Chapter 14
But once back in Bombay it was a whirl wind of activities. Pushkar had to leave immediately for Delhi as his mother's heart condition had worsened. So there was no one to handle the Pune project. Ranveer had gone to over see the German project hence he was also out of town. Adi was willing to volunteer but he never handled any part of the project and he was due to take Jigyasa out in another two days for their second honeymoon. Some how Jai didn't feel it was right as after a long while he got to see his friend and sister happy to be together again. Morevoer it had taken a lot of persuasion form Adi's side to get Jigyasa ready for this trip as no one was at home except for Bani.

How could he forget the morning at the breakfast table after the wedding when adi had announced that after Jai comes back from the honeymoon he too was taking his wife to the places they had gone in the first year of their marriage? Jai couldn't help smiling thinking as to how Adi had shut his sister up by just one dialogue.

Flash back
Adi had just announced that he was taking Jigyasa out for a month and he had altered all his business arrangements for that one month.
Jigyasa: Who said I would be coming with you.
Adi: Then whom do you propose that I take for a honeymoon trip.
Jigyasa: When will you grow up Adi in case you failed to notice its time for our kids to go on honeymoon trips?
Adi: who said so? You know Jigyasa I should have made you wait look at Jai now he waited for such a long while to get married but when he did it was with such a style.
Jig yasa: Are you comparing yourself to my brother.
Adi: God no. I can never be like him. You know I am just a romantic at heart and there was a time when you just loved all those things.
Anu: Dad why don't you carry on this conversation in private. May be you could convince her better.
Adi: When did my daughter become so smart?
Jigyasa: After all she is mine too.
Adi: Are you telling me that I am the dumb one and you are the smart one.
Jigyasa: I don't think I should answer that. But about the trip you never asked if I was free to go.
Adi: Come on Jigyasa I have known you for so long I can say what goes on in that head of yours.
Jigyasa: Then tell me what I am thinking now.
Adi: Do you want me to say that aloud in front of the kids.
Jigyasa: Try me.
Adi: Ok. You asked for it. Why isn't the fool saying that he loves me and would enjoy having the company of his soul mate on this trip Satisfied.
Jigyasa was so shocked as well as everyone at the table.
Jai was the first one to come out of it: Good going Adi for the first time you have shut my sister's mouth just with three words.
Anu: It was long over due according to me. Love you dad kisses adi and leaves the table.
Ranveer: Come on mum give dad a break here. He has opened his heart to you. Forget on whose influence he has done that. But still he came around for you.
Sahil: I hope you guys don't screw up again like every time.
Jigyasa: Looks like you have won Adi.
Adi: Jigyasa its not always who wins.
Jigyasa: I know I was just giving you a hard time like usual.

Present day

Dadi and Massi were out. Sahil and Anu were busy with college.
Dadi and Massi had gone to Haridwar and Rishikesh as Massi wanted to go on this pilgrimage trip as she felt that finally her children were happy and to thank god for sending Bani to their lives. More over the newly weds would enjoy the privacy of the house.
But Bani felt that the house made her feel creepy all day she didn't have much to do as now she wasn't going to the office. Jai felt that as no one was there to see matters of the house and massi had handed Bani over the social service works she conducted in the old age home and the orphanage run by them Jai felt that to bring bani back into he project was not advisable moreover she would have to stay on in Puna at regular intervals and he wanted his wife by his side. So he decided to Go to Pune for two days and settle things with pushkar's assistant and then directed him to give a daily up date on the progress.
In between all the tension in the office Jai had made commitments to attend certain social functions though he cancelled quite a lot of those things he still had to attend some. Those were the only days he reached home on time. They would both go out together. But Bani missed the Jai she had known in two weeks. He was back to the former Jai Walia. What had gone wrong Bani just couldn't figure out? One minute she was sure everything was going to be alright but the next moment things got back to Square one.

