Part 3

"Nandini , get up sweety...we have an appointment with your gynae today" he said lovingly caressing my forehead.

"sone do na Maanik...pls" I said with my eyes still closed.

"Arrey how can u sleep nandini...Today you are due for a sonography.We'll see our babies" he called out excietedly from the dresser.

How could I forget.Today was going to be a memorable day.Today we were supposed to meet our babies again.

"Manik where are you? Come here naa" I got up but my eyes still closed

"Aa gya baba...was just getting ready. Here I am right in front of u"

"Ok " I said and slowly opened my eyes .It was a pure bliss to watch his face first thing in the morning when I opened my eyes.This had become a routine during my pregnancy.

"Are you sure that babies will look like me by doing this?" he asked for the umptieth time

"ab subah utthte hi tumhe dekhungi to tumhare jaise hi honge na" I pecked his lips and got up to get ready.

At the hospital

"Ok so shall we start Mr. and Mrs. Malhotra " The doctor said taking her seat in front of the ultrasound machine.

Manik sat beside me holding my hand.I could see his excietment.The doctor rubbed the gel on my tummy and started pressing with the tranducer. The blur images of the sac started developing on the screen.I could see the smile widening on his face.

" so here you go Mr Malhotra,your babies have developed eye lashes and react to light" She said pointing towards the screen.His eyes were fixed on the screen while my eyes were fixed on him.The glory of seeing him happy was incomparable to anything in the world.

"see one of them is sucking his thumb and they are moving the legs."He said joyously.I could feel the zeal in his voice.

"Yes" the doctor said smiling " probably they are showing their excitement on seeing their parents Mr. malhotra"

I could see tears forming in the corners of his eyes. I pressed his hand gently and we exchanged a glances .

"Doctor, if u don't mind can I pls touch the screen to feel my babies"He said unable to move his eyes off the screen.

"Sure" she said with a big smile.

Manik came ahead and lovingly caressed the screen.He touched both the babies one by one trying to feel them.I was so touched by this gesture of his.I wanted to hold him there and then.Both of us were lost in the moment.Being parents was proving to be one of the best feelings in the world.

Later the doctor told a few things to manik to be careful about as I had entered the third trimester of my pregnancy. She prescribed the supplements and we left the hospital.

FINAL PART
