Chapter 4b: Feelings and Flirting

Nandini's POV:

"Fab 5! Fab 5! Fab 5!", the crowd cheered on as I made my way through them, searching for Navya and Abhi. I stood on tip toe , looking here and there over the crowd, finally spotting them, close to the stage.

"Hi!", I said, tapping Navya on her shoulder.

"Nandu! Kaha thi tum ?!", Abhi asked, both had a bewildered expression on their faces.

"Itna waqt kyun laga? Phone nahi mili kya?", Navya asked.

And that brought me back to what really happened. Sigh! Y does he have to be so charming and irresistible?? All that flirty looks and talks. The way he was describing the lead singer.. Uff! It was as if he was talking about himself.. Wait, that's not possible. It can't be him. Can it? Nah. Although, Cabir was holding drumsticks...Shit! Cabir!!! I totally forgot that he was there listening to our banter.. He must have thought that I was crazy. He was sweet though...

"Kahan khogayi tum? Nandu?", Navya shook me hard , bringing me into reality.

"Wo... me...", But before I could think of some reason a voice was heard over the crowd.

"Helllooo! Wassup guys!! Are you ready for a rocking performance??".

"Yes!!", The crowd replied.

"I can't hear you", said the host.

"YES!!!", the sound was deafening.

"So here's our very own favorite, Fab5!!!", saying this the host walked of the stage.

The beats of the drum filled the hall, as the crowd roared. People were already jumping, waving their hands and the band hadn't started yet.

I looked up at the stage and sure enough I saw Cabir at the drums, banging away. He was really good and it looked like he was having fun.

Next up, a guitar started playing on the right. It was Mukti. She seemed like a different person while playing the guitar, fully focused.

Two more people walked onto the stage, a girl, looking like a diva, started playing the keyboard and the other guy was Dhruv. I knew he played the guitar but I didn't know that he played so well. And I definitely didn't know he was part of a band.

Suddenly something flashed in my head. If Cabir, Mukti and Dhruv were all part of Fab5 then...

And right on cue , Manik walked onto the stage, with a guitar and stood at the center , just as the crowd went wild. I probably had a look of amazement and surprise on my face.

"So this is Fab5. And Manik", I broke into a smile thinking, "Aiyappa, kudka inta tareef kar rahatha". And then I remembered something else what he said. "Shayad wo thumpe fida ho", I could hear his voice say.

He was talking about himself the whole time. Did he really mean it? Wo? Aur mujpe fida? I don't think so. He was probably kidding. Or was he?

Silence broke into my thoughts...

All of a sudden, Manik started to play a tune and the others followed. It seemed a slow melody, like a romantic song type.

"Saari raat aahein bharta
Pal pal yaadon me marta
Maane na meri mann mera..."

He sang, his voice sending shivers down my spine. I couldn't help but look at him in awe. The crowd was enthralled. He was simply amazing. He was definitely a heartthrob. I lied, awaz hi kaafi hai fida honekeliye. I smiled looking directly at him. He grinned right back at me.

"Thode thode hosh madhoshi si hai
Neend behoshi si hai
Jaane kuch bhi na mann mera..
Kabhi mera tha pal ab begaana hai yeh
Deewana deewana samjhe na hoo..."

His eyes pierced mine. It was as if he was singing for me and me alone, even though I was immersed in a huge crowd. I felt my cheeks turn red at that thought. Kya Nandu, he's just messing with you. But it was of no use. I was already trapped in his spell. Just hearing his voice sent butterflies flying in my stomach. It was hard to control myself, as his gaze never left mine.

"Kabhi chup chup rahe kabhi gaaya ye kare
Bin pooche teri tareefen sunaya ye Karen
Hai koi haqeeqat tu ya koi fasana hai
Kuch jaane agar tho itna ki yeh tera deewana hai
Hai re mann meraaa... mane na mann meraa..."

I tried to change my expressions, as if to say that I wasn't affected by him, acting cool and all. But it was as if he saw right through my facade. His jaw dropping smirk appeared on his face making my knees go weak. That was all that it took for me to start blushing profusely. I bit my lip to prevent him from noticing. His smirk grew wider indicating that he knew of the effect he has on me.

"Rag rag wo samaya mere
Dil par wo chaaya mere
Mujh me wo aise jaise jaan
Gire barsath me PANI jaise
Koi kahaani jaise
Dil se ho dil tak jo bayaan
Aashiq dil tera purana hai yeh
Deewana deewana samjhe na hoo..."

I didn't know what I was feeling, as it was something I never felt before. He made me feel special, his eyes communicating the same. I had completely forgotten my surroundings. It was as if I was in a trance.

"Kabhi chup chup rahe kabhi gaaya ye kare
Bin pooche teri tareefen sunaya ye Karen
Hai koi haqeeqat tu ya koi fasana hai
Kuch jaane agar tho itna ki yeh tera deewana hai
Hai re mann meraaa... mane na mann meraa..."