So as days went by
She completed her assignments for her studies. Now often she helped Sahil also with his assignments and office work which helped him a lot as now he never got shouted by Jai and he got appreciated by him for his hard work. But Bani failed to understand Anu she was good at heart but she never liked Bani interfering in her affairs. One night when she came home very late after a party and was sneaking into the house. Bani tried to correct her but Anu very rudely told her that she was not her Parent and that she didn't allow her own mother to interfere in her things. It had hurt Bani but still she kept watch on her. She didn't want Anu to fall into Bad hands. She had informed Sahil too about it and asked to watch for his little sister. Sahil said that Bani was getting worried unnecessarily as she was like that as Anu was known for temper tantrums.

Then one night Bani was coming back from a party along with Sahil and her car's filter got clogged and she was waiting for the mechanic and the driver to get it repaired. Jai had to drop some guests of the airport so he had taken the hotel car. Bani was seeing some commotion at the far end of the parking lot and felt that the voice was familiar when she was shocked to see that some guys were trying to misbehave with Anu and she was not in a state to defend herself . Bani couldn't believe that Anu was so drunk.
Bani: Look Sahil Anu
Sahil runs to help his sister and bani goes and calls the guards Seeing Sahil beat up one of the boys the others try to beat him but when they see Bani bringing in the rest of the security personal. They all run away
Boy 1: Come on guys run Security personals are coming.
Boy 2: Hey that lady is the owner of the hotel and her aunt if she files charges we are all dead meat.
Sahil tries to get hold on one of the boys.
Bani goes and slaps him.
Bani: What do you think you were doing here? Guards next time I don't want to see these guys in our hotel Premises.

Bani brings Anu home and puts her to Bed. Next day morning Sahil goes and explains to Anu if it was wasn't For Bani she wouldn't be able to show her face in the family.
Anu goes to say sorry to Bani.
Bani: It's not to me that you should be saying sorry. And if you are really sorry show me that by your actions. Anu starts to sob.
Bani: Anu please stop crying I am not angry with you its just that I don't understand you. You have all the comforts a girl like you could ask for but then why these wild ways.
Anu: Every one only tells me what to do them because I am the youngest one and the girl in the family. You know mami my parents send me college so that I could get a degree and in the meantime they would find a boy in their business relation and get me married off that is all there in for me. You wouldn't understand mami how it is to live a show cased life. Mami you even got married to the man you love.
Bani: I don't deny what you have said but may be there are thinks that you can do in this showcased life as you call it.
Anu: Like what
Bani: I have seen some beautiful glass paintings and pottery work in your room and I was told that you make them.
Anu: Yes it started out as a hobby and I do make some things for my friends. Why do you ask mami you want one? But Mamji will not allow to hang them in this house other than my room.
Bani: Who talked about hanging them in the house for just family to see? Listen I have organized a charity bazaar fort he orphanage to collect funds for the new building may me you could do an exhibit. Anu people will start taking you seriously when you mean business and one more thing no body can make you do things that you don't want to do. You are a strong girl and you shouldn't allow people to take advantage of your situation.
Anu: Yes mami. But I swear mami and incident like last night will not happen again and hope you will not inform anyone about that.
Bani: You should know me by now I never break anyone's trust.
Anu: You know something mami you are just like mamaji he will do anything for the people he considers his own. Thank you once again.

From that day onwards Anu and Bani were like sisters. Pushkar was now back and Jai felt relaxed also Ranveer was due to be back in another two days. Adi also would be joining he was happy that things would come back to normal and he was getting tired of this hectic schedule were he never got a moment alone with Bani other than during the night but mostly it would be late and he is too tired to have a decent conversation with her. He was just hoping that Bani would understand his difficulty and he was also pleased with the way she handles things In fact he was looking forward to the charity Bazaar organized by her as his friends commented that his wife was very good in raising funds. She had a knack for seeing through people.

On the day of the charity Bazaar everyone was surprised to see Anu's work on display and infact there were some serious buyers too for it. Jigyasa was very pleased that Bani could turn her daughter's hobby into something a reality for Anu. Massi was complementing Bnai on the money she had collected. Jai was proud of his wife's achievements. But somewhere along the lines they seem to have drifted apart from their honeymoon trip. Bani was always busy in the house it looked to him that she had time for everyone. One evening he came in early to surprise her but she was not there as she had gone with Sahil to see his debate competition actually Bani had helped him with it and he wanted her to be there. So she had gone with Adi and the whole family only Massi and Dadi were at home.
Jai: Massi where is everyone.
Massi: why Jai I know you want to know where Bani is didn't she tell you today she is going to attend Sail's college function.
Jai: What
Massi; Yes it was she who got him through the previous rounds and she had been regularly going with him so she didn't want to miss the finals
They all arrive very late that nights Sahil had won the prize Adi decided to give a treat for the family and they were making a racket as they walked in but the moment they saw Jai they were all quite.

