MANAN'S POV

"Are you sure that you want to do this?" Mom had asked us this question for like the thousandth time now!

"Yes mom... We're sure. And maasi, before you pitch in, yes hum time pe khana khayege, we'll call you every single day, we'll try our best not to get in trouble - though we can't make any promises on that one, we'll be good kids, and we won't do anything that is against ours or your conscience!"

The girl said it all in one breath... I seriously don't know kaha se itni energy lekar aati hai! But iski isse energy ki vaja se, we are finally doing what we should've a long time ago!

"Oye... Kaha kho gaya?!" Asked Sapna

Now everyone was looking at me, and there was no way that I was going to admit that I was actually praising my obnoxious sister. So, I answered, " Mein bas yehi soch raha tha that I will have to live with THIS one (pointing at Laddoo) with her non-stop bakwas, and no mom to shut her up... Maasi, aap na maata rani se ek special request kardeo so mein paagal-waagal na hojaun!"

Laddoo was glaring daggers at me, and I'm pretty sure was ready with a cannon-ball response, when mausaji - also known as my savior - popped in and said "Chalo, ab saari packing hogaye right? We still have 2 hours until we have to leave, so thora family time hojaye?!"

We all went downstairs and had the food prepared by our mothers... Food we won't be able to have for a year... I looked at Laddoo and Sapna and realized that they were thinking about the same thing... I'm not exactly an expert at making a light-hearted situation like my sister, but, I'm not so bad at it either. So, I picked up a piece of lettuce from the salad, and threw it at Sapna. She looked up, and I looked away. Because Laddoo was sitting next to her, the poor girl assumed that she was the one who threw it, and Sapna ended up throwing another piece of lettuce at Laddoo. Laddoo was shocked as to why Sapna did that, and threw another piece of lettuce at her, but this time, Sapna was alert, and ducked, the lettuce then hitting mausaji. Mausaji tried to hit Laddoo, but his aim went really off, and he ended up hitting mom - who was across the table. Mom got some spaghetti and hit Laddoo with it, next thing you know, it was a food fight.

Everyone was laughing and throwing their uneaten food at each other - the fact that we won't see each other for the next year forgotten. I quietly sneaked to the great room to retrieve my phone, and then returned to the dining area where everyone was still busy throwing chunks of food at each other. I pulled up the camera application on my phone, and took pictures of everyone smiling, laughing, drenched in wads of lettuce, cucumbers, spaghetti, and pasta sauce. It was a sight to see.

SAnIra, NavShad, and Nandu were at the airport - their food fight had ended, and all of them had changed into more decent clothes. NavNi couldn't stop their tears and Harshad was about to break as well. SAnIra couldn't see their parents in such form - and they were pretty close to losing it as well, so they made their farewells very quick. Sapna and the twins hugged NavShadNi respectively, and then all of them shared a group hug, promising to take care of themselves and each other, and to call their parents every single day, SAnIra left their parents - sparing them a final glance and wave.
