Chapter-8

Cabir jumped into Nandini's balcony and entered her room to look at the most beautiful scene in front of his eyes. Nandini was looking so adorably cute while sleeping.

"Booo!" Cabir shouted behind her and as expected Nandini freaked out and screamed as loudly as she could.

Manik, Tiksha, Sujata and Rahul ran inside her room after listening to her shouts. And see the funniest scene in front of their eyes. Cabir was badly getting beaten up by Nandini by a pillow.

"Kamine! Pta hai mai kitna darr gyi thi! Upar se foreign bhoot kitne darwane hote hain pta hai? Saale tu na bht pitega! Agar sach mein bhoot hota to? Hey bhagwan!" Nandini was shouting on him and beating him vigorously and Manik and Tiksha were smiling at their friends while Rahul and Sujata were exchanging confused glances.

"Apne boyfriend ko itna kaun torture krta hai Nandu? Bas kar ruk ja!" Sujata said still standing at the doot in shock.

"Boy friend hain? Nandini ye kab hua?" Cabir asked laughing uncontrollably.

"Cabir she is my sister." Nandini said in an irritating tone.

"Oh I see. Samjh gya!" Cabir again broke into laughter and even Manik started giggling too.

Nandini glared at both of them so that they could stop meanwhile Tiksha went to the kitchen again to finish preparing the breakfast. Rahul knew everything as Manik told him so he too went out leaving MaNanBir and Sujata inside the room.

Nandini was sitting on the bed, Cabir was half lying and Manik was standing by the wardrobe. Sujata were seeing all of them confused still standing at the door and the trio were giggling slowly which confused Sujata more.

"Koi mujhe btayega ki yahn kya ho rha hai?" Sujata spoke at last breaking the giggle-full silence.

Cabir and Manik told her everything which happened. And again broke out into laughter only to get another threatening glare from Nandu.

"Yaar mtlb ye sab uss Harshad ka kiya dhara hai. Uss din mamma ko usi ka phone aya tha." Sujata said and ran towards Nandu to hug her.

But, our dear bodyguards came in the way blocking her passage and Nandu smiled. Sujata raised her eyebrow into a what look when they both said in unison, "You lost that right when you didn't trust her."

And this was enough for Nandu to get emotional while adoring her two bimbos. She hugged them both from the back tightly while Sujata got embarrassed and took a leave.

"I love you both!" She said and hugged them tighter. Cabir said that he has to freshen up and he will join them at the breakfast.

Nandini started to go when Manik held her back.

"What?" Asked our confused Nandu.

"You love me haan?" Manik asked raising one of his eyebrows and smirking.

It took a while for Nandini to understand what he meant and when she did she got so embarrassed and said, "Aaa... Wo... Maii..." Nandini was stammering badly while her cheeks were going all red. And for the first time in her life she was cursing her cheeks.

"Wo mai kya?" Manik asked acting all innocent.

"Wo actually I love you but as a friend. Don't you remember that we were best friends before?" Nandini tried to act smart.

"Acha?" Manik asked in her ever-husky tone.

"Haa...han na." Nandini said still stammering. And Manik pulled her closer to him and held by her waist.

He went near her ear and huskily said, "I will get you at any cost, Ms Nandini Murthy." Nandini once again went all red. Again those cursing session to her own cheeks!

"Nandu aaja breakfast is ready." Tiksha shouted from outside breaking their trance. She immediately straightened herself and ran outside leaving a smirking Manik inside.

They all gathered together for breakfast. Seating arrangements:- Manik, Nandini, Cabir and on the opposite side Rahul, Sujata and Tiksha.

"Tiksha I can't eat this food. I don't want to die. I am still young. Abhi to meri shadi bhi nahi hui." Nandini started acting dramatically as she knows that Tiksha loves experimenting with food and most of the time spoils it to the core!

"Yar bakwas mat kar and eat. Maine tere liye special momos bnaye hain." Tiksha said excitedly.

"Oh my God I love momos! I am surely eating them." Cabir said and started taking serving himself when Nandini spoke, "Bhai. You want to get hospitalized?"
"No! Shadi to meri bhi nai hui hai." And they both started giggling.

