It's interesting that Prem the stray child of Prerna Sharma belongs actually to everyone. He himself laughs at his heritage... "I'm Prem Bajaj, Basu, Sharma?" to Debonita's "mother". He represents love that has been lost by Prerna, Anurag and Mr.Bajaj. He is with them, physically, but somehow eludes them and when he is not with them they are broken down... just as if when one's love is missing, one is broken down. In a moment of anger and irrationality, Prerna bursts out that Prem was a mistake... just as if that her love was a mistake. But neither Prem nor love, as Prerna knows, were ever a mistake. She found and gained Prem (and love) after so many trials...

Prem the child-man needs love, but spurns love. He represents love, but cannot understand love. He cannot understand what he means to Prerna, Anurag, Sneha, Mukti and even Mr.Bajaj because he cannot understand love. He has cheated death so, so many times -- as a baby when kidnapped, when Anurag had him beaten up in jail, when shot by Apo*na, when the goons beat him up in Mukti's presence -- because love cannot be killed just like that. His dearth, his absence, his loss would numb them all, even if he cannot realize it.

From a strictly literary point of view, I love the way they use Prem to symbolize their love. Prem was a result of their love, a night when they both made love to each other for the first time...it was special...Prem is special...

Prem binds them, Prem separates them, Prem hurts them, Prem betrays them and Prem alleviates their pain as well...I find it beautiful...

Whether it is cheap, moral etc is a different issue.

Well I read all that you have written.

Yes, this is a lovestory, it's about Prem, and Prem is of anurag and prerna. So, this is lovestory of anurag and prerna. both bajaj and sam are just temporary partners because Ekta wants to show anurag-prerna separated for whatever reasons.

and for sm1 who said AP were not in love while conceiving prem (udi)- well just a few days after that, anurag is killed by aparna. on that day, prerna keeps karwa chauth for bajaj but sees anurag first instead of bajaj. Then anurag screams 'prerna' and she can hear it, when aparna kills him. then bajaj tells prerna that anurag is dead and she slaps him, then runs barefoot to basu house like a completely lost person , and cries a lot. after that, she behaves like a person who has lost EVERYTHING..all interest in life, and keeps on crying crying crying. now if that is not love, then what is love? that cant just be friendship. u dont slap the man u 'love' just because he tells u that ur 'friend' is dead or seriously injured.

Also, if bajaj is the romantic lead of prerna now, why was anurag with her when they redid the title song just 2 months ago?why was she saying all the emotional dialogues like "prem ko khushi ke hawale karna" during anurag's wedding? why couldnt she just simply be happy for her 'friend'?

Ekta is showing AP as soulmates. and 30 yrs living together doesnt mean anything. even meera and mihir lived together for 20 yrs. i like bajaj he is nice but prerna doesnt love him.

Neha and Broken_heart great posts...Prem is really interesting...be it the first one or the second one...the first Prem was the innocent one...the teen love...the second one is confused coz he is a symbol of confusion...Prerna was engaged to Bajaj, yet she loved Anurag, Anurag was married to Apo*na but still loved Prerna...love was in a mess...and so Prem is a mess...

But I think Prerna loves Bajaj...because he has been her husband for 20 or so years and has been the father of her children for 30 years...she is bound to love him...but her love for Bajaj does not change the fact that KZK is the love story of AP...no matter how much Anu Sam or Bajaj Prerna love each other...AP are always connected and will always remain so...this is the story of their lives...Bajaj and Sam will never gain that focus...
