Dadi: Ham aisa karte hai ke Anu-Rohit aur Rano-Saahil ki shaadi ki khushi me ek bahut bada party rakhte hain!! Aur Rano ke liye saari taiyariya hum Bani se karvayenge! Is bahaane usse Rano se baat karni to hogi na?!!

Jai: Of course!! Not a bad idea Dadi!! Waise bhi we need to lighten the atmosphere here!! Hmmm… chalaaki to koi aap se sikhe!!!

A few days later and the preparations for the party that night are in full swing!!

Jigs: Kya kar rahe ho tum Tony?!! Mehmaan aaj raat aa rahe hai, agle hafte nahin!!! Jao jaake candles aur phool le aao, mera mu kya dekh rahe ho!!!!!

Bani, on the phone: Haan Pia tum fikar mat karo, yaha sab kuch theek ho raha hai.

Pia: Rano ke kapde aur gehene aa gaye?

Bani: Haan, maine kal raat hi designer se bat karli hai, voh abhi aata hi hoga.

Suno… Pia…

Pia: Ji Banidi?

Bani: Tum yaha jaldi aa paaogi?

Pia: Zaroor Di, koi khaas baat hai?

Bani: Rano ko taiyaar karna hai aur….

Pia: Kya bachpana he ye Di?!! Aap ab bhi unse naraaz hai?!! To phir unke kapde or jewellery ke liye is designer se us designer tak bhaag kyu rahi thi aap?!! Yeh bhi wahi kar leti! Usne ek aapki baat nahin maani, to is par itna gussa?!

Bani: Pia, main usse naraaz nahin hoon, bas uske jhooth se dukh hua hai. Lekin tum ye nahin samjhogi…

Jigs: Kitna kaam baaki hai, sab kuch mujhe hi karna pad raha hai. Ek phone pe lagi hui hai or voh meri pyaari si bahu apne kamre me aaram kar rahi hogi!!

Apparently Ranveer hadn't managed to make his mother understand anything!!!

Pia: Theek hai Di. Pata chal raha hai ke vaha ke mahol, aur kuch logon ki kadvi baton ki vajahse shayad ap theek se Rano se ab tak baat hi nahin kar paaye hai. Main aake unhe taiyaar kardoongi, aap fikar mat kijiye.

Later that day….

All the preparations are finally in place! Pia had arrived a while ago and after talking to Bani had gone to help Rano get ready. Anu had Jigs with her, and so all that was left for Bani to do was check that everything was fine with Jai's clothes and get ready herself!

She went upstairs to her bedroom to find that Jai was reading the newspapers and had not even started getting ready!!!

Bani: Kya kar rahe ho aap?!! Mehmaano ke aana ka waqt ho chuka hai aur aap ab bhi yaahan paper padh rahe hai?!!

Jai: Bani… calm down!! Mein abhi taiyaar hone wala tha!! Aur tum bhi to ab tak taiyaar nahi ho!!

Bani: Lekin me to….!! Uff! Rehne do aap, bas aap kapde badal lijiye ok!! Kitni der ho chuki hai?!! Aap ne hi yeh party rakha hai, aur aap hi taiyaar nahin hue, yeh kya-

Jai, confused: Bani, yeh tum mujhse kaise baat kar rahi ho? Itne gusse mein kyu ho?

Bani is facing her cupboard, obviously shaking but trying not to show it. Jai walks up behind her and slowly turns her around by her shoulders, highly confused to see her eyes filled with tears!!

Jai: Bani…? Bani?! Kya hua…? Ab tumhaare aankhon mein aansu kyun hai? Please mujhe batao na?

Bani: Voh… voh… mujhe pata nahi mujhe… kaunsi sari pehenni chaahiye…

Jai is taken aback! It is ridiculous to believe that the mere indecision of what sari to wear at the party has gotten Bani so upset!! He suspects it has nothing to do with finding him not ready yet either!

Jai: Bani…? Shhh…. ro mat. Tum…. tum ye sari pehenlo.

He chooses a black sari with red and gold embroidery and pushes her towards the bathroom to change. He had heard Pia downstairs and was able to gather that Bani had yet to even talk to Rano yet, let alone patch up with her! Not allowing herself to go and be with her sister was what had upset Bani, and she hadn't known how to deal with that conflict of emotions, choosing instead to take her anger out on him.

