Diwali for stars!

It's that time of the year when there is magic in the air, bright lights in the sky and happiness all around you, find out what your favourite stars are up to this Diwali.

We started with the energitic Tanaaz Lal, she is teh new enthu-pataka on television! "This Diwali, we have been flooded with party invites. Therefore we have no plans of going anywhere outside the city. So plan number one is to shop madly for gifts. And plan number two, is to attend some of those parties that we've been invited to."

The charmer of television is going the spiritual and relaxed way...

"On Diwali day, we will have pooja at home and of course light diyas. But on the 19th I am having small party for my friends and family. This is my daughter Aadore's second Diwali. But I'm leaving all the hard work to my wife who will be doing all the shopping."

He has his hand full co hosting the ICC Champions Trophy and being the main lead of popular show - Viraasat. Let's find out, what he has for a plan!

"I am shooting for Viraasat and Extra Inning on the Diwali day. I will finish with it in the evening and go home and burst crackers. Some friends will be coming for dinner."

He is going the safe and healthy Diwali this year, no late night parties, no crackers, no hungama... One's guess would be that he is having lots of it being part of STAR One's celeb dance show - Nach Baliye 2.

"I have no plans as such. I will do puja at my house with my family. I have decided to not attend any Diwali parties this time around and spend time at home. We will definitely light diyas around our home. But no fire crackers as they cause a lot of air and noise pollution."

"I will be spending Diwali with my family. We will all get together for a nice quiet dinner. My daughter loves fire crackers so I'm sure I'll join her in bursting some. I haven't had time to shop for myself this Diwali but my wife has been making up for that!"

The two Ks in Sai's life !

If you thought that the aggressive Kung Fu and graceful Kathak don't go together, think again. The petite actor Sai Deodhar has always been intrigued by martial arts and is now training in Kung Fu under a master who comes home to tutor her.

Sai-living life to the hilt!

Why this sudden interest? "I have always been fascinated by sports and martial arts as it is liberating and instills self-confidence but I never had the time or opportunity to do so earlier. It also helps me remain in good shape," maintains the actor who informs, "I have also done action scenes in serials like CID which were thrilling experiences."

Sai, whom husband Shakti Anand endearingly calls Chottu because of her small physical frame. Now, it seems Chottu will soon be training for Kathak as well.

According to her, "dance is a form of relaxation, physically and mentally. The nimble-footed moves help you to be in touch with our divine nature, since culturally our devi-devatas have always been showsn in dance poses."

Sai is currently been seen as Namrata in Don (Star One) and in the negative as Debonita in Star's Kasauti Zindagi Kay.
While she is waiting for something good to happen on the work front, she prefers to do little but quality work and take time out for her personal interests.

"Yup, something big on television is coming up, will reveal at the right time," she quips

Now, that's called having your cake and eating it too!

Shabbir Ahluwalia makes his entry as Omi in 'Kasutii Zindagi Kii'

Playing Rishi Grewal in 'Kahin Toh Hoga' (Star Plus), Shabbir Ahluwalia will now make an entry in another Balaji prime time show 'Kasautii Zindagi Kii' (Star Plus). Not surprising as he is known as Ektaa Kapoor's blue-eyed boy!

He plays the character Omi who is a sports car enthusiast cum businessman. He makes his entry in the show driving a sleek sports car. His love for sports cars and racing made him accept the role without a second thought. "It sounded a very interesting new age and dynamic role whose passion is sports," says Shabbir.

Saying that he is blocked for 20 days in a month shooting for 'Kahin..' and 'Kasautii..' and sees no problem handling both shows as "I manage time well" and adds, "Both are for the same production house and it shouldn't be a problem. I have had to work on Omi's speech, mannerisms and the way he conducts himself and am still in the process of giving the finishing touches to the character."

He has also appeared in 'Kya Haadsa Kya Haqiqat' and 'Kkavyanjali' (Star Plus) apart from hosting 'Nach Baliye' (Star One). Shabbir is also wrapping up work in Sanjay Gupta's film 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' which will hit the big screen early next year.

KNot the Third Wife!

There are just too many knots in the show Kasautii Zindagii Kii as reports come in that one of the show's leads - Mr Bajaj could marry the third time. Will this be? Only television time can tell!

The Balaji serial Kasuatii Zindagi Kii started with Anurag and Prerna's love story. Then the serial took lots of twists and turns with two leaps-the first was eight year leap and the other was 20 years leap. Now the story revolves around Prem (Manoj Bohra), (Prerna and Anurag's son) and Mukti's (Tina Parekh) love story. Mukti is Mr.Bajaj's driver's daughter but she died before she could get married to Prem. Prem finds a Mukti look alike girl Devki in a village. But the real twist in the story, say insiders is the impending third marriage of Mr Bajaj.

Apparently the role was first offered to Shweta Kwatraa but she refused it. Shweta said, "It's old news. They asked me to join the serial in September. I am not doing any serial with Balaji Telefilms."

Nobody in the Kasautii... camp is talking about it. Mahesh Pandey, the script writer of Kasuatii... says "There will be no entry of a third wife for Mr.Bajaj. He has been playing this character for four years and we don't want to play with his character. There will be no change in his character now not even in the future. We are now concentrating on Manoj-Tina's (Prem-Devki) love story."