"Yaar khao na! They are good. Maine taste kiya hai." Tiksha said making a pout and all of them started eating the food while making cute faces in between just to tease her.

It was a worthy breakfast after days which felt like ages. Sujata was feeling awkward in between them and said that she would live in a hotel for the remaining day. Nandini didn't have any problem and said goodbye to her. They all left for the college. They were at the gate entering, when a girl shouted, "Nandini" from the back. Nandini knew who she was and murmured "Alya" before turning.

She turned back and saw the pretty petite doll standing at a distance of approx 5-6 meters. They both took huge steps to cover the distance and hugged each other tightly.

"Guys! She is Alya, my friend." Nandini smiled and made her greet everyone.

Cabir awkwardly smiled whereas Manik genuinely smiled and hugged her. Tiksha was giving Nandini When-did-that-happen looks because she was her childhood best friend.

"Arre do you remember when I went to Bombay for that competition? I met her there. We were amazingly bonded in only one month." Nandini explained and then side hugged Alya.

"Okay fine! Now let's go we are getting late." Tiksha pulled Nandini with her.

"Oye bhn ruk to jaa." Nandini said but her voice was deaf in the ears of the great Tiksha. She was just pulling her without any break. She got her into a secluded area and said, "Yar ye Alya kch theek nai lag rhi..."

"Hain? Pagal hai kya? She's very sweet. Chal ab bye I am getting late. Meri class hai." Nandini replied and ran away from there, leaving a very confused Tiksha behind.

On the other side, Manik got comfortable around Alya whereas Cabir sensed something fishy about her. She had the same course as Manik so she went with him and Cabir excused himself and went in the canteen. He so loved to bunk classes you know. He was getting bored alone so he messaged Nandini.

Cabir: Kahan hai chottu? Kyun hai? Kya kar rhi hai? Kyun kar rhi hai?
Nandini: Cabir dimag na kha. Class mein hun.
Cabir: Class mein kya kar rhi hai?
Nandini: Romance -_-
Cabir: Akele akele? :o
Nandini: ...tu theek hai na...
Cabir: Yar bht pakk rha hun akela baithe baithe
Nandini: Fir mujhe kyun pakka rha hai? Jaa ke Manik ka dimag kha bye
Cabir: Abe sun to! I am alone in the canteen. Actually, Manik na alya ke sath hai
Nandini: Alya ke sath? Mtlb? What are you saying Cabir?
Cabir: J' kyun ho rhi hai? Wo dono class mein gye hain aur main bunk mar rha hun.
Nandini: Main nai ho rhi J wo to bs aise hi puch rhi thi. Now bye!
Cabir: Okahy bye!

On the other side, Manik and Alya were bonding well. Alya knew him already as he used to stay in Mumbai only and moreover they were in the same school. Alya had a huge crush on him but couldn't tell him and Manik didn't even know her name before. Their interests were matching so that's why Manik was talking to her. But who knew that she was just doing it on purpose to impress him!

Tiksha was roaming confusingly in the corridors in search of her Chemistry class which she couldn't find. Furthermore, she was already 15 minutes late so she decided to skip the class and go to the canteen. There, she found Cabir and they both started talking.

Cabir: So, Tiksha jee ham abhi tak apko dhang se nai jante. Kuch btaye apne charitra ke bare mein.

Tiksha: Yar ye bakwas bad mein karna! I am tensed.

Cabir: Tensed? Kyun kya hua?

Tiksha: Yar wo Alya!

Cabir: Kya Alya? What are you trying to say?

Tiksha: Yar I am suspicious. Mujhe kch gadbad lag rhi hai.

Cabir: Wow same pinch. Kch to gadbad zarur hai. Let's just try to find information about her. Chal administration office mein daka dalte hain.

Tiksha: Haan chal good idea!

They high-fived each other and went in search of the administration office.

Nandini wasn't giving any attention to the lecture. She was lost in thoughts.
Why am I getting jealous of Alya? Wo to meri itni achi dost hai upar se she knew ke I had a crush on Manik when we used to play. Aiyappa I am so confused! Tiksha kya keh rhi thi uske bare mein? Was she right? No no Nandini what are you thinking? Alya is such a sweet girl. But I should be careful naa!