He had tried!! He had hoped this party would bring home to Bani the fact that Rano was now married and a part of her sasuraal too! He had hoped that they would have used the opportunity to start speaking again…. but no! He knew that both Bani and Rano missed each other terribly, but neither could bring themselves to break the ice first. He shook his head and resigned himself to the fact that maybe time was the best healer, and you couldn't force certain things!

Bani comes out of the bathroom, looking so beautiful that Jai's mouth falls open on looking at her! She half-smiles at his reaction and comes to the dressing table for her jewellery. He put his hands on her shoulders to stop her from reaching down and picks her mangalsutra up first.

She watches him through the mirror as he places it over her head. He takes a pinch of sindoor and fills her maang with it slowly watching her close her eyes in response to his touch. Slowly and steadily he adorns her with the rest of her jewellery, never breaking eye contact, sensing her heartbeat quicken.

"Hothon se chunle kabhi… baat labo pe likhi

Mujhko baahon me bhar ke… mere dil me utar ke…Pyaar mera tu pehchaan hai…

Jiya dhadak dhadak… jiya dhadak dhadak… Jiya dhadak dhadak jaye…

Jiya dhadak dhadak… jiya dhadak dhadak… Jiya dhadak dhadak jaye…"

She turns so he can put her chudiyaan on for her, one by one. His strong hands break one on her dainty wrists and she gasps in pain. He brings her wrist up to his mouth and places his lips over the scratch, kissing the pain away.

Reluctantly letting go of her wrist he tucks her hair behind her ear with one hand, pulling her closer with the other. She forgets all her pain and turmoil in his arms, holding onto his shirt collar falling deeper into his soul-searching kiss. This time his kiss heals an entirely different type of wound. She doesn't want to feel anything anymore, anything but her husband's closeness, his loving touch.

He breaks away from her and stares down into her tear-filled eyes. The way he looks at her tells her everything she needs to know. She hugs him, resting her head on his chest and closing her eyes. Jai strokes her hair and wordlessly lets her know that he is there for her. After a while she pulls away from him and he wipes her tears again. He kisses her forehead and smiles before taking his suit into the bathroom to change.

Downstairs the guests have begun to arrive and are being greeted by Ranveer and Dadi. Suddenly, all eyes turn towards the stairs to watch the descent of a stunning couple. Jai, dressed in a black and gold sherwani, and Bani are walking down arm in arm, looking like they are the couple of the hour, not the newly-weds!!

They come to Dadi who winks at Jai and makes an excuse to go off and let them welcome the guests.

Jai: Welcome Mr Khuraana, how nice to see you!

Bani: Aaye, aaye Malhotra ji, bahut khushi hui ke app yaha aa sake!

Jai turns to the door again and forces a wide smile when he sees Ranvijay and Roshni walk through the door.

Jai: Aaye samdhiji! Kaise ho aap, please come…

Roshni: Bani!! Kaisi ho? Wow, tumhaari sari toh bahut achchi lag rahi hai!! Kitni achchi taste hai tumhaari!!

Jai watches her gushing and rolls his eyes.

Roshni: Bani, mein tumhaare liye ek tohfa laayi hoon!

She turns around and calls outside…

Roshni: … Jatin!!!

Bani breaks into a smile as she sees her friend enter. Jai however, does not feel quite so good!

Jatin: Jai… Bani!! I bet you did not expect to see me again so soon!! Fine, tum logon ne invite nahin kiya, toh Roshniji ne apni taraf se mujhe bulaaliya!!

Bani: Aisi baat nahin hai Jatin, pata nahin kuch dino se mera dimaagh kaha hai!! Jigyaasa auntie ne hi sare invitations likhe the aur voh to tumhe jaanti nahin!! I'm so sorry!!

Jatin laugh: I was teasing you Bani, koi baat nahin!! Anyways, Jai, I'm sorry mein phir se aap ki biwi ko chura lejaa raha hoon!! Mujhe aapke un shaitaan saaliyon se milna hai!! Chalo Bani, let's go and find Pia and Rano!!

Jai nods with a small (and again, fake!) smile and watches Jatin take Bani's hand and lead her away. He turns back to Roshni, knowing where to direct his growing irritation!

Roshni: Kya hua Jai, tum thoda naraaz lag rahe ho??

Jai: Whatever you are up to Roshni, you're not fooling anyone!

Roshni opens her mouth in exaggerated indignance as Jai stalks away.
