Chapter Nine.
She stood up, trying to increase the distance that prevailed the two. While she stepped back, he held her. Her eyes shot wide at him, but he didn't care. Avoiding his pierced eyes, she spoke, "I don't have the time. So spit all that you have." She wasn't in a condition to stay conscious under his dark gaze not for long.
"I have a lot to spit but will you let me do all of it?" His voice seemed huskier than ever. Her breath hitched at an instant. She literally had no clue what was he asking for.
"Do you have anything to say? Or I should be leaving?" She shot an instant glare. She wasn't going to fall weak. When he didn't respond, she turned to leave. And then he held her wrist, pulling her back into his arms, where she belonged. Lifting his hand, his fingers threaded into the dense curls as his thumb soothingly rubbed around her cheek. With a sharp intake of breath, her eyes went wide only to soften. She looked into his eyes, it reflected guilt - his eyelashes lowered onto the ground as it felt heavy with guilt. He inched forward, linking his forehead to hers. She felt an inexperienced emotion rush through her. But she stayed still, wanting him to proceed.
"I know... in fact I realize what I did to you wasn't right. I was wrong... I was not able to make out what went into my head. I was just... I... I messed it up." he couldn't manage the words to explain what it was like, what he meant but the last few words were shaky.
"I realize what is done... what I did, was not right.. and.." she looked at him, expectantly, he wasn't able to put up an apology. He had never had. However, today the case was different - He wanted to but he couldn't, he couldn't gather the courage to face her and apologize. He had done nothing great to seek forgiveness.
"I know you won't ever forgive me..." he sighed, "neither you should.." Her eyes glued at his face as he freed her from his hold. "But before you leave I have something to confess-" he continued only to pause. Her heart throbbed faster against her chest.
"It is late for me to realize but what I feel for you isn't lust. It never was, it is more than lust." He spoke his heart out. He knew nothing of it made sense. It never did make sense to him. But there was something that made him wanting to speak.
