Double celebrations

This year, Urvashi Dholakia will get special New Year's treat. After a long gap, the actress will get a chance to bond with her sister-in-law Sapphire and her two daughters, Meira and Maya. Her brother Anuroop was supposed to join them too, but had to change plans later. A little disappointed with her brother, Urvashi says, "It's been over two years since I met my brother. He lives with his family in Canada. He had plans to join us on New Year's Eve, but that won't be happening anymore. But I have no reason to complain since I will be able to meet his two adorable kids." Big plans Apart from New Year, the actress also has plans to celebrate her father's 85th birthday. "I wanted to go to Goa with the entire family, but it's all booked out. If not Goa, then I will have to think of another place." The actress is planning to surprise her father by doing something special. "I'm still planning things out since I have time. He's a real sweetheart, so I will make sure his birthday is brought in with lot of festivities." Apart from her nieces, Urvashi will also have the company of her sons Kshitij and Sagar. "They will be coming home from boarding school on December 10 and will stay for a month. After a long time, all of us will be hanging out together." On the work front, the actress is currently busy with Risshton Ki Dor. She recently got her hair permed for a change. "I was bored with my hair, so I got this look. But it won't affect my show's continuity. I can always wear a wig. I don't think it'll be an issue." Urvashi has also turned entrepreneur with Zephyr Media along with her best friend, Shanela Kapoor. Her first show was the Rang De Basanti Salaam special with Aamir Khan. When asked about her forthcoming plans she says, "I want to experiment with new formats and genres. Next year, we will have lots of things to talk about. Right now, we are in the planning stages."

I'm Single and Ready to Mingle – Cezanne Khan

Cezanne Khan - the darling of small screen on his life after KZK, and on his love life (or the lack of it ;-)

Cezanne Khan. The hottest looking guy on the Idiot Box, he debuted in Hasratein - the superhit serial of the 90s. Bit roles in Dushman and Palchchin followed. He could have been easily forgotten had he not landed a role in Ekta Kapoor's Kalirein. So impressed was the Queen of Soaps by his performance that she offered him the lead role in Kasautii Zindgaii Kay.

Rumor mongers have it that people who hadn't seen him and just heard his name mistook him for Hrithik Roshan's wife Suzanne Khan. But today, there's no identity crisis. His face is everywhere - on hoardings, at bus stops, railway platforms and also on car stickers.

Cezanne finished his B Com and was supposed to join NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies) for MBA. But as luck would have it, he was offered a film. He had to make a choice between the two - MBA or film and opted for the latter. But even though television has become his bread and butter, the thought of joining the glitter of Bollywood did not leave him. After all, this might be the opportunity to use his two years of theatre during his college days. Acting thus comes naturally to him.

Anubhav Sinha offered him Hasratein and he took it up. And soon after, he got Neena Gupta's Palcchin and Balaji's Kalirein. Meanwhile he did a bit of acting in B.R.Films' serial Dushman. During those days, Ekta Kapoor was doing the auditions for Kasautii Zindagi Kay. The rest, as they say, is history.

Cezanne believes that his biggest teacher on the sets is Dipak Kazir. Dipak helps him out if he does not get the shot it right. They have a great understanding with each other. Dipak helps Cezanne get into the mood of the scene, tells him about stresses in dialogues, and Cezanne believes that has really been a force behind his forceful performance in the serial. Help also comes in handy from Ravindra Gautam - the director. To him, memorizing his lines is not too difficult, given his background in theatre. But as soon as a scene is over, he rushes to the monitor to observe each and every movement. If something nags him, he clarifies with the director. Cezanne does not get into the next scene until he is satisfied with his previous one.

His dedication and his looks have fetched him accolades. Last year, he won 'Most Poular TV Actor' in ITA and the 'Best TV Male Personality'.

His favorite artists - Smriti Malhotra Irani, Dipak Kazir, and Urvashi are his favorite television actors. In the film industry, Sanjeev Kumar is his all-time favourite. Amongst the younger crop, Akshaye Khana and Kajol.