Our eyes continued their silent conversation , as he stepped down from the stage and walked towards me, still singing. Omg!! He's coming towards me. I looked here and there , not able to meet his eyes.

"Thujko ko jo dekhe yeh mujhko leke
Bas tere peeche peeche bhaage..."

Next thing I know, he's right in front of me. I looked down on the floor. He lifts his hand and tucks in a loose strand of hair behind my ear. His hand moves down to mine, holding it and begins twirling me around. A huge smile breaks out on my face as he does so. He stops abruptly and pulls me to him, my back to his front, with a sudden jerk.

"Tera junoon hai tu hi sukoon hai
Thujse hi baanden dik ke dhaage..."

I look up to find Manik was not next to me. Cabir hit the drums, bringing my focus to the stage. And Manik was there, on the stage, singing. Realization struck me. All that happened was my imagination. Someone else had bumped into me, giving me a wakeup call. I felt like smacking my head. "Nandini Murthy , yeh ho kya gaya tumhe?"

"Kabhi chup chup rahe kabhi gaaya ye kare
Bin pooche teri tareefen sunaya ye Karen
Hai koi haqeeqat tu ya koi fasana hai
Kuch jaane agar tho itna ki yeh tera deewana hai
Hai re mann meraaa... mane na mann meraa..."

The song was over. But its effects were still present. The crowd roared, including Navya and Abhi, whom I'd totally forgotten. I glanced at the stage just in time to see Manik give me once last look before walking off the stage.

No one's POV:

"Kya performance tha yaar!", Navya exclaimed.

"Aakir kisne bulaya tha dekhne keliye", said Abhi taking credit.

"Oh hello! Tumne koi itna bada ehsaan nahi kiya hai humpe. Tumhare bina bi aasakthe the", Navya argued.

"Nandu tum samjao apne is dost ko ki hum yahan mere kehne pea aye hai", Abhi said with a smug look on his face. But on getting no reply , he turns towards Nandini, who seemed to be in a dreamland of who else, but our handsome hunk Manik.

"Nandini!!", Abhi yelled , shaking her.

"Haan... Kya?", she asked , not knowing that she was dreaming.

Fab5 made their way , through the crowd, surrounded by their fans. While everyone was busy enjoying the attention, our majnu Manik was craving the looks of someone else. He was craning his neck over everybody to get a glimpse of the petite beauty that had filled his senses. He knew that she must have felt something too, with the way she was looking at him during the performance.

He spotted her, walking ahead with her friends. He had yet to know her name. All he wanted to know was what she thought of his singing, but he couldn't think of an excuse to leave without anyone questioning him. Cabir looked at Manik to find him distracted. He followed his line of sight to where Manik was looking.

"Acha... Tho bhaisab yahan khogaye..", thought Cabir. "Ab yeh tho kuch nahi karnewala, mujhe hi kuch karna padega."

Cabir made a move towards where Nandini was, but Manik seeing this stopped him.

"Kahan jaraha hai thu?", asked Manik.

"Ek dost se milne. Bas puchna tha ki performance kaisi lagi.", and turned, but Manik didn't let go of him yet.

"Ab yeh konsa dost hai? Aur wo bi jisne kabhi bhi humari performance nahi dekhi ho?", he enquired.

"Ek nayi dost hai. Tum tho usse kaise jaanoge. Wo yahan nahi padthi. Agar milna chathe ho tho milwaunga, par tumhare nazre uspse hatne tho do. Goor goor ke jo dekh raheho usse.",Cabir said with a sly smile.

Manik realized whom he was talking about but he was not going to admit it.

"Saale...", but Cabir skipped off.

Nandini, Navya and Abhi had just come out when Abhi gets a call. He moves aside to speak as he couldn't hear over the noise. While waiting, Cabir appears before them.

"Hey princess!", Cabir said, all smiles.

"Hi Cabir," Nandini replied with a warm smile.

"Tho kaisa laga Fabulous Fab5 ka performance??", he asked excitedly. Before she could reply, Manik stood next to Cabir.

"Hi...". He said weakly, totally nervous. "O God!, Me nervous kyun horaha hoon? Relax Manik..", He tried to calm down.

Nandini, on the other hand, thought of teasing him a bit.

"Oh Cabir, Accha hua ke tum milgaye. I just wanted to say ki you are amazing. Like tumhara style, the way you play the drums, simply fantastic!", Nandini exclaimed enthusiastically. The look on Manik's face was priceless. He was stunned.

Cabir was surprised by her reaction, but knew what she was up to. So he decided to play along.

"Thank you so much princess. I'm flattered. Par yeh to puri band ka kamal hai, pura Fab5 ka performance tha. Aur log bhi the. Tum na todi muhje hi dekh rahi thi..", He said casually, waiting for Manik's reaction.

"Arre Cabir, band ho tho kya hua.Me tho sirf tumhe hi jaanthi hoon na. Isliye tumhe hi dekh rahi thi.", she said patting his arm.

