Preeti, we Jalalphlies will fully agree that the death knell to the epicness of this love story came from Jalal - as Jodha was nowhere in the story as a lover and unless the beloved becomes lover the love story cannot be epic and this Jodha was only I me myself to this Jalal's lover, she never became a lover

Hello Shyamala, I am sorry It took me so long to respond to your post and your question posted to me in your previous thread.

First of all, I finally figured out who Mohini and Mohan were😆. had totally forgottentthe nickname given to these most favored " Jeev Jantus"

Episode 79: Unexpected depths

Okay okay I have to admit I was one of those forum wasis who absolutely loved the L'affaire Mohini- Truth is Shyamala, I am a hopeless romantic and a sucker for scenes like this especially when Jalal was so brilliant in it. I do not tend to analyse every scene in such detail as you do. If it is as visually pleasing as this scene was then its a winner for me.

" Bizarre obsession" " Conjugal Rights" and "A Freudian explanation": I am going to skip these sections as I believe we have discussed this at length in your " akhada"😉

Episode 80: The turning of the tide

The mannat: The Mazhar scene was magnificent and very very peaceful. I have always loved their scenes at the Dargah. Besides I am very partial to Jalal's look in this style of Pagdi. Jalal looks so very handsome here😳

The Removal of his ammunition: Jodha! Jodha! , Jodha! Will your follies never cease😡 😡

Episode 82: The darkness descends: This section of yours took me by surprise. I was so furious with Jodha when watching this last year, that I did not look at her desperate attempts to rescue Jalal with much sympathy. A very sensitively and beautifully written take on Jodha ...and I must admit a refreshing change 😉.

I did not care much for the slapping spree that Ruks subjected her to but then am not surprised either. I do however laud Jodha's honesty whether it is because of being an " innocent abroad" or any other reason.

Your section on "Tiger, tiger, burning bright" , "Other lunch options for Mohan" and "Sound advice for Jalal" were absolutely hilarious 🤣.

" Epic Love Story" : Now to the specific question you asked me about your comments to Saraswathi Aunty/Akka...well I am as disappointed as you are about how this " epic love" eventually turned out. In fact I was so deeply affected that unlike you I abandoned the show much earlier. I agree with much of what you have said Shyamala and I truly felt your angst when you wrote to Saraswathi Aunty/Akka. You truly have a gift for words as well as a very sensitive outlook👏

HOWEVER with all due respect, I think there were 2 Major issues/ events which completely diluted this love story that you have completely missed. They promise to be very contentious and are perhaps best left alone so that your post does not descend into another " akhada".😊 I will however say that while reading the comments from your friends here about Jodhas numerous crimes ( I fully agree her crimes were indeed many) ...the final death Knell to this " epic love story" came from Jalal and not Jodha.

I better stop now Shyamala or should I say " Jump of the treadmill" as you so cleverly put it 😃

In this thread,I find a lot of views that cheer me no end.
😆
Akka's responses are like Malcom Marshall, Desmond Haynes, Glenn Mcgrath and wasim akram bowling but not to Brian lara / Tendulkar /VVS Laxman 😆 but to the likes of Ravindra Jadeja.
😆
Absolute bouncers in terms of logic and precision of why there was no love or epicness if there was a story ? Insanification theme was proof of that. Come on - One of the greats of entire history accepted all over the world had learn the A to Z from his JODHA Begum only ?!! 😆
After been with the 1st run, I now firmly think that the serial was ONLY about JODHA MAHANTAA from day 1 and that IS THE ONLY knot the CVs/Makers had steadily among all other tamashas.
This is my conclusive take on this serial and no one needs to agree with me. 😃

But then that is not surprising, the lack of creativity can be seen everywhere, even here on this thread, this was supposed to be an intelligent discussion of a couple of episodes, instead it has devolved to a kitty party meeting and ad nauseum talk of what went wrong with the serial. Nothing new there, not a single argument here that I have not already read a million times over the past one year.

But that is the thing about creativity. It's singularly lacking in everyone.

Good point donjas - It indeed is a problem for humanity. 😆
You see it becomes so difficult to sustain even in the same job without re-innovating yourself. It is a great challenge to me. But in show biz it is the golden rule
Shut the goddamn show if you cannot show anything other than Akbar pressing Jodha's feet.

Thanks for your response. As I have said on previous occasions, I say what I have to say and sometimes I don't even think if what I am saying will hurt anyone's feelings. I am not a politically correct person. Your thread is a big one usually, locating incisive thoughts takes a lot of scrolling, it takes a lot of time, if in addition one has to wade through posts about going to the new James Bond movie or a get together(though that is a good idea, I too would like to meet you personally one day), that distracts thoughts. Also, I see no useful purpose to repeat the laundry list of foolish mistakes that Ekta and the CV's did to doom this serial. Every single argument has been dissected to it's minutest detail. If there is a new logical argument I would be most interested to hear it.

There is so much else about the episodes to discuss here. In the other thread there was such an interesting discussion about conjugal rights. I did not contribute there because I am not sure of my own position on the subject, but the discussion was fascinating and relevant to JA.

We are still on this forum, because of the ZEE Anmol repeats, otherwise we all had said our goodbyes in July itself.

