Ronitfan, Even I hope things are getting back to normal for Ekta-Ronit. But in television industry, no producer likes to see one actor getting bigger than the entire show. Here, Ronit Roy as Mr Bajaj had become SO popular, that the entire serial depended on him. Ekta had to do something to reduce her dependence on Ronit.

Jesse, I don't know "exactly" when the team got replaced, but it happened in 2005 or late 2004.
I love to discuss this show , and like you said- study the characters and draw parallels to real life, but only till the leap. After the leap, the characters have changed so much, the story has gone haywire..don't feel like discussing it really. But I can go on and on about the pre-leap story!
and I agree with you 100 %- ultimately the story is changed as per business needs.
