Durga had not shared with him anything about the farmaan. So he couldn't have known the exact location and thus told him. So how did he expect Khalil to find the farman? Wouldn't Khalil have questioned her anyway? And did he expect Khalil to tempt her with roses and chocolates?

Hence the 'guilt' na...

Of all his qualities, I never said he didn't have the ability to be blinded by the lure of power/ambition!😆 He was a vaddi kattina 'blinded' muttal here...
Possibly slaps himself everyday for it and rightfully so!

He undermined how daring Durga was. He truly thought she'd be terrified enough to give the Farmaan up to Khalil - at least to save the lives of those dear Parnagarhi-guards of hers.
But they all fought valiantly till the end!

Also, Khalil's actions against a noblewoman was unheard of re... hence the shockwaves all through till the capital, na? (Who would do that to a lady promised to be the wife of a prince of a powerful kingdom?) It is also the first 'solid' case that caused a rift between Shehzaade and his favourite general! So, Mahendar wouldn't have expected Khalil to go to this extent!

But, what would he do otherwise?
Once his personal spy from the capital would've informed him of the Shehzaade's 'rage' during that first Darbar scene & the developments thereafter, he'd have known - ta ta to Farmaan, ta ta to Parnagarh😭!
His only pathway to power and a seat in the capital courts taken away in one sweep.

So, he decided to meet the brute halfway.

Yes, he did expect to be cheated of the Farmaan though. If so, he would've slyly approached the Shehzaade (like he did now, without letting Durga know all he was up to) and spoken of his own contribution in the Farmaan kaand, thus gaining brownie points and possibly one step closer to getting a seat in court.

But the ENTIRE thing went topsy turvy when Durga proved to be braver than he'd ever imagined. That enraged Khalil and he lost control and we know what happened thereafter!

It's so many things happening so fast... impossible to write each angle out in detail in the chapters... I have these angles all outlined before I started the story.. but I can only drop hints about it or each chapter would never end!😆

Thank you for Sandy for being such a lovely person to chat away online to!🤗

And why the scruples now? Because nobody else offers such sparkling company? If the new Kunwarisa is intelligent and interesting enough, he wouldn't care any longer na?

Of course it'd make it easier to get over na... it's always the case - with new friends, we slowly get over the sadness of missing old ones... with new partner, we get over the grief of losing an older one... he never had the love of soulmates for her... it was a selfish sort of love... and he would've found it easier to get over her had new Kunwarisa been like her!
But anyway, it was more to show that Durga is not replaceable... so I think search as he might have, he couldn't have found anyone...

As for guilt, conveniently, he would've forgotten that over time... that is again quite a normal human trait too... not a nice one, but it is!

Why the blussshhh!😲

I've mentioned this earlier, right? That he's my most favourite and yet most understated character in MB. Which is why, I've named my first-born after him!😃

The entire Kurukshetra went about in an underhand way. Arjun driving all those arrows at Bhishma from behind a napunsak was the beginning. Killing of Abhimanyu, Drona, Karna and Duryodhan were by underhand means.

I know Bheeshma has been criticised for adamantly sticking to his pratigya😒... but I have a soft spot for him... dunno... maybe because it's the amazing way Mukesh Khanna portrayed him throughout MB... so, this killing of him - God I cried when I saw it on TV years ago!

The boy was killed mercilessly and inhumanly but what is inconceivable was the dance they did in ecstasy around his corpse in front of the 4 Pandavas looking on helplessly! And Karna was part of it too! There all his innate goodness took a back seat!

Did it happen? Inwhich version of the Mahabharat?😔

I know... paavam aa irukku to read this! Lana..this was so heartwrenching to read!😒

>>> I am not saying Mahendar is better than Karna... but, I am surprised by the extent of support Karna receives - while Mahendar, receives more hatred here than even Khalil. And when one would look at the sum deeds/actions of their lives - Mahendar is below Karna for sure... but not FAAAR below Karna's... if you know what I mean...

That is because Karna is what he is. He doesn't pretend to be otherwise. But Mahender pretended to be dhoodh ka dhula when he was a greedy hypocritic backstabber. If Durga had survived Khalil's attack and learnt of her mangetar's intentions that would have hurt her, harmed her and shattered her more than Khalil's act even.

But she'd be brave enough to break off the engagement... and remain single for the rest of her life! Worst is if she came to know AFTER she wedded him, which is what would've happened in all likelihood!

Basically, I hate traits of Mahendar too... but I hate Khalil and Farooq Sahib who are definitely darker characters far more!

FS and the swine are two peas in a pod. Underhand hypocrites. Khalil is out and out evil.

Yes... this I agree with... though in my mind's eye, I have envisioned Mahendar slightly (just very slightly) to be better than Farooq Sahib. Like Farooq Sahib would have no qualms having his enemies tortured... I would think Mahendar would at least spare the torture and give them a quick death... 🤔
Having said that, Shehzaade is definitely a better man than all of these... but he is also the most vindictive... so maybe difficult to grade them on an evil scale really!😕

Underrated? He is the most respected. His Vidur Neeti stands next to The Bhagwad Gita in the Mahabharata. His bow Govardhan was giftedby Lord Vishnu himsekf and one who wields it it rendered invincible. Even the Gandiva didn't stand a chance agsinst it. Krishna found it essential to keep him out of war, more than Bhishma, Drona or Karna...while all had their weaknesses, he didn't have any.( Bhishma -Pratigya, Drona-Ashwattama, Karna-curses). So he provoked Duryodhana to insult Vidur to such an extent that Vidur broke his Dhanush and promised not to fight. Such was his greatness as a warrior/wise man. Only Duryodhan was foolish enough to underrate him.

Understated, I said... 😳
But under-rated too - as in, he enjoys not 1/10th of the spotlight that larger-than-life characters like Bheeshma, Karna, Arjuna, Drona, Duryodhana etc do...
