My dear Ashwinee,

I understand, child. You should concentrate on your work first - I do not know if it is college or a job- and the IF should come only a distant second.

As for Jodha, if I were to simply blame the CVs, my dear, what would I be doing here? One could simply say they are to be praised when someone is very good ,and similarly that it is all their fault when one gets a scene like this one of Jodha's Do you get me at all, Ashwinee?

I have tried explaining this to so many at various times, but I do not seem to be able to make them see it. I think it is a defence mechanism for those who like Jodha a lot, they cannot accept that their favourite character could behave in such a lousy fashion.

I have no problem blaming Jalal when he behaves badly, or wrongly, as he did when he offered to give up the throne so that Jodha would not be forced to convert to Islam. I wrote very strongly against what he did then in my Jodha Akbar 100b post, The demands of rajadharma. There was very little response,as everyone was busy gushing over him for keeping his zubaan ( a real one this time, unlike the non-existent one that was trotted out some time back, during the Mohini segment, and which has now acquired a life of its own😉). It was pathetic! Now of course, with this emasculated group, I will not expect any!

Don't worry about commenting on this later, my dear. You had better move on to my next one, which I am planning to put up later today, if only to take my mind off the woes of my friends and relatives in rain-deluged Chennai. But I do not think I will be continuing for much longer. It is too much work for too little response.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Aunty

Dear Shyamala Aunty,

Sorry for the late response. Assignment time again! Loved your take and agree with what you say about Jodha's post hawaii visit. That is exactly how it looks but I do think Saraswathi aunty and Lavnya are right in guessing what it was the inept CVs probably wanted to convey. How we wish they had managed it properly for once!

PRC is a treat though not all of it is available (Rajat's parts I mean. I could not watch even one of the post-Rajat episodes just as I could not watch MP post-leap)

Hoping to be back with comments and soon but... I completely understand how you must feel after giving your more than 100% to these analyses!
Warmest Regards
Ashwinee

Akka,

As usual, your comparisons are out of the world! Not that I would ever dare to compare myself to a deity ready to give darshan! Kannathile pottukaren, to ward off any divine punishment, or at least a rap on the knuckles!😉

I had no idea you came to Jodha Akbar so late. And you read most of my posts after that? Marvellous!

I hope to get another post out later today, if only to keep my mind off the travails of those close to me in Chennai. I have been able to contact most of them, but a few are not responding. You know, if one reads of bushfires ringing an Australian town, or mudslides taking Hollywood homes with them, one reacts with abstract sympathy. But when it is someone close to you, one is really afraid. I do not have Sandhya' s number. I must try and get it from Adiana. I hope her house is not flooded.

Dear Shyamala,

Yes. I understand your frustration.
It is exactly like the Temple chariot procession. The devotees, who showed enthusiasm in the aarohaN of the deity, followed the chariot to some distance, but are not seen anywhere in the vicinity. Though the deity is willing to give Dharshan and blessings, how can the chariot proceed without a force to push?

Thank you for your compliment. But I started watching the JA show from You-tube only from last year and came into the forum still later.

Saraswathi.

Lord, Akka, what will you suggest next? And what are you proposing to weigh me in? I hope it is (a) books, and (b) Lindt's chocoballs and (c) sohan papdi. Proportions: 90% for (a), and 5% each for (b) and (c)

To compare your waiting for my posts with the way in which we used to wait for Ananda Vikatan and Kalki in the post every week - in the late 195os and early 1960s when we were living in Maharashtra - is a great compliment. Thank you!

I agree with your suggestion. I think that once I have got this Ratanpur Qila track over and done with, I will switch to weekly posts, with summary paras for the unimportant parts and highlighting only the important ones. But Akka, it won't be easy, compressing 7 episodes into an 8 page post, and then again, once you take out the detailing, there will no rasa left in the posts. It will be like the time I used to slave at editing and compressing talking points for the PM and the Minister of External Affairs, while still keeping it comprehensive. It is very tough to do.

Writing only about the best episodes in tempting, but then for those, my old posts are very good, and there is hardly anything I can add to them, so why bother?

Let me see what I do in the end. For now, I have started watching Siya ke Ram, on Star Plus, recording the omnibus 3 hours telecasts on Sunday morning and watching those. It is interesting, but they are hinting that Rama had a sister, Shantha, which is really being creative with a vengeance! I am not sure I will last very long with it; the Rama looks distinctly unpromising. I have already switched off Ashoka and the Colours channel in one fell sweep. So it is only Jodha Akbar for now.

Dear Shyamala,
God morning!
Thank you very much for your beautiful reply.
My advice is that instead of abruptly stopping , you can gradually reduce the number of your posts. You can skip those episodes that are unworthy of any review and select only those that are really praiseworthy.
Your analyses are like a guide to a Ph.D research student and are like featured articles in the Wikipedia and will be useful at all the times. Of course members like me will be disappointed, because it has become a habit for us to expect your posts every Sunday and Thursday like we used to wait for the postman in those days! It is like how eagerly I would be waiting to read the serial by my most favourite writer in my favourite magazine which would be on the stands every Friday!

However the decision is yours. (Do you have a 'tharasu' like Jalal has in Agra?)

Saraswathi.

Shyamala,
Sorry, the tharasu is not for weighing you in books or chocolates , (though it gives me ideas). It is to help you to decide which one to choose -either to stop or continue your write-ups. If you are wearing a ring on your finger, you can place that on one side ,and if you cannot interpret its verdict, you can consult the CVs.!

And I want to say something about your " ..it is like saying 'nee sariyaana thanjavur ethan' to a person from Thanjavur ...". This is what is called "Ayyampettai velai"!

Saraswathi.
