It was the sari Ekta mai had given her…..

Kaya had a confused look in her eyes…never before did her di ever refuse Prateek for anything…

When they reached the hotel…..the hotel was decorated like a dream…after all it was the success party of Prateek Singhania…the business tycoon…the who's who of the industry were present….and the man of the moment…Prateek looked at his smashing best in his designer outfit…..

He freaked out when he saw Gauri….

Prateek: What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you dressed like this? What about the dress I sent you? ….he yelled in front of everyone…

Kaya: Bhaiya…well it's my fault …I spilled coffee on the dress…that's why….

Gauri: Kaya…you don't need to lie…Prateek I wasn't comfortable with the outfit…that's why I didn't wear it…

Prateek: Not comfortable!…my foot…what do you mean by that???? You know what Gauri…the waiters out here are looking better than you…..

Prateek: thank God! My parents couldn't make it today….as they missed their flight…or else they would have rejected you outright….

Gauri: What due were you talking about Prateek?

Prateek: Well…he's a selfish dog….he wasn't approving my tender…till I threw 50 lakhs on his face…

Gauri: you mean you bribed him for this project….

Prateek: but obvious….that's how business works….now excuse me….I can see the Chief Minister coming…we'll talk later…

And he walked away to greet the CM….

Gauri….well….it didn't come as any surprise to her that Prateek could bribe anyone for a deal….

She recollected her time with Shiv….she remembered how he worshipped his work…but his worship was in the form of honesty, hardwork and dedication….she recalled how one of Shiv's colleagues took the credit for the project work which he did….yet he never complained…nor did he sulk over the partiality or the politics done by his seniors….his level of sincerity or dedication never went down…neither did his loyalty towards his work ever reduce….'Gauri I want to face myself at the end of the day… I know that I may lose out on my growth prospects or promotions…but at least my life will not proceed on any guilt feelings….!"

Till yesterday…she could not understand why Shiv was blocking his own growth chances…but today she understood what he meant…and she could not help but feel proud of her Shiv…

As the party proceeded…

Gauri was getting bored …Prateek was busy with his business clients…he didn't even glance at her….

Kaya: I'm really happy that you've finally managed to break free from that idiot's clutches…

Kaya couldn't complete her sentence….Gauri just slapped her….

"You know what Kaya…you deserved this slap long back….had it not been for Shiv…Thank your stars…that he loves you so much that he forgiven you inspite of you been such a disgrace!"

Prateek came there…."Gauri what nonsense is this? Why are you creating a scene?"

Kaya excused herself and went towards the washroom....there was a conversation between Prateek and Gauri …and towards the end…

"Prateek I'm bored…I want to go home…I just don't enjoy these kind of parties"

Prateek: u don't enjoy these parties? …Then what kind of parties do u enjoy….the cheap ones given by that idiot Shiv…

Gauri: Oh shut up Prateek…and how dare u call Shiv an Idiot? How dare you….

Gauri just walked out of the party…never before had she ever spoken to Prateek in this manner…but today she didn't regret anything…"how dare anyone speaks of my Shiv in this manner?" She thought….and paused…"My Shiv!"…She didn't know what was wrong with her…

PART 14:

Gauri decided to go back home walking….

She recollected how Shiv ,Di and Gopal used to go for their evening walks together…the fun they used to have on the way …they used to have a blast eating at their favourite joint…eating everything right from butta, vada-pav, chaat, bhel, paani-puri….'paani-puri'…she remembered how Shiv defeated her in the paani-puri challenge they had…she still couldn't believe that she actually ate 99 paani-puri's that day…whereas Shiv had 100…the way she fought with Shiv that day… and today she had a smile on her face remembering that fight…..

She just couldn't believe her eyes….when she saw Shiv, Mai, Gopal, Anupam and Ipshy at the paani puri center…but today the equation had changed…there was a paani puri contest between Anupam n Ipshy…n Shiv was cheering them…The sight of Shiv got a huge smile on her face…She decided to go and speak to him….at first she hesitated..then decided that she needs to talk to him…

"Hi Guys!"

All turned back…but other than Gopal no one replied back….

"Hi Shiv…How are you?"

Shiv: Well I'm always hale n hearty…. you've got a problem with that?

Gauri: No …Shiv you've got me wrong…Why would I have a problem with your happiness?

Shiv: Really??? Then tell me what brings you here….I mean isn't this place below your standards…

Ekta: Oh Shiv…Whats wrong with you….Look ur teams losing…Ipshy can't match up with Anupam…Cheer her up…rather than wasting your time on unnecessary matters…

Shiv: Ya…Di…your right…Come on Ipshy…ek aur kha lo….

Nobody gave any bhav to Gauri…She felt hurt…very hurt…she began walking back slowly…when…

Ekta: Wait a minute….

Gauri turned back…"yes Di…what happened?"

Ekta: Call me Ekta mai…that's what everyone calls me…only SHiv calls me di…understand?

Gauri: Yes Di…I mean Mai…

Ekta: That's better….Well Gauri…you have left behind your painting kit in Shiv's house….if you want , you can collect it tomorrow…or else I shall be disposing it off….I don't want any unwanted things or baggages in Shiv's house…do you understand?

Gauri: Yes, Di…I'll collect the items tomorrow…

Ekta: Great….the sooner Shiv gets rid of you and your things…the better it will be for him…

And she turned back to cheer Anupam….

Gauri had tears flowing down her eyes… She was not used to Shiv ignoring her ever…the manner in which he spoke to her hurt her…but then she recollected the way she spoke to Shiv the day she left her house…she could understand how hurt Shiv must have felt…she knew that Shiv was hurt…bitterly hurt

She walked a bit further when a dog just crossed her way …"Hold me Gauri….Gosh!…these dogs scare me to death! "She recollected, a petrified Shiv saying to her as he held her hand…and she used to tease Shiv for being scared of dogs…"Shiv…u'r such a baby…scared of dogs" …She used to love it when Shiv held her hand in his moment of fear…she secretly used to wish that many dogs crossed their way…so that he would hold her hand time and time again….naughty girl!

As she reached home…

"Di…I'm sorry for my behaviour…."

Gauri looked at Kaya but walked off without saying a word…

She called Shiv on his mobile….but that was switched off…"Anyways I'm going there tomorrow…" She thought….At that moment Ipshy reached home….Gauri went to her room….

Gauri:Hey Ipshy tell me…who won…u or dada….

Ipshy: Excuse me…but why do you want to know these details?

Gauri she didn't know what to say…she just walked off from there….when she was about to sleep…her mobile beeped….it was Prateek….

Gauri: Ya tell me, what is it now?

Prateek: Dare you speak to me in this tone ever again! Anyways…tomorrow morning…I'll be picking you up…My parents would be arriving in the morning….

Gauri: I'm really sorry Prateek…but I won't be able to come…I have some work…

Prateek: To hell with your work! Don't you understand my parents are coming and that's important…

Gauri:But my work is most important for me…..

Prateek: Oh yeah…what important work do you have to do? Clean your house…
