Chapter 9 Fighting death
Jalal just sat there on the floor as he saw the bandhis carry Jodha away to her hozra. He couldn’t believe what he just heard. Why hadn’t he listened to his heart. He got up opened his shera and threw it away and ran to Jodha’s room. He came and stood in front of the doorway too scared to enter. What if.... No allah wouldn’t be so cruel He ran inside there she lay lifeless on her bed her face and body had turned blue with the poison. He sat down next to her and took her cold hand into his. “ Yeh kya kiya aapne Jodha begum. Kiyun kiya. Moti came to him. “ Woh kaise kehti Sahenshah usse to khud hi pata nahi chala kab woh aapse pagalon ki tarha prem karne lagi. Khud is baat ko jaanti tab na woh aap ko kehti. Jabe uses Sujamal bhaisa ka khat mila aur pata chala ke aap ke pran sankat mein hai , woh taabse jag rahi hai. Is baat ko saat din ho chukna hai.” She said. Jalal couldn’t believe his ears. “ Saat din se Jaag rahi hai aur yeh baat tum humein aab bata rahi ho.” He asked angry. “Hum kya karte Sahanshah usdne mana kiya. Na thik se khati thi na kuch karti thi din bhar aapne kanha ke samne baithe rehti. Aur jis din aapne kaha ke aap uske ankhe bandh hone par bhi uske taraf murkar nahi dekhenge us din mano jaise usne apne pran hi tyag diye. Tut gayi thi woh.” Jalal closed his eyes in pain tears rolled down his eyes “ what had he done ?” he thought. “ Phir Sujamal bhaisa ka ek aur patra aya usmein likha tha ki Benazir aap ko apne vivah se pehle hi Maregi tab usne pran liya ke agar woh marbhi jaye tab bhi woh aap ko bachaegi. Sari raat woh aapke kamra ke bahar baithe pehra deri rahi. Bhut prem karti hai woh aapse Sahenshah.”Jalal stared at her with wonder ,how cold some love a person so much.He sat and caressed her hair “Itni mohabbat... kaise karti hai aap humse.hum aap ko taklif dete rahe aur aap humpar jaan lunatic rahi. Hum kaise jiyenge aapke bagair. Laut aaiye nahi to humein bhi apne saat lete jaiye.” He said he kissed her hand. “ Hakim sahiba kuch kijiye.” He said. Hum ne zeher ko maarne ki dawa diya hai Sahanshah, ab to aap bas dua kijiye yeh raat kar jaye .” she said “Dekh liya Jalal apne ghusse ka natija. Ayesa kya ho gaya ke aap ne Jodha ki yun beizzati ki.”
Mahamanga was now feeling scared as she saw her plan fail. She also felt very foolish that she had trusted the wrong person. “ Sahenshah, Jodha ne humare saamne patea likha tha usne aapko sirf dhanyawad kehna ke liye patra likha tha.” She said. Jalal looked at moto in shock. He got up and said “ Salima begum aap zara Aaiye humare saath.” He left the room.
Mahamanga looked at him scared.” J Jalal hum bhi...” before she could compete Jalal picked up his hand and stopped her. He left without looking at her. In his room he opened a chest and took out the letter that jodha had written. Then he told Salima to read it.

He nodded to her and ran back to Jodha’s hozra. “ Aab kaisi halat hai inki" he asked. “ hum se jo ban Prada humne kiya Sahenshah hum ne zeher ko aag ki grim se nikkal bahar kiya hai , aab bas inke hosh mein ane ki der hai." He went and sat next to her. Then he got up and went to Jodha’s kanha’s temple sat down liy the lamp their and said “ humne suna hai Jodha tumhari ladli hai, tum uski her baat mante ho ,aaj humari ek baar maan lo mere jodha ko Lauta do main kasam khata hun kabhi bhi use nahi rulaunga use palkon pe bithaunga.”
He did pranaam.like he had learned from Jodha. He then went and sat next to Jodha. The whole day had passed now it was night. “ Aap log Jaiye hum yehan Jodha begam ke pass baithenge.” He said. Everyone turned to leave but Rukaiya hesitated. “ J...Jalal.” She said. “Humne kaha Takhlia.” Jalal said with anger. Rukaiya left. Jalal looked at Jodha with all the love he had in his heart. “uth jaiye na Jodha begum hum vada karte hai fir kabhi aapko tang nahi karenge. Hum nahi Ji sakte aap ke bina.” Saying so he kissed Jodha’s forehead.
Jodha’s POV
She could hear someone calling her she wanted to respond but she couldn’t. She felt someone’s lips on her forehead. She felt a loving caress on her fore head. It was arround midnight when she slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was Sahanshah holding her hand and looking at her with tears in his eyes. “ She woke up with a start then she tried to get up but Jalal stopped her. “ Sahanshah aap thik hai” Jodha said touching Jalal’s cheeks, Jalal leaned into her hand and closed his eyes. “ Aap fikr mat kijiye aap ke rehete hue humein kuch nahi ho sakta.”Jalal said. Jodha smiled she closed her eyes and thanked her kanha. Jalal took her hand from his cheeks and kissed it. “ Aap aiyse daraya mat kijiye humein. Agar aapko kuch hojata to.” Jalal said “ Aap ko kuch nahi hua na bas humare liye itna hi paryapt hai. “ Itni mohabbat karti hai aap humse.” Jalal asked Jodha blushed and looked away.Jalal smiled put his finger under her chin and turned her arround. “ To phir bataya kiyun nahi.” Jalal asked.” Humein pata hi nahi chala Sahenshah ke kab hum aap se prem karne lage. Jab aap Benazir ko apne paas ane de rahen the humein laga ke hum uska ankhe noch late, aap ne eise kaise use apne paas ane diya” saying she looked away angrily “ agar nahi ane deta to apni pyarisi begum ki jo yeh humare liye bepnaah mohabbat hai use kaise jaan pate.” Jalal said smiling naughtily. “ Aab Jaan liya na , phir kabir agar aapne eisa kiya to hum aap se baat nahi karenge. Jab aapne kaha ke aap mera chehera nahi dekhenge tab eisa laga ke hum mar jaye to hi...” Jalal put his hand on her mouth “ aaj kehdiya debate mat kehna.” Jodha felt parched. She sat up and asked for water. Jalal gave it to her. She drank it . Then looked at him with tears in her eyes. “ Hum aapse Atyant pyar karte hai. Jis din aapne humein chod diya us din humara is sansar mein antim din hoga.” Jalal pulled her close to him by her waist. And looked at her she looked at him. “ Aisa din kabhi nahi ayega.” They looked at each other. They were lost in each other. Jalal’s eyes shifted to her lips, pink soft like the petal of a rose slightly parted as her breathing became faster. He couldn’t resist anymore he captured them in his rough ones. She responded with the same furore she moaned softly, he pushed his tounge in to deepen the kiss. After a long time they broke apart breathing hard. Jalal touched his forehead to hers. “ Aab nahi hota humse intezaar aab hum aapko apna banana chahte hai. Humari ho Jaiye.” He said Jodha hid her face in his chest “ hum aaphi ke to hai.”
