Please simply admit you are running a mindless corporation here like any other industry and stop trying to play mahaan. I could have some respect for these types then.

I don’t get why this delusion keeps getting justified 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

But why would you insult the taste of your cash cow? Especially when you are still trying to establish a bigger audience for your new show.

And secondly as they say, de gustibus non est disputandum. In matters of taste there can be no dispute. What you and I think is completely ridiculous other people might find it fun and magical even if the logic is a bit wonky. Sasural Simar ka was a successful show much to my chagrin.

In terms of the characters in this show.. I think it also worked for me that Sonakshi has only had a 7th grade education and started working in this Industry at the age of 12. It probably does affect how she sees things. There is a certain amount of cognitive dissonance that probably develops. Especially when you have fans come up to you and tell you how much they love your work etc. I don't think Rohit necessarily bought into it as much as he was probably just enamoured with her passion.

Sonakshi is simply a prop. Many better educated actors in the TV industry mouth the exact same logic she gave in this scene. So her lack of education doesn’t cover up for the fact that the TV industry peddles this false narrative to justify themselves. It’s not dependent on education. They are all hypocrites of the highest order.

Lol so if a “cash cow” is not to be “insulted”, why are any of us discussing anything here? What is the purpose of anything at all if the “cash cows” have the first and last say? Let’s just give up and accept that the world is only run by these so called “cash cows” and the rest of us mean nothing. Nice 🤷‍♀️

Cognitive dissonance is the word. Many actors who make their livelihood with certain professions don't want to acknowledge the pits of their job. Instead they try to justify it with various analogies no matter how bizzare they are because it's true in their understanding & necessary for their survival

I have seen real life examples of actors giving absurd statements & comparing their characters in new shows with famous & established ones. Of course they are trolled for it. There are some who would bicker in privacy but never acknowledge in public because of obvious reasons. Not many people want to admit that their work is shit. Only a few have the guts to stick to their principle of good character & good story & admit that their character or show doesn't make sense & I wish to play a different kind of character & not this typical one. Many just get swayed in this for financial reason & then justify the crap they themselves might not be able to stand.

Many are surviving in their life only with this hypocrisy. That's why many actors have moved away from TV industry & went to hosting, web series or switched to other professions.

Karan Wahi, Karan Tacker, Ronit Roy, Rithvik Dhanjani, Ashish Sharma Barun Sobti are few of those who stuck to experimenting. Barun tried comeback but failed. Others are doing good in hosting after doing few shows only.

Oh i was waiting for this thread. Absolute mindnumbing crap esp that bachpan ki yaad bit. Uhmmm sorry if it is about bachpan ki yaad we'd rather watch stuff from our bachpan both desi and videsi which actually had some meaning and some thought not like today wth was that we are actually promoting our folklores and blah blah like plz wake up and smell the coffeee.

It is not like we haven't seen fantasy done right before in desi shows so do not give such bhonde explanations.

I mean my bachpan ki yaad in regards to fantasy is Ainak wala hin ( a pakistani show where kokaf ki pari landed on earth along with an array of jins and jaadugars and etc) and boy that show still is far more sensible than the crap they show or sonpari or shaktiman even with the technical limitations they had a clear goal and they were not being so drunk while making or defending them i'd rather enjoy that bachpan ki yaadein

@red: Lol well we can insult them ... or question it etc. But what I mean is why would the makers go out of their way to suggest that people who watch their illogical content and generally make up a large chunk of the viewing audience are watching stuff mindlessly. There are millions of people who enjoy watching this type of content so they must watch it for some reason.

@blue... not sure about the more educated ones. I have seen a fair number of TV professionals question that kind of stuff too. Last year I watched Yeh Pyar Nahi toh kya hain on Sony and someone from the industry revealed some of the thought processes of the makers and the fact that they were trying to avoid the traditional Indian tropes etc. That's why I feel the makers have their hands tied a lot more than we realize.

I honestly prefer mythological shows like RK over these brainless attempts to sell Naagin Devars. Atleast those shows have some level of spiritual and emotional anchor rather than just mindless melodrama.

Main kya bataaun yaar. Itna faltu scene tha, put me off completely. Only scene I liked was the Pulkit Sona scene. Baaki sab OTT bakwaas. And coming up seems more cliched bakwaas too. This show is deteriorating fast.

Isse achha main old NBT epis phir se dekh loon. They still have the heart and feel.

Ek toh current shows are way shittier, on top of that people are justifying them by saying people are watching toh sab badhiya hai 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ It’s depressing to say the least.

I feel like singing “yeh duniya Yeh mehfil mere kaam ki nahin” 🤣

There was an ITA interview with many actors discussing the exact same thing & highlighting those flaws along with suggestions that can be of help.

But idhar sunta kn hai. Sb lage hn supernatural banane mein aj kal.

I think change will happen but it will probably happen slowly. But you know I feel like a lot of television industries operate similarly. Recently I was following Turkish shows.. and tons of these older women were complaining about the repetitive nature of American shows and that's why they switched to the Turkish ones because they showcase the emotions more etc. But now after watching a bunch of recent Turkish shows I feel like they are going in a similar way to Indian TV shows. Most of the shows centre around a bechari female lead or they go overboard on showing manpain. Anything slightly outside of the box is usually rejected by the audience as well.

It is hard to find good content nowadays. Even web content circles around the same issues. Most of them stick with similar genres.

Yup the pulkit sona was my absolute fav scene too yesterday. I could've enjoyed the rest bit more had she not pakaooed me enough and if that was not enough rohit's staring sessions while she was drying her hair just 🙄🙄

Very well said, Anu! 👏

IMO, that justification about scripts being "Magical" was NOT at reqd by Sona..
