CHAPTER-9
The kids were very happy seeing the new place.
Manik hadn't taken the kids to his new bungalow as they were too small.
The kids were not used to be away from their family especially Padma and Nandini.
The kids started jumping here and there exploring the new place.
Manik felt relaxed that the kids have adapted to the new place so quickly.
He went to the kitchen to get some food for them.
The kids got tired and also they started to miss Nandini.
Aarav and Khushi came and sat on the sofa in the hall.
Manik prepared food for them and came out smiling.
His smile vanished seeing his kids pale faces.
He kept the plate on the table and went and sat near them.
Manik- What happened to my chotu babies?
Why are you so sad?
Didn't you like your new house?
Khushi - Ghar jaana hai Dadoo.
Manik- Beta yeh hamara ghar hi to hai.
Aarav- Nai . Nani ke ghar jaana hai.
Manik- Aaru Baby hum yahin rahne wale hai aajse. We shouldn't trouble Nani na.
Both the kids started crying and said in unison-
Nai. Mumma paas jaana hai. Abhi.
(They called Nandini as Mumma)
Manik got angry hearing this.(He thought they were talking about Anita)
He shouted- Stop it both of you. I don't want to hear anything . Dont you dare say that again. Go to your rooms right now.
Saying this he stormed out of the hall.
Aarav and Khushi stopped crying and looked at each other.
They have never seen Manik in so much anger.
They thought to apologize to him.
They searched him in the entire house and then went to the garden .
They saw Manik sitting on a bench lost in his thoughts.
They ran to him and both of them sat on his either side on the bench.
Manik looked at them and was about to stand up when Khushi hopped onto his lap and held both her ears.
Aarav also held his ears and both of them said in unison- Shoorry Dadoo.
Manik melted seeing their innocent faces and smiled.
Khushi and Aarav kissed both his cheeks and Manik kissed their cheeks one by one.
Khushi said- Dadoo bhook lagi hai. Tummy me itne bade rats dance kar rahe hai.
Saying this she spread her arms to show the size of the rats.
Aarav- Haan mujhe bhi bhook lagi hai.
Manik smiled seeing their cute antics and asked them-
To batao mere babies ko kya khana hai.
Khushi and Aarav thought for a while keeping index finger on their chin.
Unable to decide what to eat they looked at each other.
Then Aarav said something in Khushi's ears and Khushi nodded.
Then both of them said in unison- PIZZA.
Manik took out his mobile and ordered for Pizzas.
He took both of them inside the house and freshened them up.
The door bell rang and Manik went and took the Pizzas and ice cream after paying the delivery boy.
He served the Pizzas in a plate and called the kids to the table.
Khushi and Aarav came running and sat on the chairs.
They took a napkin each and placed it on their respective laps and started to pray before having food.
Manik felt happy seeing that his kids have basic morals and eating etiquettes inspite of their mother's absence.
After eating he washed their hands and sat on the couch with both of them on his lap. He fed them ice cream. They ate it happily with Manik's hands.
Then Manik asked them if they want to sleep or play.
They both looked at each other and said- Dadoo we want to do shleepy.
Manik took them to their room and put them on the bed and kissed their foreheads and went out.
They both pretended to sleep till Manik went out.
As soon as Manik left the room both of them got up from the bed .