"Nandini!" She heard a loud voice from her side and turned to find a concerned Mukti.

"Are you okay? The class is over and I am calling you since the last 5 minutes. Where were you lost?" She asked in one go and waited for her reply.

"Actually I am tired; I didn't get good sleep yesterday so that's why." Nandini managed to reply after thinking for a long time.

"Are you sure?" Mukti asked narrowing her eyes. Jugga Jasoos.

"I think I should go home." Nandini replied and gave her a faint smile and with that started packing her notes and pens in her handbag.

"I will drop you. C'mon!" Aryamann spoke from behind. Actually he was talking to some girl name Navya sitting with him and that's why didn't notice the pondering between them both but heard the last sentence of Nandini.

"Aise kya ghoor rhi ho? Come Mukti you too join us. Coffee peeyenge moti ke ghar pe." He winked and said and walked out of the class playing with his car keys.

"C'mon Nandini!" Mukti said and we both went out.

She called Cabir and informed him that she is going to home with Mukti and Aryamann and that they shouldn't wait for her. She wanted to inform Manik too so she called him but he didn't picked up and she got more disturbed.

The trio was in the parking lot when she paused and saw the most unexpected. Manik hugging Alya tightly! Her head was paining and something in her chest too! Her heart! Is he playing around with me? She asked herself and that's when Mukti pulled her into the car.

"Tujhe kya hogya hai yaar! Chill na!" Mukti said and turned up the volume.

"Btw motu we need your address warna hm yahin footpath pe chod denge tujhe." Aryamann asked Nandu and threw a Coca cola bottle at the back seat for Nandini

Nandini told them the address and they reached within minutes. Aryamann asked us to wait as he has got a call.

"Yes Mom!"

"Hmm. I'm at a friend's place."

"What? Tell me at least."

"Okay I am coming." And he cut the call and faced us.

"Sorry guys I need to go. My mother has a surprise for me. Hope it's not my bride." Aryamann said and started to go. "Yar fir mujhe drop kaun krega? Sun Nandu we'll come tomorrow ok?" She hugged her and ran inside the car. She waved them and went inside and crashed into the bed.
I am getting negative vibes. Aiyappa sab theek kardo! Nandini prayed and slept hugging herself.

Cabir and Tiksha also saw Manik and Alya hugging. They waited for him in the canteen for 1 full hour and when he didn't come Cabir called him.

Cabir: Manik tu kahan hai?
Manik: I'm at Alya's place. Kyun kya hua?

Cabir got angry and cut the call. He was waiting for him since past 1 hour and he was at Alya's place. What is he doing there? The thought struck his mind and he went for his last class that was with Tiksha.

Chapter-9 Wait for the mate.

Nandini woke up at night at around 8 and checked her phone for many unread messages:

Manik: Are you okay? I heard that you went home? Is everything okay? Should I come over to see you now?
Nandini: I am okay. Thanks.

Cabir: Abe phone to utha? Marrgyi kya?
Nandini: So rhi thi. I am fine now.

Tiksha: Are you fine? Why didn't you reply Cabir? We both are going out for some work, will return by midnight. Take care.
Nandini: Okay thanks bye

Alya: Hey sweetie! Let's hangout?
Nandini: Tomorrow please?

Mansi (Cousin): Hey mottu kaisi hai? I miss you wapas kab ayegi?
Nandini: I am better than ever. I miss you too and never.

She got up and ordered pizzas for herself as she was in no mood to do anything.
Nandini why are you behaving so awkwardly? Please stop it Nandini! He was just talking to Alya nothing else! And why are you bothering so much? We are not even committed. Committed? Aiyappa what am I thinking? She was talking to herself when she heard the bell ringing continuously. She opened the door and found her pizza. Yayie! She gulped the whole pizza in not more than 5-7 minutes and sat in the couch playing some songs in her mobile and replying to the texts again and again.

Manik: Hey listen I won't be coming home tonight. Actually, I'm stuck somewhere. See you in the morning! Good night.
Nandini: Okay take care.

