Prologue

Three Great Emperors had toiled hard to build the vast and flourishing legacy of the 'Mughal Empire', keeping relative peace by unifying its Mughals and Hindus. However; by mid 1600s, cracks began to appear in its solid foundations. Insecurities crept in through the gaps, widening the gulfs between the two religions once again.

With the old Emperor becoming too feeble to take charge and his jealous successors remaining preoccupied with expansion and power, the damage was never repaired. Not surprising then that new rebellions arose every day. Violence escalated, claiming many innocent lives.

Yet; in the midst of such turmoil and peril, there bloomed a beautiful story - much like a lone flower blossoming upon the steepest edges of a cliff - a story of love, of sacrifice and honour!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Forced to flee from her motherland, the one home she knew... forced to leave behind her people, for whom, she was their only hope...forced to grievously abandon the last rites of her loved one while the flames on the pyre were still ablaze...the orphaned heiress of 16 overcame grief and many shortcomings, as she embarked on a long dangerous path... setting out to seek help and support, for her people and her lands...

Till a chance stay with a complete stranger would change the course of those very plans forever!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Being the most shrewd, determined and unforgiving of the lot meant he was formidable... a force to be reckoned with... it also meant he could have owned it all - riches, power, women and fame... but, he fancied none of it...

As a recluse with simple tastes, the rich life held no real appeal... power didn't tempt him... women didn't interest him... his passion was work and his only family were a few loyal friends... he had decided that he wanted little else in life...

Till a chance visit from a complete stranger would change that decision forever!

Some pointers on references in 41 (from various sources)

The binoculars
The telescope was introduced to astronomy in 1609 by the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei -the first man to see the craters on the moon.
Almost from the invention of the telescope in the 17th century the advantages of mounting two of them side by side for binocular vision seems to have been explored.
Hans Lippershey of Holland - an eyeglass maker - is also credited with the invention of telescopes and binoculars in early 16th century. He almost certainly wasn't the first to make one, but he was the first to make the new device widely known. When Hans Lippershey first applied for a patent on his telescope in 1608, he was actually asked to build a binocular version to avoid eyestrain from squinting one eye. He reportedly did so late that year.
On Dec. 15 1608, the binocular passed inspection and two more, with optics of quartz crystal, were ordered.
Most early binoculars used Galilean optics. The Galilean design has the advantage of presenting an erect image but has a narrow field of view and is not capable of very high magnification. This type of construction is still used in very cheap models and in opera glasses or theater glasses. These binocular models can magnify objects about three times the size. (Modern binoculars magnify objects about 7-8 times the size. ) Many of the instruments described in an early history of the binocular do not now exist.

The time-box or 'clock'
European mechanical clocks that were not powered by water slowly started appearing in 13th and 14th century. An unknown locksmith, probably from Nuremberg, invented something we call today "the main spring a coiled spring which he used to improve the functionality of his locks. Since many locksmiths at the time were also clockmakers, the spring soon found itself applied in clocks, as a device that could be wound to store energy, which could then be released over a long period of time.
This new invention made it possible to craft, for the first time in history, a clock so small it could actually be held in one's hand - the first portable timepieces. However, there was still no solution in sight to the problem of keeping the movement running at a constant rate as the spring ran down. This meant that for many more years to come, these spring-based clocks would still err by a few hours a day. The time-telling dials of these clocks usually had an hour hand only (minute hands did not generally appear until the 1650s) and were exposed to the air; there was normally no form of cover such as a glass until the 17th century, though the mechanism was enclosed, and the cases were made of brass. Furthermore, this devices were still too large and clumsy to fit into pockets, so they were worn mostly as pendants and treated like sophisticated jewelry.
However, despite these limitations, the trend caught on and Nuremberg's clocksmith industry flourished so much that the term "Nuremberg Egg became a synonym for "pocketwatch.

Story so far by Sarawathi Aunty

Chapter 41..
Image result for the elfic romantic couple

The Story goes..