Manik was getting restless hearing what she said. "What the...?!", he was controlling his anger. He was also getting pissed at Cabir for calling her "princess", He was desperate to know her name.

Navya, who was silent till now, just amazed at the people in front of her, spoke up, fearing that Manik would feel bad.

"Lekin sabne bohot accha perform kiya. Lead singer ne tho halla machadi.", Everyone turned to look at her.

"Aur tum kon ho?", Cabir asked, interested in Navya.

Navya blushed. "Hum Navya.. Navya Naveli..", she said looking down.

Cabir thought it was cute the way she was blushing. Manik on the other hand, had not noticed her. He was busy glaring at Nandini, who was trying to look anywhere but him. Cabir took note of this and knew that Manik was dying to talk to her. So he decided to leave these two alone for a bit.

"So, Navya..", Cabir held her hand and took her aside.

Nandini was looking at them, thinking that they make a cute couple, when she heard some movement. It was Manik. He had stepped closer to her.

"Tho .. Tumhe Cabir ka performance bohot pasand aya..",he said glaringly.

"Hmm..", she said, feeling her heart beat fast.

"Aur tum sirf usse hi dekh rahithi na..", he confirmed.

"Haa..", she said hesitantly, not sure of what he's getting at.

"Tho fir tum mujhe kyun line maar rahithi! Me todi Cabir hoon.".

Nandini was shocked.

"What?! Line maar rahithi?? Aur tumhe?! Oh please... Me itni bi desperate nahi hoon", she said with a whatever attitude.

"Tum janthe nahi me khon hoon teek hai. Dikayi nahi diya kya? Itne saare fans jo hai.", he said, feeling proud.

"Showoff kahika. Samajtha kya hai apne aapko..", she mumbled to herself.

"She looks so cute when she's angry", Manik was thinking. By now he had regained his confidence, so he flirted openly.

"Ab gaana tho maine gaaya.. Pasand huwa ho ya nahi wo tumhari marzi..", he said nonchalantly, as if to say "I know I'm awesome".

"Mene to pehlehi kaha tha , Me sirf awaaz pe fida nahi hoti.", she said with a pout. All he wanted to do was kiss that cute pout of hers. "Manik...! Get a grip of yourself..", he thought.

"Yaad hai mujhe... Aur yeh bhi yaad hai performance ke time pe jo tumne mere aakon me aaken daal kar dekh rahithi.", he said huskily.

She felt herself melt at his voice. She couldn't pretend that she hadn't noticed him sing anymore.

"Aur kya karthi me ... Jo tumne meri nazar churaliya..", She said, turning a deeper shade of red.

He was astonished at her sweet confession. She too was surprised at what she said. Manik stepped closer to her , he lifted her face with his hand.

"Tumne apna naam nahi bataya..", he said , waiting to hear her answer.

Nandini couldn't find the words to reply, she couldn't even look at him, her shyness taking over.

"Cabir tumhe princess bula saktha hai , tho fir me tumhe kis naam se pukaaru? Chahe tho I can only keep some sweet sa name for you", he whispered, still closer to her.

Her heart was pounding in her chest at the proximity. She finally gathered up some courage and looked into his eyes.

She was about to give him his most awaited answer when "Nandini!".

She turned around to see Abhi, she had completely forgotten about him.

Manik was pissed. "Ab yeh konsa langur hai, bloody wrong timer!".

"Babydoll, chalo. Me tumhe ghar drop kartha hoon.", Abhi said, putting an arm around her protectively. He didn't know what was going on between Manik and Nandini and he didn't trust Manik one bit.

Manik was getting angrier hearing him call her Babydoll. Nandini took note of this. "Aww.. How sweet! He's jealous..", she thought. She wanted to see how he'd react.

By this time, Navya and Cabir reappeared. Navya was smiling, probably enjoyed Cabir's company.

"Chalo na Abhi..", she said holding Abhi's hand. "Chale Navya".

"Haan. Bye Cabir", she waved to him and walked off.

Nandini turned to look at Manik and knew it had worked. His wide eyed expression showed exactly what she wanted to know; he was super jealous!

"Bye Cabir!", she said , giving him a big smile, before moving on."

"See you princess.", Cabir said, waving.

He couldn't help but laugh by looking at Manik's face. Manik was about to blast. She said bye to Cabir but not him!

"Cabir! What's all this "princess" business huh?!", Manik glared at him.

"Arre yaar. Thoda chill kar. Wo princess jaisi dikthi hai. Isiliye Princess bulatha hoon. Mujhe uska naam thodi na patha", he said.

Something flashed in Manik's head. Her name. That bloody moron had said her name... Nandini. Immediately a smile appeared on his face.

His heart seemed to flutter at the mention of her name. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Now that he knew her name, it was impossible to get her out of his mind and wanted nothing more than to get to know her more. It's like her name was already etched in his heart.

"Nandini...", he sighed deeply, in wonder.

OMG..