Cabir: Are you sure? Ham thodi der mein ate hain okay?
Nandini: Ya ya take your time! :p

Tiksha: Khana khale kamini hame time lagega.
Nandini: Aisa kya kar rhe ho dono? xD Btw kha liye mamma.

Alya: Ya sure tomorrow at my place. Actually today even I am busy with someone ;)
Nandini: Haha sure and enjoy!

Mansi: Kirti ki shadi pe bhi nai?
Nandini: Only if I get a special invitation.

She watched TV, roamed around the house, went on the terrace and at last thought of sleeping. Once in her bed she opened her Instagram and went through the comments of her and Manik's recent selfie:

"You both look so cute!..."
"Haye! Nandu he is so cute! Woman you are so lucky!!..."
"Cute couple you are. Stay blessed both of you..."
"Yaar how do you both manage to look so mesmerizing every time?..."
"This guy's too lucky Nandu..."

She smiled reading these lovely replies and checked Manik's profile for any new picture and again her mood got spoiled. Manik posted a selfie with Alya 10 minutes ago. Ughh Nandini selfie hi to hai! Kya badi baat hogyi isme? -_-

She read his caption to feel sadder: Having a great time with this cutie! Why didn't I meet her earlier?

And the comments added fuel to the fire:

"Aww so sweet..."
"Best couple! Made for each other..."
"I am jealous, you're so perfect..."
"So cute! God bless you both..."

She slept crashing her face into the pillow hoping to forget these eerie feelings by the morning.

On the other hand, Cabir and Tiksha were in the administration office searching for Alya's details in the late hours of the night. They've already spent hours in that room after college but still they didn't have any clue of that Alya. They were literally banging their heads on the walls as they weren't able to find even a single file that would tell them something about Alya. They have already created a big mess and if they would stay here even for a moment then they'd surely get caught.

Cabir was about to leave when Tiksha pointed out at a drawer which they haven't checked yet so she walked towards it and stopped when they heard someone's voice. They were startled by the sudden appearance of the official and hid behind the doors and ran out as soon as the person entered the office.

"It was fun!" Tiksha exclaimed and they both started laughing.

"But we still didn't find anything." Cabir said in a disappointed yet tired tone.

"Yeah but we will find something soon. Now let's go home." Tiksha replied and they both headed for their house.

Manik wasn't really interested in Alya in that way but was bonding up with her really well because of the matching hobbies and a sweet behavior. He went to drop her in the afternoon but she insisted him to stay for some time at her place. They both chatted for a while and then Alya disclosed him that she was the part of the same school as his and was in the girls' basketball team. After hearing the word basketball, Manik got more interested in knowing her but just as a friend. They both talked more about basketball and school life and when Manik realized that it was pretty late and it was time for him to go home. Alya wanted him to stay for more time so she started getting excuses and at last after seeing that the weather is really bad he stayed there at the night.

Cabir and Tiksha reached home at around 1 am and opened the door with their own set of keys. They thought that maybe Manik and Nandini would be waiting for them but they found Nandini sleeping awkwardly with phone in her hand and Manik nowhere. Cabir called Manik but he didn't pick up as he was sleeping. He got really angry and packed his entire luggage and kept it in the living room.

"Tiksha jab wo wapas aye to use kehdena ki mai ye sab bakwas harkatein tolerate nai kar sakta apne ghar mein and he can move to some dorm or whatever." Cabir said and went inside his room. He was really very disturbed due to many reasons. First, the changing moods of Nandini and then after that Harshad thing he got more tensed. After that the awkward behavior of Alya made him more suspicious and at last the ignoring Manik irked him. He just wanted to sleep.

Tiksha went inside Nandini's room and got her phone for her firm hold and found tears droplets at Manik and Alya's selfie. She immediately sensed the situation and started caressing her hair.
God! She is such a sweet soul! She has always helped me no matter what. Please don't snatch away her happiness even before it reaches her. She also slept by her side wishing for this gauche night to end.

------

Manik was getting restless in that girly guest room of Alya's house. He even forgot to inform his friends about his whereabouts. And what about them? They didn't even think of calling me to ask where I am? Aren't they worried? Huh! He had agreed unwillingly to stay there but he just wanted the night to end so that he could meet his sunshine in the morning.
