Part 7 (b)

Bani couldn't sleep all night. Thinking about Aman's proposal. She thinks a lot about Rahul. How lovable and innocent Rahul is. He has been deprived of a mother's love through no fault of his own. How he deserves all the mother's love in the world. Her thoughts drift to the child Pia is carrying. Jai's child. She realizes similarly the child is innocent and deserves its parents love. With this thought, as painful tears flow down her face, she makes her decision and cries herself to sleep. She can be the saviour to both the children.

Next morning, she speaks to Tarun and tells him about Aman's proposal. Tarun is very upset.

T: Bani, tum pagal ho gayi ho kia?

Shakes her by the shoulders.

T: You should have said no to him immediately. How can you even ever consider this. I will mortagage all my assests. I can raise the funds. I just need a week or two.

B: You will do no such thing. I don't want you putting yourself for sale to save my sister or jai.

T: I am putting myself for sale? What do you think you are doing? Aren't you also putting yourself for sale? Bani, you are selling yourself short. Everyone has always made use of you. Aman is no different. Bani, you need to live for yourself now. Do you understand me? Live for Bani. That is what I want to see.

B: I need to do this one thing for Rano. With this I would have fulfilled the promise I made to my parents. After this, I will live for Bani and this is what Bani wants. To be with Rahul and his family. You won't understand Tarun. I see the pure love in Rahul's eyes, so innocent. And it's not like I am marrying Aaman you know. I'll be a friend, a good friend and be loved and share love by the family. I can't live alone Tarun.

bani looks away from Tarun and stares out the window,

B: The love I see in Rahul's eyes will be present in Pia's child....(pauses) in Jai's child...(tears forming in her eyes). I want him to experience that love.

Saying that she cries uncontrolably. Tarun turns her around and hugs her. He takes her face in his hand and wipes her tears with his thumbs, kisses her forehead. He understands her conflict.

Tarun to himself "I love you Bani. I want to take care of you. I want to make all your problems and insecurites dissappear. If only I could. But if I tell you this now, I'll only scare you away because what you need now more than anything else is a good friend. I also understand that you need to discover your true self. I know you are not ready to hear this so I won't tell you now but I will always be there for you ....waiting. You are the one I have searching for all my life. You're such fool Jai Walia. You had a diamond in your hand and you threw it away for some measly zircons!

The door bell rings. They spring apart. Rahul is at the door with dada and dadi. They had a date for an outing.
