Chapter 12

Maithili got up to an excruciating migraine…she couldn't understand what happened but she saw Shruti and Prem surround her. She slowly remembered events of last night where she danced and how adi picked her up but before she could remember any further Shruti unsettled her trail of thoughts.
S: I can't believe this happened!!!
Maithili looked shocked…no no …mamma found out…!!!
M: mamma…I can explain…
S: non-sense!! How can this happen??? In our own party!!!
Maithili looked shocked and disgusted at herself…
M: I'm sorry mamma…she said meekly
P: no beta…!!! Don't you ever blame yourself! Its not your fault!
M: it was all adi…
P: of course! Thank god for adi!!
M: …what???
S: if it wasn't for adi…I don't know what would have happened to you!
M: but…
P: maithili beta…we know someone mixed alcohol in your drink…and if adi didn't take you up to your room then anyone could have taken advantage of your state…
Maithili disconnected herself from the conversation as soon as prem said this…
No no…mom dad don't know the truth…what do they know..?? what did adi tell them??
Maithili resumed into the conversation and jumped off her bed, she ran out of the room.
S: Where is she going??
P: to adi…

Maithili raced across the street to Mehra mansion where she met Shikhar and Mauri at the breakfast table…
Shikhar: maithili beta!!
Mayuri: tum yaha beta..?? iss waqt??
Mai: I have to meet adi - maithili said as she sprinted up the stairs…
Shikhar laughed…" there will be an argument up there!"
Maithili shouted from upstairs… "I have to thank him!!" shikhar choked on his breakfast and coughed.

Maithili barged into adi's room without knocking the door, she plunged into him tightly hugging him without realizing he was shirtless…
It was a short hug and as soon as she faced him her eyes widened…she let out a squeal and turned around… Adi was too shocked to react to anything…maithili just came into his room randomly and hugged him and now she screamed..???
Maithili: wear your shirt!!!
"..oh..!!..??" adi quickly put on his shirt
"umm…you can look now…" he said slightly embarassed
Maithili turned round beaming at him…"thank you sooooooo much…" she hugged him again…
"thanks for not telling mom-dad about last night…and thanks for taking me up to my room last night…and…
Adi was not listening to her, her being in his arms felt so..different…it felt blissful.
Maithili too stopped, being in adi's arms strangely felt comfortable, she smiled strangely and gripped him tighter.

Both of them, at the same time realized what they were doing and jolted back to the reality of their parallel worlds.
M: i..um..
A: I um…
Both said at the same time…both burst out laughing. This was the first time something like this happened…usually they would laugh at each other but no they didn't know what they were laughing at…
Both sat on adi's bed…
M: so..why?? why didn't you tell mom-dad??
A: …i…don't know…he resigned
M:…oh…well…lets keep it that way
There was a long silence between them…a long awkward silence…
M: well…um…I've got to go…maithili slowly got up
A: hey…!!! Um…do you remember what happened last night..??/the WHOLE storey…
Maihtili looked back at him…she couldn't remember…!!!
Maithili looked like a deer caught in headlights…
M:…i…most certainly..do..???
Adi laughed… "you…you said you loved me…"
Maithili's eyes bulged out… "wh..what???"
A: then you said Hritick Roshan…
Maithili let out a sigh and laughed nervously
M: i..i'm sorry…really really really..sorry…I..
A: sorry…you know…you said I looked damn hot!

Her face drained of colour
"i..i didn't ..s..say that!!! you liar!!!!"
Adi just smiled cockily and decided to tease maithili
"you know…you said I was irresistible!"
maithili looked even more bewildered
"your…your just a liar!!! I don't believe a word you are saying!!"
Maithili turned round to go, but stopped…
"acctually…I remember something!!" She turned round an dstarted going closer to adi…
"I remember 'the slap'!!!!!" she laughed a little.

It was now adi's turn to look panic stricken.
"WHATEVER!!!! Just because you're a girl don't think I'll let you off!! I'll make sure you pay!!..i might even tell Prem chachu the truth!!!" Adi roared in self-defence
"just when I thought you were no longer a jerk!!!" maithili replied cooly
"too right!" adi replied…
"so you admit…you admit that you're a jerk!!" she snapped back
"NO!!! arrgh!!! Your just messing with my head!!!"
"ha…I always knew thinking too much would hurt your peanut sized brain!!!"

"you just wait maithili…just wait!!!" Adi started running after maithili and she ran out of the room, she went downstairs and stood behind mayuri.
"mom…mom move aside…today Maithili is going to die!!"
"adi..adi..beta…" mayuri tried to stop him- but to no avail
Maithili spoke from behind… "na na nanana you can't catch me…the greate VIKRAM-ADITYA MEHRA can't even touch me!!" she mocked at him
mayuri was now baffled by the mock in maithili's voice an dthe fiery rage in Adi's eyes…
"now now…don't..don't ruin the house will you…and don't brake any vases!!" she shouted as Maithili made a run for it and adi raced behind her.

Maithili charged throught the hall and bumped into Bharat, she stood behind him, then pushed him into adi's arms…
Bharat stood behind as Adi pushed him away.. "traitors!! the lot of you!!!" he complained
Adi pulled maithili's clip off so her hair was loose.. she was laughing as she ran, she suddenly slipped and adi fell on top of her.

Both were in an uncomfortable position and scowled at each other. Adi pressed his weight down on Maithili, he moved his face dangerously close to hers----
His lips brushed past her ears making her scrunch her eyes.
She slowly opened her eyes to find him staring at her. He moved closer and closer to her face. His lips hovered over hers and he suddenly turned his face, his lips pressed against her ear as if he was kissing her

but what happened next, staggered the sense out of maithili, It caught her completely off guard…
Adi thundered an ear-splitting scream in her ear…and within moments everyone gathered round them…adi took in a deep breath and screamed in her ear once more…by now maithili screamed too.

The house was like an in-house zoo.
Mayuri and Shruti stood scandelised by their children's behaviour and Prem and Shirhkar stood amused…
Bharat and tannu were enjoying the little performance going on and they started cheering..
T: GO ADI…GO ADI…
B: GO MAITHILI DI…
The screaming stopped all so suddenly. Adi looked at maithili and laughed, he got up and off her.
"ha ha…!!!! Beat that!!!!!!"
Maithili stood holding her ear and wincing in pain…
"oh its not over VIKRAM_ADITYA MEHRA…YOU and ME and soooo not over!!!!!!" she hissed spitefully