When contacted Ronit Roy (Mr.Bajaj) also said, "I don't know anything about it!"

Then who is spreading these rumours? Is it just one of those well planned moves to attract eyeballs? Or is this a well guarded secret that fell off the closet before its time? Though why should Mr Bajaj marrying for the third time be any news at all? After all, Anuurag Basu in the same serial has married, four times!

Or is it more?

Tina Parakh (Mukti of Kasauti Zindagii Kay and Shruti of Kahaanii Ghar Ghar Kii) got secretly engaged on November 22 to Vikram Hazra, with the blessings of her guru Shri Shri Ravi Shankar.

Tina met her fianc five months ago. Hazra is the programming head of the International Art of Living. She tells us all about her secret engagement and her impending marriage in February next year.

How and where did you meet Vikram?
I have been associated with the Art of Living for the last couple of years, and Vikram is the programming head of the International Art of Living. We met at a satsang function where Vikram was the speaker five months ago. The event was held at Shanmukhananda Hall in Dadar. I was asked to introduce Vikram to the audience by one of the teachers. We met then and it's been wonderful, but I wanted to keep our relationship out of the media.

When did you fall in love?
Vikram travels all over the world because of his Art of Living commitments and every time he returned to Mumbai, he would message me. Over a period of time we realised that we had fallen in love with each other and so we decided to get married.

Apart from his job, Vikram is a fantastic singer and sings only devotional songs. He also plays the electric guitar extremely well. He's appeared on MTV and Sansara TV for satsangs many times and is very close to Shri Shri Raviji. I have a collection of his CDs.

What attracted you to Vikram?
He's very intelligent, well read and widely travelled. He speaks six languages, knows people from all walks of life, is very proud of what I do and accepts me for what I am, with my limited knowledge. When we met, neither of us knew the magnitude of each other's popularity, so you could says that we fell in love with each other rather than our images.

Why did you keep your engagement under wraps?
It was the most beautiful moment of my life. Guruji was in Mumbai to conduct the Shibir in Bandra between November 19 to 24.

On November 22, when Vikram and I met him, he gave us garlands and asked us to present it to each other. He also produced rings and made us exchange them. It was the biggest gift that Guruji could have given me.

Everything was so simply yet so beautifully done. I can never forget that moment. I kept it under wraps as I am very superstitious and believe in good and bad vibrations. I didn't want people to talk about it till the time was right.

When is the wedding?
It will be in the first week of February. We are still working out the date. We will have the wedding at the Art of Living ashram in Bangalore, after which there will be a reception in Mumbai. I have taken a month's leave from Balaji from the last week of January to plan out all the details.

What else are you doing besides Kahaani and Kasauti?
I'm hosting a Bollywood countdown show, Idea Ek Se Badkar Ek, produced by Contiloe Films. It will go on air very soon on Star One, and very I'm very excited about it!

'Parvati and Shruti have their own story tracks'

Post the Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii leap, the limelight might have shifted
to Sakshi Tanwar a k a Parvati and the new generation but Shruti i.e
Tina Parekh is unfazed. She promises to hold her own in the high
profile show.

Q: Are you enjoying your role in Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii after it has
taken a generation leap?
It's too soon to decide whether I am enjoying my role or not. It can
only be answered after a while.

Q: Will you be seen in a grey character now?
Ekta (Kapoor) has appointed a creative team to decide on my
character's growth. It would be better if you address this question
to one of the creative guys.

Q: After the comeback of Parvati, the serial seems to be
concentrating on her and the new generation. Where would your
character fit in now?
Parvati and I were present in the serial before also. Both have their
own individual significance and story tracks. Everyone stands out
differently.

Q: Your new look is being talked about. What is the significance of
that scar?
You are asking me to disclose the story again. There's some
significance attached to that scar which would be revealed in time.

Q: Have your costumes also been designed by Manish Malhotra too?
No, Manish (Malhotra) hasnothing to do with it. Ekta (Kapoor) and the
creative team worked on it. Ekta (Kapoor) wanted a particular image
for me. She even made me try a lot of hairdos.

Q: It's been a long association with Balaji Telefilms. How has been
your experience been?
The experience has certainly been good; otherwise I wouldn't have
been here. I started here as nobody and people recognise me now. What
more can I ask from Balaji? I owe a lot to them.

Q: Tell us something about your journey in the television industry.
How did you bag your first role?
Nimbus Television gave me my first break in their serial, Shakti
after which I did a serial for Sahara. Then Khichdi happened. But
seriously speaking, I don't believe in looking at the past.

Q: Given a chance what would be the one factor you would like to
change in this television industry?
I would be happy to have more weekly shows so that the unit members
can have more time for themselves. It's very necessary to have
proper rest to deliver good work.

Q: Are you working on any other projects other then Kasauti Zindagi
Kay and Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii?
How can one person even think of more work when one is already doing
two dailies?

Q: You have already acted in a film called Satya Bol. Do we see you
doing more films?
Given a chance I would love to do an art film.
