MA's mind is still playing a game...but this time, ONLY with MA herself...NOT with anybody else...

..actually, acc to me, MA is a classic case of Multiple Personality Disorder..
...it's always been Adham's mom v/s Jalal's Mom..

...Adham's mom overpowered Jalal's mom long back...but with Adham's death, Adham's mom ALMOST died too, AFTER cursing Jalal's kids.
...but now, Jalal's mom has resurfaced, n wants to embrace Jalal once, before her final journey...

All her life, MA's mind played games with everyone around her...& with herself...

But now, MA is all alone...n hence her mind is playing with ONLY her..
.the now very very weak Adham's mom has managed to convince MA that she may have erred a bit, but overall she was a good mother to Jalal ...
...n Jalal's Mom was pleading with Jo to let her meet her son Jalal...

Aap baja farmati hain Khushi Begum - this is Jalal's Mom wanting to rest in peace that Adham's Mom has been forgiven and Jalal's Mom thus gets her redemption...
and Khushi only a son like Jalal has the capacity to take the pain of both the mothers and heal them...
and now that the cry for the son has reached him, he will come for the mothers...
this is the journey to show how selfless a child can be... a beautiful journey for all those children who are selfless even when parents get self-serving - Sands is so right when she says that HB must have done punya by the truck loads in all her past births to get such a child !!!!!!

There was one more personality, Wazir-e-Aliya.
This one resented anyone getting more than her, and led to Bairam Khan's downfall as well as Ruqaiyya's MC...😒

Maham has many personalities in her
1) Adham's mom
2) Jalal's mom
3) Hamida's competitor for Jalal love
4) Ruqaiah's scheming mother-in-law(how she made jalla scold her in DEK)
5) Rajvanshi hater for Jodha
6) Jealous parent competing with BK for jalal's attention
etc etc there are more I shall skip them
Basically after Aurangzeb she takes the medal for most scheming person in mughals of all time, third is nur jahan, fourth Mah chu chuk

Very good analysis. I liked how you presented your viewpoint. In my opinion however, this is not a case of multiple personality disorder. There is no schism of personalities, and it has not been shown that different personalities express themselves at different times.

Here, it one single complicated character having conflicting feelings. Her desire for Adham to become king is at odds with her love for Jalal, but her mind has developed justification for it. Her personality is complete, and she has total control over it at all times.

In a MPD patient, the person is often unaware of their various personalities, not so in this case.

Nice post kushi ...

But i wonder if there was ever a jalal's mom or for that matter if there was ever a mom in her... she for sure she loved the concept of being jalal's mom..
Adham could never meet up her high standards of how a son should be a("A class apart from others) Jalal was always an envision of how a son should be for her and that's y the extra guilt she carried till to date that she loved ja;al more " Bari ammi" is a Status Symbol for her a matter of highest pride ... and till the date when jalal fits her envision ,she was controlling adham and the day she realized jalal is slowly changing and not completely fitting her bill ,she immediatedly wanted adham to take that place ...

and when all is lost instead of feeling remorse she is still blaming the shenshah for all that and now wants to meet the son jalal ... so for me she is one of those people who would never understand what love is and without love how could she be a mom ever?

Khushi...Well written post. Hats off to you for making a courageous attempt to understand the brain of a very complex character. I agree that her mind is still playing games ( further complicated by end of life delirium)...but she isnt a classic case of MPD ( now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder), a complex and over diagnosed mental disorder.
In my opinion, Donjas's argument of absence of amnesia between personalities (an actual DSM 5 criteria) to rule out the diagnosis of MPD is superb.

khushi, a good take on jalal's mom versus adham's mom..adham was lahoo ka putra and jalal was doodh ka putra..initially she might have taken good care of jalal as she knew he will be the future king and she will have her control over him and by keeping him in control she will have adham's future secure..ek teer se do nishaane..but while bringing jalal up she developed that soft corner for him as a son..just like when u keep a pet u feel sad when the pet dies..and here after adham died she herself died completely but towards the end she did realize that adham too was wrong somewhere and that she too was at fault..but that love for a pet whom she raised surfaced and wanted to see the one that she cared before dying!..but if adham would have killed jalal she would not have felt so bad and would not have died like this..but jalal on the other hand will feel shattered as this was the mother he knew and she was with him during his most tender days and she was the one with him holding his hand when he took his very first baby step!..and i am feeling more bad for jalal than for maham!

I guess both of you are right, Donjas & Cleo...now that I think of it, in Sidney Sheldon's "Tell me your dreams", even Ashley Patterson was neither aware of Toni Prescott nor of Alette Peters residing within her...n Toni was committing murders n poor Ashley was being charged for them...

This was just my attempt as a layman to interpret MA's Complex psychotic behaviour...but you both being professionals/studying psychiatry, would obviously be better equipped to comment on it...

I concur with Donjas' evaluation of MA...

Cleo, it's interesting to know that MPD is now ka DID...I wasn't aware of that...thanks...😊
