Chapter 7- New Beginnings..
Manik, Mukti Nandini and Alya reached the beach and headed towards the hut where Cabir, Navya and Dhruv were waiting for them.
They went inside the hut and Mukti kept looking at Manik angrily.
"What took you guys so long?" Asked Cabir. No one answered his question. He understood that something was definitely wrong.
"I need to make an important phone call, I'll be back.." Saying this, Nandini excused herself.
Manik kept staring the floor angrily. Mukti went near him but Manik didn't look up.
"Please don't start it all over again, Mukti." He said, still looking at the floor.
"For God Sake Manik, at least look at me!" She shouted angrily.
Cabir, Navya, Dhruv and Alya were silent all this while.
"Stop over-reacting Mukti. You're just making it a big issue.." Said Manik, looking into her eye.
"Oh, Am I?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Yes, you are."
"You were clearly taunting her, Manik!" Exclaimed Mukti.
"I was NOT taunting her Mukti." He snapped.
"Please, Manik! You are starting this all over again. Why do you want to complicate things, again? do saal pehle jo hua, wasn't that enough for you? We are meeting after 2 years, Damn it! Can't you just be normal?" Said Mukti in one single breath.
Everyone was stunned hearing this.
Oh shit! Oh no. Said Mukti to herself.
"Manik..I didn't mean to say that..I'm-
"So basically, do saal pehle jo hua.. it was all my fault?" Asked Manik.
"Guys, Just calm down.." Interfered Cabir, as the situation was becoming worse.
"Whatever!" Saying this, Manik left the hut in anger.
Mukti took a deep breath and kept her hands on her head in frustration. Cabir went to her, held her by her shoulders and said, "I think tunay kuch ziada boldya..You should go after him.."
Mukti nodded her head in a yes and said, "You're right..I should."

Manik was sitting on the bench near the sea shore. Mukti went to him and asked in a low voice, "Can we talk about it?"
"Talk about what?"
Mukti sat on the bench, crossing her legs. "Nandini." She said.
Manik looked at her. "What about Nandini? Look Mukti, I know I crossed the line in the car..I shouldn't have said that.."
Do you still love her? The words piled up in her mouth and stayed tangled there, a choking weight, because she couldn't ask him that.
"Cool." She said. "And oh yes, I'm sorry for-
"It's okay. I understand." Saying this, Manik side hugged her.
"Chal uth ab!" ordered Mukti.
"Kyun?"
"Chal naa. Uth! We came here to have fun, right? So chall, let's have some fun!" Said Mukti, excitedly.
"I need to talk to Nandini first." He said.
"About what?"
"Don't worry. I just wanna apologize."
"Okay." She replied nodding her head.

(As Nandini)
"Okay fine, Good luck.." Saying this, I disconnected the call and turned back but to my surprise, I saw Manik standing there folding his arms.
"What?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Look, I'm sorry.. I just..I don't know what happened to me.."
"It's okay.." I replied.
"So, we're cool right?"
"I guess.."
"Well Listen," She said, "Baby..That's Sneha..My friend."
Manik was shocked hearing this. "Oh." He said.
"Yeah.." I said. I didn't know what else to say. After all, It's so strange to encounter a person who once meant so much to you. It's like, you're in a foreign film, and what you're saying face to face has nothing to do with the subtitles flowing beneath you.
"So umm, let's go?" He asked.
"Yeah..Sure.."
We went inside the hut. "All Okay?" Asked Mukti looking at us.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Great."
"So Guys, Chalo let's go outside. We came here for a beach party!" Said Mukti.
As soon as we went outside, a huge crowd surrounded us.
"Omg Manik Malhotra!!"
"Look, Thats Manik! Oh My God, Am I dreaming?" The girls were going crazy for him. Afterall, It was a dream come true for them. People starting clicking pictures and I felt uncomfortable so I ran inside the hut. The rest of them were still outside with Manik.
"Gosh, I can't believe this. This is Mukti Wardhan, the fashion designer! Oh My God, you guys know each other?" I heard such questions being asked to them.
Well, I never wanted to be in the limelight So I just decided to avoid such situations. I took out my cellphone from my handbag and dialled a number,
"Hey, Hello? Is everything fine there?"
"No, Nandini. When are you coming back?"
"What do you mean? What Happened Sneha?"
"We just can't manage everything without you."
"I'll be back soon but for now, you have to manage things. Where's Sahir?"
"Sahir..Yeah, He's right here. He's coming to Goa tomorrow. You better hand over the designs to him. It's really urgent, Nandini!"
"Tomorrow!? Oh shit, No! Why didn't you tell me before?"
"What do you mean? Aren't they ready yet?"
"No. But, you don't worry. I'll complete it."
"You better do that!"
"Okay. Talk to you later. Bye."
I was extremely tensed and whenever I'm tensed, I start biting my nails.
"What's wrong?" Asked Manik.
"Nothing.." I said.
"Well, Whenever Nandini Murthy starts biting her nails, Something is definitely wrong!" He said, smirking.
I looked at him immediately. I was astonished to hear this. He still remember this. I told myself.
"It's just that-
"That what?" He asked.
"I have to complete some designs by tonight or else, I'm screwed!" I said in a tensed state.
"Ew, Nandini!" He said. I looked at him in a confused state. "What!?" I asked.
"Stop biting your nails first." He said making a disgusted face.
"Whatever!" I said rolling my eyes.
"Well, In that case, you know I can help you out." He said.
Ah, Yes! I still remember how once I was taking part in some competition and Manik helped me out with the dress designs. We stayed up all night long and completed the designs.
"Only if..You remember.." He said in a low voice.
"I do." I replied, immediately.
"So, Need My help?" He asked.
"Okay." I said. Well, What else could I do?
Manik Made an excuse to everyone that he has some important work to do. Everyone agreed and we drove back to the resort.
It was 7:30 Pm already.
Oh god, Sahir will be here in the morning. Come on Nandini, Buck up! I told myself.
"Hey hey! Relax. Don't Panic!" Manik instructed.
It was such a weird feeling. We stayed up all night long. He helped me with the designs. We smiled together, we talked, we actually spent time together.
"So, boutique and all, han?" He asked.
"Yeah..Life's been tough."
He was silent listening this.
"Surely.." He replied in a low voice.
"But no worries, Life has to be tough. Afterall, you got what you wanted. Your happiness.." I said.
He looked at me, letting his silence be it's own reply. The numbness had lifted and I could feel it now.
"So, any shoots here in Goa?" I asked, to change the topic.
"Yeah..Later.." He said. He was lost somewhere else.
I didn't say anything. We stayed silent. Both of us knew that this conversation was going somewhere it's not supposed to go.
"So," He said, "I should leave now.."
"Yeah. Okay..Thankyou for helping mr out anyway" I replied.
He smiled and headed towards the door. Suddenly, he stopped and turned back to look at me.
"Nandini.." He said.
"Hmm?"
"Um..Before you assume, try this crazy method called asking." Saying this, he left the room.
What? I asked myself.
