Chapter 17 Part-1

"Woah! What is SHE doing here?"

"O o ooo..." a meek scream made its way out as she tripped back colliding his toes..

For a moment, he forgot the world drowning into the heavenly fragrance of flowers clubbed with the natural fragrance of her body.

"Shyea!"disgusted by her plight, she set her hands free letting the tray slip - the flowers scattered all over their torsos symbolizing blessings of the appeased gods.

..it was no less than a feast for him witnessing her a blaze transforming into amazement and then into perplex, from too close to be counted a distance.

"You never told me she's your niece uncle?" he asked in surprise. The newfound fact that she isn't a mere employee, but a member of his vicinity truly uplifted his spirits.

"Jodha's parents died in an accident eight months ago Jalal."😒

He gazed again at the portrait, this time concentrating on the smiling lady. That moment nothing appeared more divine to him than her smiling eyes hiding wells of tears behind them.

Chapter 17 Part-2

"By the way aunty, how is wedding preparation going on?"

"Who else? Jodha's aunty!! I heard that she's getting married next month to her cousin in the US!!" He smirked looking straight into Jodha's eyes.

"The cousin you are referring to is married two years ago and has a son too Jalal!! I think now you get it how true the news is!!"

"Oh no... no no... he can't call me!"

"... mujhko pehchanlo... main hoon Don.. tee tee ti titi.."

The song played loud as the chairman's hand sneaked out the black beast. "Don!!" the chairman couldn't help reading out the name flashing on the screen.🤣

"At least in your new job.." he paused as she waited,".. please try and keep your attitude low... else you may end up seeking anew one soon.. this is just a friendly advice.. okay??", he triumphantly smirked seeing the simmering blaze.😆

"You heard it right Jalal... Saradhi ji suspects a life threat to Jodha!!"😲

"An international project is the basis of Jalal's divorce??" she looked on unconvinced.

Admiration, empathy, ache moved the young lady so vehemently that her heart yearned to see Jalal once,then and there.

They were confident he'd rise like a phoenix, from rags to riches very soon.

Bearing such a huge responsibility on him, it's understandable for a young entrepreneur to scorn on an employee who'd have posed endanger to his dreams!!"

"...Reluctance?Wouldn't you be more than happy to welcome her back?" somewhere deep within his heart, a few veins voiced.

"If her hurt ego doesn't permit her to come back... and if my apology is going to do the needful I wouldn't mind uttering one tomorrow."

"If I can be an iota of help to resurrect your dreams Jalal..." she pledged, "I'm willfully ready to do that... even if I were to be looked down or teased upon!!" she determined.

"So, am I to infer that this offer has your approval?"

"A chairman's decision isn't counter questioned generally, not even by the MD!!"

"My foster parents want me to accept it and continue here," she slyly alleged taking the indirect approach. "... and I can't deny them!"

"When you had an alternative, why were you mad at me then?"

"Because that is how I generally react to an irresponsible associate," he casually shrugged readily welcoming the consequences of his statement.

"If you still believe I'm irresponsible... ", the slightest hint of smile on his lips, brought a 360 degree turn to her mood. "I don't think you would approve my coming back..." she plopped a charming smirk."... EVEN if it was a chairman's decision!"

and at that conviction he laughed, not an usual one - it was a genuine magnetic laugh, straight from heart, which she rarely witnessed. That moment, the virtual barriers of ego, pride and prejudice met their first blow...

Ok". "Just OK? No thank you? Was he never taught courtesy words like Sorry, Please, Thank you at school?"

"... but not courier charges "

"Outcome of your hitting spree..."

"But the door was fine and so were you!! "😆

"Pay with interest or don't pay at all..."

"I think... I can live with the second option... for now ". A scheme to repay his debt along with interest, in a much subtle way, started developing in her head.

"Lucky you to dine early... me @work". As her eyes discerned the message, her heart tugged in a delicate pain. 😔

"Power, fame and status are definitely enjoyable but they come at their own terms!!"

as the beat picked up she surrendered to the act, forgetting the world. Arms, toes, waist,head - every part of her moved in harmony with the changing rhythm. With clanks of metallic bangles, oscillation of hair as she swirled, swaying metal jhumkas and above all a soft smile on lips and a subtle expression in eyes, she appeared angelic to him.

"You're denying everyone as if you're a princess. What kind of guy will appeal to you madam?Will you ever find such one?"

A new proposal too tough to be refused!! A new indifference too sore to accept!! Unwanted handshakes and missing opportunities!!

Like it or not, she always followed the path her pious friend showed; such was the trust she held in HIM.

"I'll just say hi to the team and come back. It'd be an encouraging gesture...", he bluffed to his mocking intuition.

"It's not safe to linger around alone, go back to your friends once done with this ride, okay?"

"Arre budhu, why are you so tongue tied? You may never get this privacy again. Don't let the opportunity go, stop him", her inner voice yelled.

"Open your eyes Jodha", he softly commanded. Behind her closed lids a similar visual played - she's falling off a bridge into an endless valley, and someone rescued her by holding tight.

Adjacent to HER was HE -smiling straight into her eyes injecting warmth, trust and assurance. ❤️

"What if he doesn't get enough time for lunch?"

"For you," she extended the parcel stopping right before him, "a quick snack just in case you can't catch up for lunch", she smiled and he stood awestruck.

"walk-talk,thought-pout, innocence-arrogance, empathy-apathy - anything of her, everything of her is staunchly effecting me!!" he surmised.

"Isn't it a jeopardous phenomenon?" his pragmatic brain nagged, "Or rather not??" his heart supported.😉
