Thank God you finally updated. I thought you were planning on leaving the cake half baked. Nice part especially the last part was touching. Ab bharpai karo ur jaldi se update karo.

Is Bani getting better? Jai is very sweet here, hope Bani realizes how much her husband loves her.......nice part Abhilasha, can we another update soon?

Part 25

Jai was waiting for Bani to come out of the laboratory in the hospital. It was already 9:30 AM. Jai was worried that she would be hungry. He did not know anyone can feel so hungry. Lately, he had gotten used to it; Thanks to Bani… Jai remembered that he had to collect the reports of the previous day tests and had to meet the doctor with the results. He decided to call Aditya in the mean time. He called his secretary on his mobile and discussed the appointments and meetings of the next day. Also, as Aditya and Jigyasa had gone to pick up Anu that afternoon, it was necessary to schedule all the appointments and meetings by himself.

After he finished the call, it went back to the same seat where he was waiting for Bani earlier. His mind went back to the moment they shared the previous evening.

When he noticed Bani in tears, he felt he had crossed the limits. He wiped her tears and asked whether she was fine. She nodded her head. She smiled after a few seconds and hugged him taking him away by surprise.

He smiled to himself remembering the moment.

She had in fact kept his night dress ready on the bed when he had come to the room after his discussion with Aditya. In the morning too, she had selected the dress for him, kept his important things ready on the side table.

His thoughts were interrupted by Bani and the nurse coming out.

The nurse said, "Tests ho gaya. Aap kal dopehar ke baad aakar reports collect kar sakte hai." Bani and Jai nodded their heads. The nurse continued, "Unhein bhook lag raha hoga. Aap inhein kuch khana khila dijiye…"

After the nurse left, Jai asked Bani, "Chalein?"

Bani nodded her head and followed Jai little behind to the hospital canteen.

"Bani, tum ek sandwich aur chai le lo. Ghar jaakar kha lenge…" Jai said.

Bani nodded her head.

Jai bought her a sandwich and a chai. He did not want to risk eating outside. Bani munched the sandwich slowly sipping the tea. Jai just got a tea for himself.

After having food, they roamed all over the hospital to pass the time. At 11, they collected the previous day reports and went to meet the doctor. They were asked to wait for few minutes. After few minutes, they were called in.

Jai wished the doctor and took a seat, whereas Bani just smiled. The doctor looked at the reports and went into thoughts for few minutes. Then, she smiled at them.

"Perfect…" she said looking at the couple. Then she started scribbling some medicines in her letterhead and gave it to Bani. "Why don't you go ahead and get these medicines from the pharmacy? Meanwhile, I would give some tips for your husband to look after his pregnant wife." She waited for Bani to leave the place.

Bani got the prescription and looked at Jai. He smiled at her encouragingly and gave his credit card. "Tum leti raho. Main aa jaaonga. Jaldi…"

Bani left the place.

After Bani left the room, Dr. Mathur looked at Jai and said, "Does your wife has any problem?"

Jai was confused. "I am sorry."

"You see, Mr…" she looked at the report and continued, "Walia. Mr. Walia. Her blood count is abnormally low. She is anemic. Above all, her blood pressure is not stable. Sometimes high… sometimes low… And she is under-weight." She looked at Jai questioningly. When Jai did not reply back anything, she said carefully, "you are going to take care of her very… very carefully. This month, is very crucial. Keep her away from stress, if any…" Jai was speechless. Dr. Mathur continued, "I have prescribed Iron Folic Acid. She might very difficult to take it. But make her take it. Its very essential. Give her lots of water and spinach. Make her eat nutritious food. Keep her away from oily food. Don't let her do any heavy work for timebeing. Make sure she doesn't skip her meals and medicines." She paused to get response from Jai. Jai nodded his head. "I am giving an appointment exactly after 10 days. I want to see improvement."

"Yes, Doctor…" Jai said slowly and got up from the seat.

When he came out of the room with the reports in his hand, he came across Bani. He was shocked for a moment. Later he was relieved when she said, "Aapko bill pe sign karna hai…"

He looked at her as if seeing after a long time. He smiled and went with her to the pharmacy. While, the person in the counter was packing the medicines, Jai said, "Bani…"

Bani looked at him after diverting the attention from the person packing the things.

Jai stretched his arms and called her nearby. She smiled shyly and went and stood beside him. He put his arms around her and rubbed her arms with his palms. When the person gave the medicines along with the receipt, they collected it and left the hospital premises.

While going in the car, Jai gave occasional glances to Bani. He noticed her more relaxed and little more happy. But he was not. The doctor's words echoed in his ears. He stopped the car at one point and that gained Bani's attention.

He turned to her completely and took her right hand on his. Bani looked at him not understanding what was happening. "Bani… Main… main…"

Bani kept her other hand on his and said, "Kya hua?"

He looked at their hands and said, "Bani… agar tumhein koi pareshani hai toh tum mujhe bataogi na?"

Bani was stunned at his sudden question. Jai felt her hands in his grip go loose. He looked at her shocked expression and said, "Mujhe bataogi na?"

Bani swallowed and kept looking at him.

Jai continued asking her. He placed on palm on her cheek and said, "Batao Bani…?"

Bani just answered with tears and nothing else. She started to sob.

Jai asked her, "Bataogi na, Bani?" He paused and said, "Apne Jai se bataogi na…"

Tears broke from her eyes non-stop, yet Bani did not answer his question. Jai waited for her answer, but at last gave up and wiped her tears, first with his fingers and with his hand-kerchief.

They rode silently towards the Walia house.

