PART 20
The champagne has turned her cheeks red and each time Jai stares at her with those dark soul-penetrating eyes and she blushes ever further. To Jai, no-one has ever looked more beautiful than his wife tonight.
He takes her hand and leads her upstairs. They come to the door of their suite and Jai sweeps her up into his arms making her squeal with delight.
Jai: Kya Bani? Lagta hai thoda vazan badhgaya hai tumhaara!!
He ducks as she pummels his chest with her dainty fists, and laughs at her mock indignation.
He opens the door and carries her through, closing and locking it behind him. His eyes are locked with hers as he takes her into the bedroom and sets her down on her feet, next to the bed.
A breeze has picked up, blowing the curtains about and playing with Bani's long dark hair. She walks over to the balcony to shut the doors. Jai watches her struggle a little before she shuts them and closes the curtains.
He takes his jacket off and moves behind her, hearing her sharp intake of breath as he snakes his arms around her waist. He pulls her backwards towards him and runs his hand down her arm, entwining his fingers with hers.
She leans her head back as he bends to kiss her neck, tasting her soft skin. He continues to kiss her, moving his lips slowly around, across her back and to the other side of her neck. He can sense her breathing becoming ragged as he continues to plant long lingering kisses on her bare skin.
"Hothon se chunle kabhi… baat labo pe likhi
Mujhko baahon me bhar ke… mere dil me utar ke…Pyaar mera tu pehchaan hai…
Jiya dhadak dhadak… jiya dhadak dhadak… Jiya dhadak dhadak jaye…

Her back arches as he moves lower, clasping the zip of her dress with his teeth and slowly undoing it. He runs his hands up her arms to her shoulders, brushes the thin straps from her shoulders and turns her round to face him.
Her eyes are closed. She slowly opens them and for a moment he is hypnotized.
Jai: Tumhaari aankhon ki yeh kashish… mere hosh udaa deta hai Bani. Inme mein doob ke mar bhi jao to koi gham nahin…
Bani lowers her eyelids with a shy smile. Jai lifts her face in his hands and stares into those nashili aankhen. For the second time that day he bends his head to kiss her soft, trembling lips. He feels her body responding to his. Her arms run up his back pulling him closer, and Jai runs his hands through her soft silky hair, kissing her harder, with mounting urgency. As they kiss he slowly starts to push her backwards until she hits the bedpost with a gasp.
He lifts her into his arms and lays her down onto the bed. He brushes silky strands of hair from her face and tucks them behind her ear as he moves closer and closer… …
Bani thinks: Me jaanti nahin is raat me kya hai… par aisa kyun lagta hai ke ye raat… ek nayi kahaani shuru karegi… meri zindagi me…
The next morning Jai awakes to find Bani covered in only a blanket, sleeping on his arm against his chest. His eyes fall on their clothes scattered across the floor and he smiles as he remembers the night they spent together. Both truly in their senses this time, both happy to be lost so deeply in one another. He sighs contentedly and places an arm around Bani's waist.
Her eyes open gently, blinking in the sunlight. The first thing she sees is her husband staring back at her. She blushes as she remembers what happened the night before – but she wouldn't have changed things for the world!!
Jai traces her cheek with a finger and kisses her forehead. She snuggles up to him as he wraps his arms around her pulling her closer.
Jai: Kaisi ho Mrs Walia…?
Bani: …Just perfect Mr Walia.
They fall back asleep in each others arms and do not wake until early afternoon!
On realising the time Bani jumps out of bed with the blanket wrapped around her and almost falls over as Jai pulls it back.
Bani: JAI!! Yeh aap kya kar rahe ho?!! Please mujhe chaadar de do na, dekho kitni der ho chuki hai!!
Jai: Itni jaldi bhi kya hai my darling wife?
Bani, tugging hard on the blanket: Jai, chodo bhi!! Kal savere India wapas jaana hai – aaj hi bacha hai sab ki shopping karne ke liye aur dekho na, kab ke baara baj chuke hai!!!
Jai: Shopping?!! Oh god Bani, shopping kiske liye?!! Tum auratein bhi na…
Bani: Kaisi baate kar rahe ho Jai! Sab gharwaalon ke liye kuch na kuch to kharidna hai na mujhe!
She tugs the blanket free and wraps it tightly around her body.
Bani: Agar tum na aana chaaho to mein akeli bhi chali jaa sakti hoon!
Jai: Ok ok! Jaise me tumhe akele jaanedene wala tha!! Ek kaam karte hai, hum dono saath mein shower karne chale jaate hai, time aur paani dono bach jayenge!!
She giggles at the suggestion and runs inside, locking the door. Jai hears her shout from the bathroom.
Bani: Iski koi zaroorat nahin hain Mr Walia – agar hum dono saath me nahaane chale to ho chuki shopping!!!
An hour later they come downstairs together arm in arm. They look a picture of perfect happiness. Everyone who sees them smiles… everyone, that is, except the person in the coffee shop who has been watching… waiting for them to leave the hotel – the look on their face is far from one of happiness……