I have averaged two posts of thoughts on each of your wonderful threads and rest assured that trend will continue. There is no way I will not comment on the descriptive tiger attack and aftermath scenario. As for continuing your thought provoking series of posts, that decision is yours, after all interest and health come first.

By the way, how is your body responding to withdrawal of medication.

ABOUT THE FEELING OF A LACK OF CREATIVITY ON MY THREADS

My dear Donjas (and all my other friends here),

This sense of there not being any 'creative" discussion on this thread seems to me a bit misplaced.

I wrote this post about 3 episodes of Jodha Akbar. A number of readers commented on all three and I have responded individually to all of them. You commented on one episode only, the first one, and while I felt your defence of Jodha there was spirited, and said so in my response to it, I agreed with some of your points and did not agree with the rest, and said so. I have not yet seen your comments on the other two episodes, especially the third one, over which I took a lot of trouble, so I have not been able to respond to them.

That does it as far as the comments and my responses goes. I cannot respond to comments that are not sent in. So now, the discussions on this thread can be about anything else in the serial that interests me or the others. Whence the discussions on whether Jodha Akbar was an epic love story.

There have been such off-the-immediate-topic discussions always, on my threads and those of others, in 2013/4 and now. Why, I once got a 20% increase in my warning level for posting a long historical response to you on the siege of Chittor on a thread that had nothing to do with that track. The increase in the WL was for posting that on a thread other than the non-designated one. The funniest thing about that was that you never got around to reading that response for over 2 months, till I PMed you about it!😉

And as for the kitty party that upset you so much, I agree that those posts were meant for PMs, but it was only 5/6 messages in all and then it stopped. My threads in 2013 used to be reduced, overnight, to a cat's cradle of 12-15 pages of jokes about the show by the Chipmunk Gang, Alakh, Sandhya, Tripti, and many others. I could hardly locate the comments to which I had to respond! But I do not mind if young people have some harmless fun.

You also have to take into account that everything we are discussing is a rehashing of old stuff, and that there is not much new that I or anyone can find to say about it . I cannot do natakiya rupantar the way the CVs do it.

Plus the sense of expectation is all gone, and that drastically reduces the level of interest. I used to get 80-90 likes for any post of mine, now I barely get 30 likes if I am lucky! 😉

That is why I was very reluctant to start this series at all. It takes quite some effort, and now my hands, after the stopping of the steroid pills, are beginning to ache again. So, any time the number of Likes falls to 20, or my hands get to be as bad as they were in mid-October, I shall quit. Then there will be nothing about my threads to upset anyone!😉

Bindu, akhaada is a traditional indian mud wrestling ring where the two opponents wrestle each other and their aim is to make the other guy "chatao dhool"😆😆😆

I guess everyone is oiling their chops for the next round.😊

Dearest Shyamala Aunty,
What a lovely piece of writing - this and the previous one too. No matter what we, your hardcore regulars, individually feel about the CVs, the reel Jalal and Jodha, the story, the script, the dialogues, the pillars or the posts (not the forum ones, well those too but here I meant of Agra or Amer), we are all of us, without exception, unanimous in our love of your writing, your way of analysing and the minutiae with which you bring the scenes and the characters alive. Your threads do bring and bind us together and for this I personally will feel eternally grateful to Balaji, Ekta, Jodha Akbar, even the CVs. 😃 Thank you! I am not saying goodbye or anything like that but just wanted to say this because the content of your posts is so thought provoking and the comments on them equally so that I often get distracted from saying this aloud.

I am having great fun (intellectual and plain akhada watching kind😛 in equal measure) reading this and the previous thread. As usual I am a thread and a half late and most have said anything that I could have said and more.

Sandhya, Adiana, Khushi, Sri, Lavanya, Donjas, Devki, Preeti, Sarswathi aunty, Zanna, Khalesi, Shagun, Bindu - great stuff! Thank you!

Aunty, are we already at the end of the steroid treatment? Has the weaning started? I hope you are not overtaxing your fingers and wish with all my heart that the pain remains if not away at least manageable.
🤗
Warmest Regards
Ashwinee

Not then, not now...👏

Thank you for posting exactly what I felt after reading a certain comment.. I was rather appalled that it made me break my stealth lurking to post my 2 cents worth..

I am just a simpleton who loves aunty's witty or should I say, naughty swipe at some of the characters... Let it be the kanha and his earplugs or the heartfelt petition from the overused yellow joda to shahenshah.. I vaguely remember reading abt Bhagwan das and Salima being sibling due to their emotionless expression.. 😆 It's post like this that crack me up...

To Aunty,
I am humbled that you still remembers i posted just once years back i shared and enjoy your wicked sense of humor and you kept that in your mind till now and PM me recently that you are back from sabbatical.

You do not have to mind those rude comments.. We love your posts. I think poor jodha gets too much flak from you... But that is my own view.. I have never once posted saying i don't agree or impose my own view.. That's because I am not really that invested in the characters that i feel the need to defend them. I felt the need to say something in defend u today.. 😳 Not that u need it.. I am sure u gave a fitting reply.

You keep posting the way you always do.. Don't have to let other dictate or curb your your replies.

To whom it may concern...
So people are chatty in the thread, gushing over Akdha, or lamenting why the plot fall so flat... It's their View... For u it may be lack of creativity.. For me.. You lack sensitivity and tolerance.. Peace.
