Chapter 4

3 years later.

Bani and Rano rushed as fast as they could to the City Hospital, praying that their CP was ok. They received a frantic call from Daksh telling them that he had a mild attack. Thought of their parent's untimely death set the girls in panic. The scene at the hospital did not help much. Tarun was trying to pacify his crying mom and sister, while Daskh sat motionless.

Who is Mr Dixit's family enquired the nurse. Bani looked at them, no one said a thing, it seemed they were too shocked at what was happening. Seeing that no one was taking the initiative she spoke up.

I am, she called out. Good then come with me I need to complete some details.

CM sat forlornly surrounded by her children, and observed how Bani and Rano set about taking charge. While Bani was busy with the nurses, Rano got cups of tea and soft drinks for them, she soothed them every now and then while she went back and forth checking progress with Bani. A while later she watched as Bani came out, spoke to Rano and went back in. Rano seemed to have disappeared for a while, but an hour later CP was wheeled into the ward for treatment.

Bani explained as best she could to the family that their father had suffered a mild heart attack but she was sure that with proper care and treatment he would be fine. She refused to believe that there was anything more serious than that.

Jai Walia was discussing a project in Adi's office when the call came. Excusing himself Adi took the call as Jai continued reading the notes. His head shot up when he heard Adi call out, What? Rano calm down tell me which hospital. Jai jumped out of his seat, and looked at Adi. Words were swimming in his mind. Rano, Hospital, he felt the adrenaline rush. Rano she was Bani's sister, Hospital? if Rano was on the phone where was Bani? Was Bani oh no, oh God no.

As soon as Adi put the phone down, Jai pounced on him.

Tell me dammit what is it?

CM was surprised to see Jai Walia and Aditya Bali approaching them and wondered who informed them so quickly.

Bani saw Jai first. Her heart skipped a beat. He looked different. Still as handsome as ever, but he wore a worried scowl. Because her seat was behind a pillar Bani had a clear view of his side profile. A strange sensation filled her. He really was good looking she decided, and when she realised that she was ogling him she blushed. Thank God no one saw her. Bani was shocked at her behaviour and quickly looked away. God what was happening to her? Here she was in a hospital for heavens sake, worried for her uncle and she was feeling the first strings of attraction for a man. But not any man. It had to be Jai Walia the man she hated!

Jai's sixth sense told him that he was being watched, but a quick glance around proved nothing. He was chatting to Daskh when he saw Rano. Apart from her subdued dress sense Jai still recognised the feisty young girl that she was. If she was surprised to see him she did not show it. He held her gaze for a while, and nodded; she responded with the slightest smile and sat beside Pia. It only occurred to him then that Bani would be around too. On the Dr's arrival the family gathered around him, he looked at the chart and asked for Bani Dixit.

Yes Dr that's me, Jai heard the confident strong voice. When she came into view, Jai was stunned. Bani was no longer the 22 year old shy girl that he was so mesmerized with. In her place stood a confident and mature young woman. As she spoke he studied her. She looked sexier, her body changed from a girl into a woman. Her voice was huskier, her words clear and concise. She was dressed in a black linen business suit, her long hair held up in a chic ponytail. She wore rimless glasses that complimented her gorgeous eyes perfectly. Her feet were fitted into elegant stilettos. As she spoke she looked directly into the speakers eyes. Jai stood still, awash with pride and admiration for whom she had become.

If the young Bani Dixit mesmerised him before then the mature, striking woman before him made him breathless.

The family surrounded the bed. Between sobs and sniffles they enquired about CP. He looked tired and weak Bani observed. CM was still quite, as she sat beside him a slow stream of tears falling on her pale face. Suddenly Bani felt overwhelmed as images of her father flashed through her eyes and she looked at her uncle in agony, he looked so much like her dad. She left the room hastily not trusting herself to hold back the threatening tears and the deep felt sob she so desperately wanted to cry out.

Jai found her gazing out of the window. He knew she was worried and hurting. He approached her standing beside her. Bani felt his presence. For a long while neither spoke, until she heard his distinct voice.

He'll be alright Bani ? simple words spoken with so much of hope.

Bani hesitated, I want to believe that too Mr Walia, very badly. Bani turned, looking at the man she vowed never to talk to again.

But at times of grief and happiness one tends to forget old hates and differences.

So Jai gets to meet the girls again after 3 years.

great update. Jai meeting Bani and Rano after 3 years. I like the way you described how Bani matured. I hope nothing happens to CP, it will be like history repeating itself for Bani and Rano and they will be left all alone because CM doesn't really care for them. Continue soon.

Jai is still smiten by Bani after 3 yrs even more so now with the mature, cofident one. Bani is also no immune to his charm in spite of the hatred she had for him. Soon it will turn into love.
