Chapter 18

All six decided to go home that very day, so they left a message to their teacher and left in a tour bus for Mumbai. Pranay and mallishka sat together, bharat and tannu sat together leaving adi and mets sitting together.
Pranay and mallishka romanced all the way to Mumbai while adi and mets sulked…

"I can't believe they both love each other!!"
"yeah!! I mean what does pranay see in mallishka di!!??"
"I mean, how can they be so selfish!!!"

Bharat and tannu cracked up seeing adi and mets sulk and complain.
B: look I think you two should just be quiet and get married!
Adi whacked bharat: don't ever say that again!!!
T: I mean you two are so alike each other!!
M: shut up!!! I mean I don't even know what this guy likes and what not!!

Just then adi opened a juice drink…
M: adi..you won't like that…its cranberry
Adi was taken aback…it was true..he hated cranberry but how did she know…:umm..yeah I like cranberry!!
Maithili raised her eyebrow and adi gulped the drink…he forced it down his throat just to prove he liked it but threw the drink out the window immediatly after…mets laughed and shook her head.

B: see!!! Mets you do know what adi likes and doesn't like!!!
Maithili was profound: no I don't!!
Adi cocked his eyebrow and grinned…Maithili frowned and immersed in the newspaper she was reading.
A: mets…I don't know why you're pretending to read the paper…its not what you do everyday!!
Maithili sat up… "how do you know what I do and not do everyday!?!?!" it was adi's turn to be taken aback now.

The six of them reached Mumbai by night and gathered their parents together
P: mom…dad…prem chachu, shruti chachi…I …I have to tell you something.
Me…me and mallishka…love each other and we want to get married.
All four parents choked on their dinner and sat up straight…
"what!!"
P: look mom…I know we behaved like we hated each other but really, I really like mallishka. Mallishka nodded and smiled…
"dad…I like pranay too"
there were smiles all round
s: well!! What are we waiting for…lets get you two married!!

Everyone went upstairs to bed except adi and mets.
Adi and maithili were pacing their rooms…
Both wanted to call each other and talk things out but their egos got in the way
"should I call him?? I don't want him to think I'm after him…oohh…why do such things happen to only me!!!"
"should I call her??? I'd hate her to think I liked her and I was after her…arrgh!!"
both picked up the phones at the same time and dialled the number…
"engage!!! Huh!! Useless fellow!!! Din raat girlfriend's say baat karta hai!! Huh!!"
"engaged!! God!! Din raat gossip karti rehti hai!! Huh!"

both were troubled and opened the window's to their balcony at the same time. Both saw each other and looked even more worried. Adi finally called maithili to put and end to his restlessness.
A: maithili…look today what happened was very strange..i mean I thought mom dad would start off about the deal once pranay and mallishka said they wanted to get married but…
M ;but they completely forgot!!
Maithili completed his sentence for him…
M; and frankly…I'm very happy they did!…wait wait!! Mom's coming…maithili put the phone aside and did not end the conversation.

M: mom…aap yaha…
S: yes beta..i wanted to talk to you about the deal..
Maithili gulped…what deal mamma?
Shruti folded her hands but matihitli got up before shruti could say anything and began to shepherd her away to the door…
M: umm mama…can we talk about this tomorrow…whan me and adi both can discuss stuff…and I'm really tired…yawn..i'm sleepy…goodnight!!!
Maithili closed the door and sighed…

M: adi..heard that!! they do remember!!
A: ok..hmm… lets talk about this tomorrow…like you said…goodnight!!
Adi put the phone down and lay back on his bed….
Only god knows how tomorrow will start!!!


The next day

Adi and maithili get up and like always, maithili would have her shower, she would rub her wet hair in her hands and open the balcony window…Adi would open his at the same time..both would scowl at each other, but today neither adi nor maithili scowled at each other. Instead they gave each other thumb's up and continued dressing up

Once both had their breakfast…extra-slowly to pass away the time…shruti and maithili went to the mehra mansion.

S: right!!! So you know why you two are here!
Adi and maithili nodded
May: so! What have you decided??!!
A: did you give us a choice!!!
S: no! but still it feels nice to hear it from your mouth
Maithili sighed and opened her mouth, adi closed his eyes…
M: look mom…you can't force us to marry!!
Adi opened his eyes and looked at maithili…he smiled…: yes of course you can't!!!
A: I mean do you want us to be happy or not!!
S: we want you to be happy that's why…
M: no mom! See, I can't marry adi like in a month's time…I mean still..i …I can't explain it!
A: mom! Please…we can't marry at the same time as pranay and mall!! Give us some more time ad we'll…we'll look into the matter!
Mayuri raised her eyebrow…: adi beta..i know exactly what you mean when you say 'look in to the matter' because you'll never end up doing it!!
Adi frowns but maithili speaks up: aunty..please…give us some more time and I promise, I'll think about it! Please!!!!

Shruti and mayuri went to a corner…
S: we should give them the 'time'
Mayuri smiled…: but we should create situations in which they are compelled to fall in love
S: and I know just the people who can help us…
M: bharat and tannu!!
