bajaj! I understand this is a big shock but this is a hospital and this kind of behavior is not acceptable."

Prerna sat down slowly. "Sorry doctor, but you need to cure Mukti! I'll do anything but just please cure her!"

"Well… the best way for her to recover her lost memory is to get back into her old routine. Another key to getting Mukti's memory back is to keep her in familiar locations and areas where major things have occurred." The doctor then continued on to explaining details about medication and other small details about Mukti's health.

Prem and Prerna walked into the Bajaj household with Mukti. Mr. Bajaj and Anurag were in the midst of discussing the pending court case, at the sight of Mukti they both stood up, shocked to see Mukti there. Mukti had stopped coming to the house, Prerna always went into the outhouse to visit her.

Prerna had her hands protectively on Mukti's shoulders. She saw Mr. Bajaj and Anurag look at Mukti with such hatred and she knew that mentally Mukti wouldn't be able to handle the truth so before either of them said anything she said, "Prem take Mukti into the kitchen, she must be hungry!" Prem led Mukti into the kitchen quickly, understanding what his mother wanted.

"Prerna!" Mr. Bajaj said angrily. "What is this? Her… here?" Prerna could tell that his anger was getting the best of him.

Prerna looked at Mr. Bajaj as tears welled up in her eyes. "Mr. Bajaj… Mukti had an accident." Prerna continued to explain Mukti's situation to him and Anurag.

Anurag stood there rooted to the spot and Mr. Bajaj was dumbfounded. They both understood they couldn't kick her out of the house and couldn't tell her about the court case or what happened to her.

Prem had told Birju Kaka to make some lunch for Mukti.

Mukti was looking around trying to remember, but as it were, everything remained forgotten.

Birju Kaka came back holding a plate which Prem took from him and laid the plate in front of Mukti. She shot a funny look at it and then one a Prem.

"Come on Mukti, you have to eat it." Prem said quietly. She folded her arms across her chest and turned away from both the food and Prem.

Prem rolled his eyes and grumbled, "What now?" He took the plat and sat in the seat on the other side of Mukti so she was facing him and put the plate in front of Mukti. "You have to eat Mukti!"

"No, I don't know who you are, where I am or what this is!" Mukti said pointing at the plate.

Prem softened at that. For the first time, he said, "Sorry."

He extended his hand. "Hi I'm Prem."

Mukti extended her own hand, grasped his. "Hi Prem, I'm Mukti… right?"

Prem laughed, "Yes, but personally I like to call you Basanti."

"Basanti? Why Basanti?' she questioned.

"It just suits you so well, you know. Being the non-stop, chatter box you are."

"Excuse me? I don't talk non-stop and I'm not a chatterbox. I'm not one of those kind of people to go on and on and keep on going!"

"Please," Prem interrupted laughing, "don't start again."

Mukti who was now red, stood up and walked away from Prem, into the living room.

Sharard who was standing by Mr. Bajaj, looked up innocently at her. "Hi Mukti."

Precap: "NO!!" she yelled. She twisted out of his grasp and backed away quickly until suddenly she bumped into something hard.