When Bani had gone to the room to change the dress, Jai told Masi and Dadi that Bani was very weak and that the doctor was worried about her weight. They had to go again after 10 days and the doctor wanted to see an improvement. Masi and Dadi convinced Jai that they would take care of her. But Jai was not completely convinced about Bani.

Jai had a silent lunch unlike the day before. He watched Masi and Dadi stuffing tasty dishes onto Bani's plate. At the end, when Bani kept most of the dishes aside, Masi made her sit beside her and fed her with her own hands. Bani shed tears as she had her food. Jai brought her medicines to the dining room itself. She immediately left for the room without waiting for anyone.

After sometime, when Jai came back to the room, he found her sitting on the bed lost in thoughts. He thought she would be having her afternoon nap. He went and sat beside her resting against the head board.

"Kyun ro rahi thi? Khaane ke waqt?"

Bani kept silent.

Jai took a deep breath and said, "Bani… agar tum nahin bataogi toh mujhe pata kaise chalega?"

"Jabse mujhe yaad hai, mujhe kisine apne haaton se kabhi nahin khilaye…" She paused and said, "Haan… bahut saalon ke baad maa ne khilaya tha jab main badi ho gayi thi… lekin… kisine mujhe nahin khilaya…" She said slowly.

Jai looked at her trying not to show any emotion.

She shook her head and said, "Main thodi der baad soti hoon…" and said lied down saying in her mind, 'Baad mein bahut kaam hai…' After sometime, she looked at him and asked, "Aap bhi thodi der letenge?"

Jai, smiled this time, and stroked her hair lovingly. "Nahin… tum so jao… mujhe neend nahin aa rahi hai…" and he patted her.

Bani giggled and closed her eyes to sleep. Jai, who was patting her from time to time, noticed her breathing to be steady. He looked at her sleeping and her chest rising. He kept his hand on her chest. He slowly rubbed her chest. She moaned. He joined her under the covers and continued touching her. At one point when he brought his hand under her kameez, her eyes opened widely. He immediately took his hand away and whispered her to sleep.

After she went to sleep, Jai looked at the ceiling wondering how was he going to make her open her mouth. Though, he could see gradual changes in her actions and her face, it was not in her words. Her spontaneity… How was he going to bring that back?

When Bani woke up after one hour, she noticed Jai was not in the room. She washed her face and went to the balcony. She sat with her unfinished sketch and colors. She had already colored half of the picture.

In one hour, she finished the whole coloring and kept the sketch aside. She kept all her things in the cupboard. She picked her sketch and placed it on the table. She washed her hands and face. Then, she picked her sketch and walked out of the room. She guessed he might be in the study and walked towards the study. She knocked it softly for after a few seconds of hesitation. She did not hear any 'Come in' neither the door open. She knocked again lightly. When she did not hear any permission, she decided to give it later.

Just when she turned back to go, the door opened.

Jai was wondering what goes wrong that sometimes Bani would get so scared of his touch. The previous day, when he had kissed, she shed tears. Today, when he tried to touch her little intimately, she got scared. But why? It was not as if he had not touched her… rather touched her intimately… That one night, she had let him make love to her. She did not stop him that night even once. But why now? What was the difference?

What he did not understand was – Lust was what scared Bani. As long as he showed love and affection on her, she happily accepted it. Lust was something, she was not experienced in… Lust was something, she could not help but feel uncomfortable… Lust was something, that she felt it was the means to use one person. When she felt the same lust in Jai's touch, she felt she was not with Jai… but with someone who was trying to use her…

Jai shook his mind away from his thoughts and concentrated on his work.

Towards the evening, Jai felt he heard a knock at the door, but was not too sure. He went back to the work. When he heard a light knock again, he stopped his work and walked to the door to find if anyone there. When he opened the door, he saw Bani's retreating back.

Jai was surprised. What was she doing here? "Bani…" He called her.

Bani turned back.

"Kuch kaam tha, Bani?" Jai asked.

Bani nodded her head.

"Chalo…" Jai led her inside. "Tumne knock kiya tha kya?" Bani nodded her head. "Knock karne ki kya zaroorat hai. Meeting pe thoda baita hoon main…" He said little sternly. "Ayinda, knock karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai… samjhi…?"

Bani nodded her head. He made her sit on the couch and he joined her. "Kaho, kya baat hai?" Jai asked.

Bani smiled and gave the completed sketch to him.

Jai looked at her curiously and got it from her. He was speechless. The sketch was mindblowing… The transition from one season to another was caught in the sketch beautifully… The background… the colors… the feel… simply mindblowing…

Jai looked at Bani's face… rather her happy face… He smiled reciprocating her happiness, "This is simply mindblowing…" He spoke out his mind.

Bani gave a shied smile. He hugged her by one arm still holding the sketch in his hand.

He heard Bani ask, "Aapko pasand aayi?"

He looked at her this time and said, "Bahut… Main kal hi frame karwa ke…" He looked around the room. "Kahaan lagaaon?"

Bani looked around the room. Against the light, the sketch would look nice, she thought. "Wahaan…" She pointed out the centre of the wall under the light.

Jai looked in the direction and tried to fix the sketch there mentally. It looked fine. "Not bad…" he said. "Hum wahin lagaayenge…" He told Bani. After looking at the sketch once again, he said, "Thank you, Bani…" Bani smiled and he kissed her forehead and hugged her.

The door barged open. "MAAMU…."

after ages you've updated, thanks to Davia!! I'm feeling bad for Jai.....I thought Bani is getting better but no, she is getting bad to worse......great update but I find it quite short, you know after waiting for ages, I expected looooooooong update from you 😛
