Chapter 3
Seeing Bani's reaction Jai felt like running away and hiding himself. But he felt that now he had to explain to Bani why this was possibly his way out

Jai: Bani please sit and listen me out. Like a zombie she just sat and kept looking at Jai.

Jai felt as though he was a child confessing his mistake. He went on to explain that he got engaged so that massi would be happy and she had a severe hear attack moreover she was like a mother to him and she is the only person who has constantly stood by his side.

Bani: I understand your problem but Mr. Walia why do you have to lie to massi just tells her things didn't work out and moreover one lie will lead to another.

Jai: Bani she is in a very fragile state and slight excitement can aggravate her present condition. In fact when I said I was getting engaged the doctors commended that the news has helped in her recovery as she had a new purpose in life.

Bani: Still Mr. Walia why me not any of the other female friends of yours. One look and anybody would say that we are a mismatch. Moreover I work for you sir.

Jai: That is the whole point Bani you are different from the woman I date and you work for me is what is going to work to our advantage.

Bani: Mr. Walia you are not making sense may be Adi uncle can help you.

Jai: This was suggested by him only.

Bani: What?

Jai: Well it was Tarun's idea but Adi also felt we both could pull it through. Common Bani we both can make it work out.

Bani: Mr. Walia this isn't one of your business projects. It's my life and your life we are talking about and please don't forget the family and the crazy media that is going to be involved in this.

Jai: Don't you think I haven't thought about all that. Bani just look from my angle. You have been working with me for the past one year and often we have been seen together. I enjoy working with you and often we have been sited in many public places having dinner and lunch together.

Bani: But Mr. Walia they were all business related meetings. God nothing personal.

Jai: You are not getting the point they are business dinners only we know that and few associates moreover you are the exact opposite of the woman I normally date so everyone would think that I must have found something different in you that is why I wanted to get engaged.

Bani: It's not only that. I have some other problems with this fianc thing.

Jai: Common every problem has a solution.

Bani: O.K. one our age difference how do we explain that.

Jai: Do you have a problem with that.

Bani: Well no why should I be concerned.

Jai: As I may be almost twice your age but I make up in other departments.

Bani: Such as
Jai: Wealth, Status, I don't think I am that bad to look at and I have never heard of any of my female companions complaining about the way I court them except of course when I leave them. Jai was willing to go on and on but Bani didn't like the directions were this conversation was heading and quickly changed the topic.

Bani: Well I get it why I couldn't resist your charms. But I have lot of commitments especially financially.

Jai: I am willing to compensate in any way for your help.

Bani: You are not getting the point. I have a sister who is studying and she is dependent on me though she has a scholarship, then I have my part time studies to finish. I have been saving up amount to start the business which died away along with my parents.

Jai: hold it there isn't this too much for a little girl like you.

Bani: Was now getting mad as Jai seemed not to take things seriously and she resented being referred to as the little girl.
Well my future is at stake and I am not little girl. Incase you failed to notice you are asking this little girl to be your fianc and she can't have dreams and aspirations. Well that's double standard coming from you Mr. Walia.

Jai: Now knew he was getting on the wrong foot. Why was it that the person who could cut any deal or charm any woman finding it so difficult now. Bani I am sorry if I have offended you in any way.

Bani; Mr. Walia I don't think you have though about the consequences of your discomfort example after we break up how will it look when I come back and work for you. What kind of gossip will be going on Also lets not forget massi. What are the reasons we are going to give to explain the break up?

Jai: please don't go over board. As for your financial obligations I will see to it that your sister completes her education, and may be we could work together to put up the business you have hence you can continue your studies and even when we break up you wouldn't be my sectary just a business associate.

Bani: Mr. Walia you just committed to all that I said. Are you aware that my sister is studying for first year medicine and the business is nothing like you normally deal with it was a small catering buissness in Mt. Abu?

Jai: We will work out all the details Bani you don't have to worry about that. Just say that you are willing to be my fianc for a period of time.


Bani: You forgot one important thing Mr. Walia.

