<font color="#0033CC">Hola People! I am here with my second piece based on my favourite novel "Daddy Long Legs". I know its a classic and pretty boring for many of you here but that story had a beautiful love story which was hidden all throughout the way and wasn't that prominent. But don't worry, this is going to be Manan totally and I won't disappoint you. I have written another FF on Manan- My Sky Full Of Stars, which most of you here are unaware about. If possible do read it.😳
<font color="#000000" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font size="5">Prologue
<font size="4">Sitting on the edge of her room's dusty window, she was busy admiring the world outside. The world which called her to explore it and find new things. But here she was stuck, stuck for all her life, in this orphanage which gave her shelter when her parents left the world. She was 17 and was going to turn 18 tomorrow.
Her schooling was done and she was eager to go to college, away from this prison, which had held her for the last 18 years of her life.
Lost in her thoughts about her future, she heard Rama, their care taker shout," Get your lazy ass off the window sill and help the kids get ready! Don't you know it's the Trustees' Meet today?"
Nandini was the eldest inhabitant of the orphanage. Beautiful, innocent and naughty, everyone was sure that the childless couples would be delighted to have her, but as it turned out, no body ever came. Everyone in the orphanage was puzzled at first as she was the most pretty kid you could ever have, but little did they know that their head manager, Nyonika, never wanted to let her go. She wanted her all for herself and this meant trapping Nandini in the orphanage.
Nandini was very fond of Nyonika as she treated her as a daughter and gave her all the motherly love when she would come to stay in the orphange for one week in every four months.
Nandini jumped off the window sill and got to work. "This is the most important day of my life! I hope the Trustees are satisfied with my performance and let me go to college! Aiyappa! Please let everything be alright! I hope Nyonika Maa is able to convince them all."
The trustees came and the children were strictly instructed to behave their best or they would eat oats in breakfast, lunch and dinner for the following month. Once all the trustees were sent to the conference room to talk about the future of some kids, the others were all sent to bed.
"Nandu di, will you leave us and go? I heard Chachi saying that you were going to go to college and leave us."ðŸ˜
All the kids, who were very attached to their Supa Nandu Di, jumped on her and started sobbing when they heard she was going to leave them.
"My babies, I love you too and trust me I will miss you all very very much. But I need to go and study so that I can earn a name for myself and then I will come back to all of you with lots and lots of chocolate and toys." Their eyes started to sparkle out of excitement and all jumped on her for a big hug. Finally, making them sleep, she turned around to see Nyonika, admiring the way she took care of the kids.
Nandini could see tears in her eyes and was going to say something when Nyonika said,"Come Nandu, I need to talk to you about your new college."
Hearing the word college, Nandini started to jump with excitement, but looking at the sleeping faces of her sweethearts she went to Nyonika's cabin to talk to her.
"Nandini, I have talked to the trustees and they believe that you deserve to go to college. You will be sent to SPACE in Mumbai, which is the college owned by one of our trustees. I hope you will keep on maikng us proud."
"Maa! Yay! I am going to college! I can't believe this. I will miss you all so much. But can you tell me the trustee's name? I want to thank him."
"Nandu, I can't tell you his name but you can see him there, out of the window."
Nandini was very excited an jumped to look out of the window, but all she could see was a man with long legs who was sitting inside a BMW.
"Nandini, you will start college from the next week and you will be going to Mumbai tomorrow. The trustee has sponsored your college but he wants you to write letters to him in return of his benevolence. You will tell him everything about your day, all the friends you make, where you will go and what you need. Remember, do not go against his wishes as he will do everything in your best interest. And Nandu, I will miss you my child!" She kissed Nandini's head and Nandini was dancing with joy.
Freedom, Finally!