The latest chapter, released without any fanfare
Speaks very much about the author's flair
For her style, language, thoughts and presentation
Completely fulfilling the readers' expectation
She is like the beautician who awesomely decorates the bride
No doubt, she can hold her head high with pride
The readers feel they are attending a wedding ceremony
Seen from their posts that are so many!

The cunning Kunwar learns about him from the macho man
Both plan for a revenge against him as cleverly as they can
By plotting to cause trouble to him and his lovely wife
Who have just about to start their much -awaited love life..
There she now tries to revive the colour and sound
She forgot all along due to her grief so profound
She wraps herself completely in such distractions
To redress the thoughts running in her mind about his missions

From the dice game she plays with his friends she gets the clue
She sees the revelation and decides what next to do
The words and the lesson she learns from the epic book
She finds them already in her unread life book
"In what way is this 'Dronacharya' accountable for his students' atrocities?"
She makes a move to his empty room considering it her priority
But also feels the emptiness in her heart at the end of the day
"His life is a shade of grey- a unique shade of grey!"

Our hearts go to the young protagonist whom we adore
Her playful anger, her yearning , her passion, her love all show
How the author is meticulous in presenting the story to the readers
Who without doubt, acknowledge it as the magnum opus..
He invites her for a meeting with him in his room
Their closeness is like the fragrance of the flowers that just bloom
From the strand of her hair on his pillow, he sees her heart
From the gifts he bought her, she knows he is not far apart..

Thus goes the author's chapter forty one
Successful in satisfying each and everyone
The longest ever with a two part-presentation
One surpassing the other in eloquent narration
Like a chubby baby born with dimple chin and rosy lips
We wait for their nascent love to develop without any slip
Three cheers for our author Sahiba once again
With the request for a similar treat again and again.

Karkuzhali.

A poem on Chapter 41 by Lana and Sandhya

Who is it? Royalty with blue blood?
No, He is clad in blue, a noble stud!
Relaxing with his Sherbat in the sun,
A tete-a-tete with his Begum is super fun,
With his Begum Sahiba sitting opposite him,
Her coyness and shy smile flowing to the brim!

But He knew and caught her furtive theft,
of being in his room and before she left,
Her hair on his pillow left a warm fuzzy feel,
He realised her heart is no more of cold steel,
It has thawed to him and his presence,
It looks forward to a feel of pleasance!

Being caught by him she did not bow down,
She faced him with defiance but without a frown!
He asked her about her time in the evening,
She answered jovially her lessons in receiving,
From his best man so far in Chaupar,
He, in turn, invited her to the game at par,
Playing with him to show her tricks,
His Begum has picked with her dice sticks,

In conversing, he came to know, she is Seventeen,
Her Birthday came and went in between,
He was not there to celebrate and wish her so,
Now he wished her from his heart at get-go,
a loving, joyful, heartwarming wish,
That filled her within, cosily in a bliss!

She thanked him for that warm, generous feel,
He hoped she liked his gifts and their appeal,
She knew not he had sent her awaited gifts,
Immediately her young mind to those drifts,
Seeing her so he said she can go and look,
She went to see what gifts did he undertook;

To present her after his prolonged trip,
Seeing two boxes her eager heart skip,
She opened the smaller one to find,
a treasure to cherish, it is one of a kind!
It was an ivory framed magnifying lens,
Helping her see a lot bigger times tens!
She was thrilled to see his thoughtful gift,
Next, her gaze to the mid-size box shift!

She opened to find a magical toy,
It brings things closer - what a joy!
Later she found a scroll hidden inside,
She opened and read the letter with pride,
He said it is a binocular that she can use,
to discover, explore and study in profuse -
the world around her making it beautiful,
as She does always excitedly in plentiful!

She felt brimming with joy and happiness,
May her abundant joy form into togetherness!
In her happiness, He wanted a share and to drown,
He was eager to see the invisible wall going down!

The wall that kept them miles apart
Though they were quite near
The wall that chained her fluttering heart
With doubts and baseless fear

Her bliss and peace at the barrier's fall
Showed Lashy's magical flair
His joy at the first cracks in the wall
Was lovely beyond compare.