As far as the romantic scenes with Shweta Tiwari - the lead in Kasautii Zindagii Kay - are concerned, Cezanne is quite comfortable with it. No problems, as he is wont to say. And how he deals with the adulation of his fans of the opposite sex. It is flattering at times to him, but then some of them just go overboard. In which case, ignorance is bliss! One of his fans' friends called him up to tell him that she had slashed her wrists because he 'refused' to entertain her overtures.

So what kind of a lover is he? Cezanne terms himself as an honest man, but possesive in love. And ladies hold your breath. Because Cezanne is single, and "ready to mingle". So women, here's a tip - be truthful, or face disdain at the hands of Adonis of the small screen!

What else is on Cezanne's platter these days? Another project with Ekta Kapoor where he dies after a few episodes. And film offers are on a roll for him. Time will tell where his stars lie - the silver screen or the small screen.

Mini marathon for AIDS

Fitness expert Leena Mogre is arranging a 'mini marathon' in Bandra along with the Rotary Club at Juhu Tara Road.

The proceeds of this run will go to the families of HIV infected patients.

Calling it a warm up for the Mumbai marathon scheduled for January 21, 2007, Leena expects some of her celebrity clients like businessperson Timmy Narang and television actors, Manoj Bohra and Eijaz Khan to be a part of the show.

The marathon will start at Caf Coffee Day at Carter Road, Bandra and will end at Leena's specialised fitness gym in Khar.

Says Leena, "We are expecting at least 100 people to take part in this marathon."

Dolly, Raja hug and make up

In June 2005, Dolly had accused Raja of groping and assaulting her at actor Anuj Saxena's party (I was groped by Prerna's hubby: Dolly, HiTLIST, June 7, 2005). Later on, the actress filed an FIR against Raja. Dolly had even accused Raja of attempting to bribe her to ensure that she withdrew the case. Patch up Dolly and Raja patched up at the Apne Mere Apne (Doordarshan show starring Chaudhary) party at Fluid Spice in Andheri on Monday evening. Interestingly, the patch up initiative was taken by Bindra. When Raja was leaving the party, Bindra told him that they should let bygones be bygones. "I was surprised and she even asked me for a hug," says a visibly surprised Raja. And did they hug? "Yes, we did," he says. Dil pighal gaya While Raja maintains that he was falsely implicated, Bindra says, "I have decided to let go of all that muscle-tussle. I felt that I didn't need to carry the issue any further." Bindra explains that her change of heart stemmed from watching Star One's dance show Nach Baliye 2. "That man fought like a lion to match steps with his wife, who is a very good dancer. They didn't look like an odd couple even though their dancing abilities are poles apart. I finally took the decision of letting go of my anger when Raja fell ill (abscess in liver) and his hospitalisation forced him out of the contest. I felt bad for him. I decided it was time to move on in life." Raja, of course, is relieved. "I am happy. The case would have been dissolved in one or two hearings since I hadn't done anything to Dolly, but who wants to make the rounds of courts?" he asks. Dolly has signed two new shows on television, which she prefers to let the production houses announce in due course. Also, she is doing Anil Sharma's Apne, Sohail Khan's My Punjabi Nikkah and David Dhawan's next. "I have been off Zee's serial Mamta for some time, but my track will restart shortly," she says.

Enough has been written about his break-up with Barkha Bisht. Karan Singh now refuses to talk about his ex-girlfriend. "There isn't anything left to talk about it. I look at it as a lesson learnt and I've moved on in life. At the moment, my new show Solah Singaarr is my biggest priority."

The actor is a hardcore gym buff and will be spending New Year's Eve with his brother. "My family is in Muscat, but we have a house in Delhi. My brother will be coming down and spending time with me there. I have very few friends, and we are a close-knit group. It's natural that since I am single. I spend time with them."

As for any new woman in his life, Karan cheekily says, "There is no space or time, but that doesn't mean I am off women!"

Navniit's got her kitty full

Navniit Nisshan is on a high these days. The lady will be making an appearance in Star Plus' Kasauti Zindagi Kay and she's quite kicked about it. "It's my third show with Ekta Kapoor in nine months and I'm really flattered," she says. She will also be flying off to Prague in a few days to shoot for Goldie Behl's film Drona. Seems like Navniit's got her kitty full!
