when i was in undergrad, like 5 yrs back, we used to do panel discussion on sexuality and the ruling down of the law that criminalizes homosexuality, it was part of spreading awareness , but there were interest from young crowd but not overwhelming participation from say crowd of 18-25 yrs, ppl from different parts of india came to some of the big events, the real life stories or rather i shd call them horror stories was a harsh reality check to me personally, i dont think the youth is that aware of the hardships ppl with diff sexuality face unless they know of someone close, indian culture still is all hush hush about what sexuality even means, if any word contains "sex" its banned from any discussion, lack of awareness

Ask me Doc. People make jokes...which is enough to show how much they think it is normal and how well they treat it in real.

When a first year student who is eligible to choose his own government says "LGBT makes no sense to him, coz it is not normal." you know where enlightenment and stuff is going.

Prejudices are hard to get by...people and educated ones at that, still think of homosexuality as a disease, they view it like they view STDs...Maybe the urban youth mindset is slowly changing but in a country like India, it's difficult.
And even then, how many of the people actually practise what they preach? How many actually have gays/lesbians as their friends and are cool with it and don't make fun of them in their respective social circles?
It's a very sad truth.
