The scene starts w/ Brij asking Jyoti whether she is prepared to tell her family everything about Brij, Sushma and the Jyoti & Brij's past relationship. Jyoti tells him that the worst day in her life was when she met him. Brij asks her to think of something new while he washes his hands. He goes in and Jyoti is about to turn away when Brij comes out and wipes his hands on her sari đ¤˘đ¤˘ Jyoti blasts him for being shameless, and Brij asks him what's shameful about this, and to talk to him w/ respect, since he saved her hubby. She should be looking up to him instead of glaring at him. Jyoti demands to know whether he'll leave or not? Brij says that Pankaj has told him that he can be there as long as he likes, and she's demanding that he leave? Jyoti is exasperated to hear that, knowing that her order directly contravenes Pankaj's. Brij then takes her sari again and rests his face on it, and Jyoti snatches it back and leaves the room.
Brij joins her and Pankaj in the living room. Pankaj asks him whether he liked it here? Brij tells him that he's got a new life. He tells Pankaj that his wife was right, and that he'd always remember this day. He tells Pankaj that he's really enjoyed the evening, but wonders whether Jyoti did so too? (Even though Brij is a loathesome character, I'm somewhat impressed by how he rubs it in) Pankaj asks Jyoti whether she was happy to meet him point blank, and she says 'ji'. Brij asks whether that 'ji' meant 'yes' or 'no', đđđ and Jyoti, glaring at him, says (very unconvincingly) that she was happy. Brij is excited, and tells Pankaj that in that case, they wouldn't mind if he dropped in anytime he felt like it. Brij tells Pankaj that his family isn't here, so whenever he misses them, he'd drop by. Jyoti looks at him horrified. Pankaj tells Brij he's always welcome đ˛đ˛đ˛ and Brij happily accepts.
Brij is about to take his leave, but Pankaj remembers and asks Jyoti to bring the gift she had bought for him. Jyoti looks at Brij in horror, but has no choice but to go and get it. While Jyoti is gone, Brij asks Pankaj whether she's always like this? Pankaj says no, but that she was probably in a bad mood. Brij decides to create for himself a pretext on which to return, removes his wallet and drops it on the floor. Then Jyoti arrives and gives him the watch, and Brij notes how similar it is to one that his ex girlfriend gave him. Seeing it, Jyoti gets the flashback of when she had presented Brij w/ that watch. Brij thanks them and accepts the new watch, and wears it and then leaves.
Brij is then on the street at a crossing, and is trying to hail an auto. Deepu and the 3 cops are looking for him, and just then, Brij yells at an auto that has ignored and passed him. Hearing him, they turn to him and Deepu ID's him from a distance.
Pankaj and Jyoti are walking back into the room, when Jyoti accidentally kicks a wallet and tells Pankaj about it. Pankaj tells her that it must be Brij's, and that they'd go and return it. Jyoti tells him that he'd come for it himself, and Pankaj angrily asks her what's wrong w/ her that she's behaving so strangely? That person saved his life, and she was the one who wanted to meet him, and yet, when he visited, she didn't even talk to him properly? Besides, what would he do if he didn't have cash other than what was in the wallet? Jyoti apologizes, saying that she hadn't considered that POV. Jyoti tells him that she had a headache throughout the evening, and that they'll return his wallet. They both leave.
In the meantime, the cops approach Brij, but as Deepu too approaches, he sees Jyoti & Pankaj at a distance. Seeing them, he conceals himself. The cops arrest Brij, who is protesting, and they tell him that he's been abusing his wife, and so they are there to take him to jail. Just then, Pankaj & Jyoti arrive, and Brij tells Pankaj that he's being arrested. Pankaj asks why, and one of the officers tell him that he has been abusing his wife. Pankaj tells them that Brij ain't married, and is not even from this place, and the officer responds that Brij's wife herself filed a complaint. (This is why instead of Jyoti, Deepu should have done this). Brij is now worried while it's Jyoti's turn to smirk.
