PART 3
The sun's rays shone into the newly married couples' room indicating a new day. Gauri stirred a little bit and slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was shiv's peaceful face deep in sleep. She gave a little sigh and got up to take a shower. After 15 minutes she walked out of the bathroom drying her hair with a towel when she saw that shiv was sitting on his bed fully awake.
G: good morning
Shiv just gave her an angry look and walked passed her into the bathroom. Gauri looked down in sadness, but before shiv closed the door to the bathroom he called out her name softly.
Shiv: gauri 'he said looking over his shoulder, he then turned to face her.'
Gauri was waiting for him to speak….a small smile came to her lips but it was soon gone when shiv finally spoke.
Shiv: you took too long in the bathroom…I want you out of my way at all times…especially in the morning because I need my shower. 'and he closed the door on her face.'
gauri turned around and look at their wedding picture sadly…a lone tear escaped the side of her eye. She wiped it away and started picking up her bedding and soon she was making shiv's bed.
Shiv suddenly came out of the bathroom only in a towel. Gauri looked up at him and quickly turned around looking the other way, her face turning red. Shiv raised an eyebrow at her shyness, but dismissed her and started to get ready for work. Soon they both went down together to meet the rest of the family for breakfast.
Shiv: good morning everybody
Mahen: good morning son…good morning gauri beta
nikila: good morning bachi…did you sleep well last night?
Gauri: yes mumiji.
They all sit down and vivan comes.
Vivan: hey bro 'he touches his fist with shiv's' good morning everybody. Hi babhi.
He smiles and gauri smiles back flashing her dimple.
Vivan: hai babhi…your million dollar smile makes the day much more brighter.
Gauri blushes at the compliment and vivan sees this.
Vivan: oy hoy…babhi sherma gayi.
Gauri hits him lightly on his head.
Gauri: badmaash.
Everyone in the table laughs except for shiv.
They all eat breakfast and shiv leaves for work. As soon as he gets in his car he realizes that he forgot his wallet, like always. He walks back to the house and is about to open the door when gauri opens it from inside. Shiv gives her a confused look.
Gauri: ji woh….aap ki wallet. 'and she holds it out for him'
Shiv looks at her and takes his wallet without breaking eye contact.
The whole day passed by for shiv with meetings and for gauri just getting used to her new life. Finally the time came for shiv to come home. Gauri was reading a book in her room when she heard shiv walk in. she looked up at him for a moment and their eyes met. Shiv then changed from his suit to something more casual and without saying anything to gauri walked out. Gauri's curiosity got the best of her and she went to look out the window and saw shiv's car drive off.
It's about 2 a.m now and everybody in the kapoor house was fast asleep except for gauri. She was pacing around the room thinking: 'it's so late….where could shiv be.' Then she heard a car come up the driveway and she let out a breath in relief knowing that shiv was home safe. But when she saw shiv come into the room she felt a piercing pain in her heart for the sight in front of her. There was shiv, with his hand around the waist of a girl with a dangerously short skirt. Shiv saw gauri and gave her a smirk.
Shiv: gauri go sleep in the outhouse for tonight... 'he looked at the girl next to him and grinned' I'm gonna need the room all to myself tonight.
The girl: who is she shiv?
Shiv: that sweatheart….is no one important. 'to gauri': didn't you hear what I told you…go from here.
Gauri lowered her gaze to the ground to hide the tears forming in her eyes. She started walking and stopped for a little bit next to shiv, looking at him. Shiv had an irritated look on his face, but when he saw gauri's sad eyes he couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Gauri quietly walked out of the room and heard the door close behind her.