Jai: What
Bani: Whether there is someone else in my life?

Jai; now he was really perplexed. Did she really have someone? Bani I am sorry it didn't occur to me its just that you have always been around when ever I needed you to work late or come up with last minute change in routines and the most important thing is your integrity and I know what I say in this room will never go out. So I guess there is someone special.

Bani; was now starting to feel sorry for him well Mr. Walia there is no one.

Jai: Then what is the problem.

Bani; only that I don't feel things are going the right way.

Jai: Don't worry Bani I never turn back on the people who have helped me. Just say yes

Bani: O.K. if anything goes wrong you will make it right won't you.

Jai: I promise you and thank you Bani for helping me out and in the excitement he just hugs her which Bani didn't expect
Jai continues to say thank you Bani you are really sweet. Some how Bani felt comfortable and secure in that hug but it didn't last for long as they heard a knock on the door and Pushkar was there.

Jai: Pushkar come in. Have you brought the file today you will have to go yourself and inspect he site as I have something important to do.

Pushkar: But Sir We had decided to inspect the site and then sign on the deal today.

Jai: Tell them we require more time. Just do it I have something more important.

Pushkar now looking at Bani: what's wrong with Jai today a person who never backed from a deal is now finding excuses and Bani feels that this engagement thing has really rattled his brains.
Mr.Walia has something urgent come up.

Jai: Why looking at the expression on Pushkar's face he realizes why not convey the news first to Pushkar.
I have a lunch date with my fianc and massi.

Puskar: Oh congratulations Mr. Walia do I get to know the lucky girl.

Jai: Any guesses.

Pushkar is really lost and can't understand jai's behavior and thinks this girl really must have a good hold on him for us to see a lighter side of Mr. Walia
So I will see you later in the evening. Casually says so Bani shall we leave I don't want massi waiting.

Now this comment had Pushkar totally zapped. Jai hey pushkar aren't you getting late we also have to go. Coming out of his trance and keeps walking why Jai Sir taking Bani with him was he said it was date with massi and his fianc. Did I miss something here? On his way he clashes into Adi.

Adi: Pushkar watch were your going? Looking at him any problems.

Pushkar: Nothing. Then as an after thought Adi uncle do you know who Mr. Walia's fianc is.

Adi: No that is suppose to be a surprise for everyone but why do you ask.
Pushkar: Nothing well just that today He is going for lunch with his fianc and massi. and Bani is going along with MrWalia.

Adi: What? He never told me that he had approached Bani to be his fianc.

Pushkar: Why should he tell you that? And Bani is Mr. Walia's fianc he felt as though the floor beneath him had slipped away

Adi was about to tell their cover up plan when he realized he was talking to Pushkar. No it's just that I was the one who brought Bani to Bombay and I have been looking out for her and both of them didn't even tell me.
Pushkar: Well I guess I am not the only one who is going to be surprised. And Pushkar walks away.

Aid moves to his cabin and calls Tarun.
Adi: Listen Tarun this Jai turned out to be a chupa rustum.

Tarun: Why, what happened

Adi: He has gone with Bani on a lunch date and he didn't even tell us.

Tarun: How do you know it isn't one of their usual business lunches?

Adi: He asked Pushkar to go and handle the deal himself moreover he told he was going to lunch with his fianc and massi. You should have seen the look on Pushkar's face. He was totally zapped about that idea.

Tarun: I hope both of them can pull this or Jai is going to have our heads in a platter for even suggesting this idea.

Adi: Tarun don't you get it. Everyone would be quite shocked with the announcement to realize what going on that will buy us more time. It would be something like a Cinderella event for the media. Were a small town girl meets her prince charming.

Tarun: Stop getting dramatic if I know Jai I hope he doesn't screw up this whole situation.

Adi Why do you say that?

Tarun: come on yaar we know that he is very good in business but in his personal relationships he is a big zero I hope bani can bring him around.
Adi: I can guarantee you that we can get to see some real fire works mark my works. So see you later in the evening.

Next chapter Bani and Jai are in for a shock.