Pankaj continues that it can not be, and the officer tells him that Jyoti herself had gone there to help file the complaint. Pankaj thinks that's a misunderstanding, and the officer asks Pankaj to confirm w/ Jyoti. Pankaj asks Jyoti whether she had gone to file a complaint against Brij. Jyoti is dumbfounded, and Brij is scared now - what if she says yes? Then it'll be curtains for him. However, on Pankaj asking again after a long pause, Jyoti chickens out and says no, he's not the husband of the woman in question (why did she need to? She could have told Pankaj that she had filed the complaint, but didn't know how Brij looked. That way, he could still have been arrested). Brij is relieved to hear that but Jyoti is disgusted w/ herself. Brij asks the cops why would she register any complaint against him when he had never met her, and the cops apologize to him and go away. Brij thanks Pankaj for being there just in time, and asks him why they're there, and Pankaj returns him his wallet. Brij notes to himself that today, he was saved by the wallet. He then thanks them and turns away. He then turns back and asks Jyoti who the girl was whose hubby was so abusive that she had to go to the cops? Was it a close friend of hers? Pankaj responds for Jyoti, and tells Brij that Jyoti crusades for complete strangers no matter how unrelated to her they may be - she cannot see anybody sad. He tells her that for years, she worked at an orphanage (does that mean Jyoti no longer works there? When did she quit? Doesn't she still support her folks? When CM sent that charity cash to KK, she noted how Jyoti & Pankaj were supporting her.) Brij is impressed and finally says bye. Deepu, who's been watching all this, is dismayed to see him released.
At the Sharma's place, they are all wondering what's going on, and Sushma is worried that Deepu might do something rash that would make the Vashists aware of Brij & Sushma. Padma tells her that Deepu has good judgement. Deepu returns and tells them that while Brij was being arrested, for some reason, Jyoti and Pankaj arrived at that scene, and for some reason, Jyoti must have felt compelled to deny knowing Brij that enabled Brij to walk. KK is dismayed, and notes that from now on, it's a free for all for Brij. From now on, he'd be at liberty to trouble Jyoti.
Sushma disagrees, and says that since she was the reason that Brij could trouble everybody, she'd not let him do that anymore. Today, she'd end the cause of all the troubles. Then she gets dramatic, heads to the kitchen and grabs a kitchen knife, and tries to head out, saying that she'd either kill him or kill herself, but Dadi, Padma & Deepu stop her and Padma slaps her. She then hugs Sushma, who begins crying.
Back at the Vashisths, Jyoti is discussing the evening's events w/ Sudha. Sudha wonders how can anybody be as evil and shameless as Brij is? He doesn't have the slightest fear after all that he did? (Maybe Sudha could learn from him? đđđ) If only they had any idea of what he was like.
Jyoti says that she didn't, and that she was the reason that he's as close to them today as he is. Had she not allowed him to get close to her previously, Sushma would not be in the predicament she was in today. She holds herself responsible for the entire predicament that they're all in today. Had she never allowed him to get close to her, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to prey on Sushma the way he does. She hates herself for it.
Sudha tries to tell her that it's not her fault, b'cos people tend to see others in the same image that they themselves are, and since Jyoti happened to be pure minded, she didn't see the evil that was there in someone like Brij. Jyoti tells Sudha that such people like Jyoti herself are seen as pushovers and dimbulbs. This ain't something praiseworthy. She notes that w/o hurting others, those who try to behave responsibly have to confront all sorts of tribulations. And a monster like Brij is free to openly play his dirty games. Nothing can stop people like him. Sudha says that they have to do something before he makes it a living hell. Jyoti asks what - other than to tell Pankaj everything? Sudha begs her not to (Why? Rotten advice, again, although at this point in time, Sudha may be right in that the point is moot, and all it will do is threaten Jyoti's marriage). They'd think of something, but she couldn't allow Jyoti to endanger her marriage (too late for that at this stage of the game). The 2 of them hug, and the scene ends there.
It's the next meeting b/w Pankaj, Brij & Jyoti, and Pankaj, in response to a question, says that he can't imagine Jyoti ever deceiving him. Jyoti looks sad looking at him. Pankaj then excuses himself and leaves, and Brij chuckles, and congratulates Jyoti on pulling such a fast one on the blind one. Jyoti then turns away to leave, and Brij tries to grab her. Jyoti grabs a glass of water and throws it on Brij, wetting him, and breaking free. Brij glares at Jyoti in anger.
Today, Jyoti finally got a taste of what not following her own instincts to be upfront about Brij resulted in. Had she told Pankaj that she did complain about Brij, and that he was the hubby of that girl who ran into them the other day, Brij would have been arrested, although Jyoti would probably have had to spend the entire night spilling out her life history.
And while I disagree w/ Sudha, at this point, I think it's moot whether Jyoti tells Pankaj about Brij or not. Previously, had she told him everything, she wouldn't be shitting bricks today, but at this point, if she tells him, he'll conclude that she's telling him b'cos if she doesn't, Brij will.
