Great post - just a couple of comments from me on all these rules -

Most of them are practical and good - and forums need to be regulated, that's a given, that's why moderators are there, for making sure the content is not abusive and repulsive. Having said that, there are some rules that are unnecessary, in my opinion.

I use a lot of big words (habitual, not to hurt any one, so if it's in English then people can always look up a dictionary to learn the nwe word. I am good in Hindi, but I look for Desi Chic to translate the harder words... 😉 😉 😉

I also think quoting every one or more than one on a single reply is cumbersome (even for FFs) - instead I recommend quoting the person, but keeping only the part you want to comment on. I tried going back to each of the quotes and picking them and pasting them into one long quote, it is very very difficult.

I used to do storage planning and infrastructure for IT and databases and understand the increase of storage space if you are basically repeating the entire quote of the other person. I also understand quoting the entire FF is a bad idea, and I am refraining myself to do so.

Now coming to the name calling of the IF members or actors - it is very subjective how people take offense to some thing innocuous. When you point to some one that is not in front of you, you say, that skinny girl, that obese girl, that curly haired girl - so you are referring to thier physical traits. When you talk about characters, you say Amitabh is the 'Angry young (now old) man' of cinema, Rekha is the sultry dusky actress. You refer to people as old or young.

People tend to take things personally when it's a hero or heroine that they like being referred to as a weasel, a mota, a ghaida (thanks for explaining the meaning on that Rivs!), a buddha.

CO-existance of two diametrically opposing views is going to be difficult, especially considering there are two highly acclaimed TV stars acting in major roles. But think of them like Lemon and Honey. Some people like Lemon and somepeople think it's too khatti, but you are not going to diss a person who is going to drink lemonade (People like me, who like both) and some people think honey is too meethi -

Please think of AD or Jai as your honeys, but think that Lemon has it's own qualities and you might need it to bring out the flavors in lemonade. 😆 😉 😉
I know it's a bad analogy, but only thing i thought of.

I normally enjoy different views when they are presented in a logical and civil fashion, some people like everything as an argument, different strokes for different people. On an open forum, we have to learn to be civil, at the same time, certain members should learn to have thicker skins and not be sensitive to everything and read between lines.

OK, that would have been 1 whole page on my FF, sorry for making you read so much!

KS forum has ceased to be what is was. With the entry of one character all the rules got changed. 95% of JB fans are civil and show respect with a small fraction being being aggressive. Same can be said of AD fans. For the minority all members are being policed and have to watch what they say and think about it a million times before they write. I think that sort of looses the essense of it. I am a rabid JW fan but when after ONS he was called a sprem donor, viagra advertisement etc etc, I might not have like it but it was directed at the charater. Now we can only praise the character or it becomes an all out war. It is just better to start weaning ourselves of the forum.

I appreciate your input, but I find that I have to toggle between multiple windows to see who is saying what in order to write back to them, that's why it's tiring - and some of the laptops we work with are so small that it becomes impossible to have two windows that can view all the content at the same time.

Believe me, I tried...now I have become so tired, I stopped writing back to the readers, it makes me feel really bad - but I just don't have the kind of time or energy - I am sorry for ranting on this, just my personal opinion.

I don't see anything wrong in calling names to character like repto, buddha, weasle, skunk. What's wrong in that. IF it was Ok for last 11/2 rears why is it suddenly unacceptable?

I think people should learn to understand hat it is for character & not the actor & shouldn't take it personally just because they are fans of that actor.

Name calling to other members just because ur views don't match should be a no no.

I second you on that Megs. JW is my honey and like you, as you know, I am a rabid fan of my Cuddles as well. JW has been trashed and bashed severely in this forum post ONS. Some of us defended him and some of us kept quiet until the anger died down. It hurt a lot to see my Cuddles bashed so heavily, but, it's an open forum and everybody has the right to discuss their likes and dislikes about these fictitious characters (my POV only). This forum will die of boredom if we are not allowed to express our views about imaginary reel characters. People come to this forum to have some fun. Why do we have to take it so seriously and take it to heart ifthese fictitious are bashed? It is not meant towards the actual person?

You sound so down, here is a big hug for all of you, one for each 🤗 🤗 🤗 . I support you 100% in your freedom of speech. Everyone should be allowed to say whatever they want in any thread they want. Because with so many constraints there is no scope for any discussion, healthy or not. Self moderation and self policing is the key.

Having said that, since Meghna and Sonia brought up post ONS name calling for JW, I was a silent member then and I was absolutely horrified at the level of vulgarity in some of the conversations. I don't know if it reflected more on the character or on the forum participants. It certainly didn't add any value whatsoever to the quality of conversation then just as it doeesn't add any value to the conversation now when people call AD a rotten rat or kasai petting a hen before butchering. So even as we reflect on this thread, it behooves us to do some self reflection and ask ourselves questions such as was it OK even then, or if it was accepted then, should we not learn positively from our past mistakes and rectify them?

This is just a suggestion with no intention to preach. Rivya, I have made many requests to you to not leave and I am going to do the same again. With any one voice lost, the quality and the spirit of the forum will both suffer and you are one of those people who are our voice of sanity.