Adi: You are still up.
Jai: Of course nobody thought to inform me that they had planned an outing.
Jigyasa: But you said you were busy to night and I thought you were going to attend the Chamber of commerce dinner function.
Jai: No I had a change of plans and when I come home there is no one except for massi that too just because she is not well. On top of it all your mobile phones were switched off to know your where abouts.
Adi: Now stop getting mad we had to switch off the mobile phone during the competition after that we went to the club for dancing and then dinner. Congratulate Sahil he has won the first prize and must thank Bani too for it as half the credit goes to her.
Jai Congratulates Sahil everyone says good night and disperse into heir rooms.
Bani follows Jai.
Anu and sahil to Bani: looks like mamji is mad as Bani was not home.
Adi: Leave it to her she know to handle Jai.

In their room
Jai: How come Bani you have time for everyone in the house except for me.
Bani: what is wrong Mr. Walia? Can't I go out of the house with the family?
Jai: Its not that it looks like my household can't run with out you being there.
Bani: I thought you would be happy that I take care of your family.
Jai; Take care you do half the work around here I don't understand why I have employed so many servants in this house.
Bani: Are you still mad that when Mr. Mohan and his wife came in visit us I was in the garden working.
Jai: Bani working it was a sight to behold.

Bani was quite messy her hair had come out of the clip and she was sweating and had mud all over her hands and she was holding the orchid stem while the gardener was arranging the pots according to her instructions. Jai was made that day because he never understood why Bani did all those kind of things when there were servants to take care of it. That was their first argument after the trip later Jai stopped interfering in her work as he knew that he could never win any argument against her. She always could make him feel guilty.

Back to present
Bani: Well thank you I never knew you liked to see me getting messy rather prim and proper
Jai: Enough of your appearance now I just want to know one thing how come you are more busy that you are never around.
Bani: Actually that should be my line. After our trip I hardly see you. Except when you want my presence at those fancy dinner parties of yours or late in the night when you just crash into the bed.
Jai: Well you know how things were when we came back no one was present to handle the business side as everyone had some problems.
Bani: Well I had offered my help and point blank you refused it.
Jai: Are you ad because I didn't take your help or that I was too busy.
Bani: On both accounts and you accusing me of being busy at least this is the first time I was not at home when you came in. And it is not my fault that you had a change of plans. Did you ever consider informing me about that?
Jai: Just what are you getting at here Bani that I have to take an appointment o see my wife?
Bani: Well that is what I have to do to get in touch with you so may be you can also start doing that.
Jai: What the hell do you mean by that?
Bani: Well I had left a message with your sectary as I couldn't get through to your mobile that to night I will not be attending the dinner with you as Jigyasa said there was some important dinner you would be attending.
Jai: But I wasn't in the office I was with some foreign delegates. And why did you have leave message with my sectary you could have told me in the morning.
Bani: Morning Mr. Walia. I hardly see you and when was the last time we had a decent full length conversation. Now if I have explained myself I would like to go to bed.
Jai: O.K. I realize that I have been busy. I am sorry you know that I have lot of obligations.
Bani: What about your obligations to your wife
Jai: Why is it that you always make me feel guilty.
Bani: That is not what I want. I just want to spend some time with you is that too much to ask.
Jai: Now Jai was smiling Anything you wish Bani, so may be we could go out on Saturday then.
Bani: In the evening its fine by me. morning I have some other engagements.
Jai was happy she was not that mad and he felt bad that he had been neglecting her. Jai thought she had some work in the morning but actually it was a get together with Sahil's and Anu's friends. Bani had got to know all of them and loved to spend time with them. Adi and Jigyasa said it would be nice to have a party around the pool.



Sorry to disappoint you guys there were no Bani Jai Passion but watch out for the next few chapters
