As Bani left the place, Jai came to his sense and saw the stack of his thesis in his hands. Out of sheer frustration of being smarted out by this chit of a girl, he threw the papers up in the air and stamped his feet hard.
Just then Dr Deb came running to jai and when he saw the papers lying on the ground, started screaming n yelling .
Dr Deb:" Jai Walia!! what the hell , why did you throw my papers on the ground???"
Jai was visibly shocked as he saw that the papers strewn all around werent his , but Dr Deb's recent study material.
Jai:" I am sorry Prof, I thought they were mine", as he started collecting the mess.
Dr Deb:" you idiot! help me collect them asap, else i can assure you that you will never pass in my module. And why are you still standing here?? Dont you have to goo to meet your parents? and your Dadi?"
Jai suddenly thought about his Dadi and started thinking,
Jai:" Oh my god, I failed again, what am i going to tell them!!! and on top of that if i say that i dont want to marry the girl of their choice, its gonna be another bolt from the blue. They are never going to forgive me. I have to do some thing".
Huffing and puffing, Jai reached the hotrel where his parents were staying.
Dadi:" Lo agaya mera sher puttar, Krishna, dekh kaun aya hai."
Krishna:"Jai, tu kab aya, aur hum Kiran ke ghar pe tera intezar kar rahe the, jane de, pehle kuch kha le"
Jai(Hugging his Dadi n then Mom):"Mom, I have a bad news, I failed again"
Uday W:" Aur kitne saal Jai?? Kab tak hame sharminda karte rahoge?? ab bas karo, aur India chalo,bahut hogayi padhai, aaj tak maine kabhi bhi tum pe family business ka bojh nahi dala, lekin ab tumhe khud sab kuch sambhalna hoga.Kal tumhari shadi hogi, biwi bache honge, tab tumhe apne parivaar ka khayal bhi rakhna hoga. Aisi befikar zindagi bahut ji lia,ab sudhar jao"
Jai felt dejected, and slumped down on the sofa, but his Dadi was there to cheer him up.
Dadi:" Oye Uday, abhi abhi to Jai se mile ho, abhi se dant suna diya? Jane de beta, tera baap jo tujhe akal bant raha tha na, yeh tere Dadaji ke dialogues hai, uske original wale nahi hai...woh to bas Uday ne thoda remix karke bol diya, jaise ki aaj kal ke remake filme!!!"
Jai n Krishna burst into laughter hearing Dadi's blabberings.
Krishna:" waise Jai, Kal hum log wapas jane se pehle Kiran aur Nishi bhaiya ke ghar lunch pe ja rahe hain, aur tumhe bhi saath main ana padega, no bahanas, aur main kuch bhi sun na nahi chahti."
Krishna n Uday left the hall, leaving Jai n Dadi.
Dadi:" oye Jai, tere liye, humne ek soni kudi pasand ki hai, bas ek problem hai, uske ghar main bahut chuhe hain, aur woh unke katre hue kapde pehenti hai!!!"
Jai was like," What is she saying man?? Bani ke kapde ?? oh no, he recalled Bani wearing a short n top in latest design n fashion, no wonder his Dadi got such weird notions about them".
The next day, Bani got up with a smile on her face, she was going to get rid of Jai n this unwanted marriage and would not be admonished by her parents too. WOw ek teer se do shikar!!!
Kiran n Krishna started chatting animatedly and dadi was busy gobbling up her paneer kofta and butter naan.
Bani sat staring at Dadi," Jitna khati hai, lagta nahi yeh budhiya itni jaldi maregi, yeh log bekar main iske marne ke bahane meri jaan lene pe utar gaye hain".
Jai was having difficulty thinking of a way to talk to his father about cancelling the marriage. He looked at Bani, who was happily munching away at the food and giving everyone coy glances.
Jai:" Yeh ladki , ek number ki shatir khiladi hai, mujhe yahan phasake, film ka villian banake kitne mazze se khana kha rahi hai, isko sabak sikhana padega. Magar kaise, abhi to mere jaan pe ban ayi hai"
Uday W:" So Jai, now that you and Bani have met each other, tell me what do you think about the marriage date?? "
Jai:" Gulping down the food, Dad, I , I...."
Krishna:" Aap usse khamoka tang mat kijiye, aap ke samne kehne se sharma raha hai"
Bani (in her mind):" What the hell , itni simple si baat kehne main isko itni problem kyun ho rahi hai? Kal to mere samne bahut sher ban raha tha?? aaaj bhigi billi kaise ban gaya?"
Jai:" WOh , woh Dad, aap sabki jab marzi, main tayaar hun", Jai sat back dropping the bomb!!
Bani:" Kya?? lekin kal to tumne............"
Everyone looked at Bani, who stood up and held Jai by his collar,
Bani:" dhoke baaz kal to tumne kuch aur hi kaha tha", suddenly concious of evryone staring at her,left him.
UW & ND gave each other conspiratory smiles n KW & KD were happy beyond doubt.
Dadi:" Hai hai mere Soni Mahiwal, pehle se hi mil chuke hai, aur hume pata hi nahi"
Bani stormed out of the room , but not before glaring at Jai with icy cold looks!!!!
