Mansi, wonderful post as always. I loved your description of Jodha and Jalal's scene. I think they put the scene for Jalal to finally come out of his zombie like state and let out his agony. He had not mourned Adga Khan till he screamed it out in the hamam.

I think Jodha's reaction to his touch was not just due to fear but she recoiled at the blood on his hands which was Adham's. In hamam when Jalal so frantically washed the blood of his face and hands - he was scrubbing furiously and with disgust like how did he soil his hands with this. Jodha's reaction brought him back. It was good how Jodha realized immediately and followed Jalal but did not intrude.

I think the dialogues by both about how they still do not know each other completely are an indication of how they are realizing their journey is just starting.

SD reaction was totally him, selfish to the core and no love or feelings for anyone.

I did not feel pity for Maham, yes she lost the only person she loved and he loved only her, however she was responsible for him lying like that. Agreed he was a grown man but he never ever got out of her shadow, nor did she let him. She never made him aware of his mistakes rather she shared all her ugliness only with him and poisoned him entirely.
She covered up his crimes always and only encouraged him to change the way of his crimes not desist from them.

I don't think Jalal has any feelings left for her. When she was in agony I thought Jalal realized fully and so did everybody how fake or selfish her love for Jalal was. MA mentioned Adham talking all the time about wanting to kill Jalal, so obviously this is something they both had discussed many times. Jalal just has been taking in all that MA is saying since every other time before this he met her - she was always lying to him and pretending and manipulating him.

These times are the only times her guard slipped and Jalal got to see the real MA. The one who never loved him like a son, she was never a mother he thought her to be, she never even loved him a little - unselfishly. It was only about how she can use him to get for her son and her what she felt they should get.

Jalal is finally rid of MA not even a little sorrow or guilt will be left. He will know if at all he was far more generous and loving towards her, this woman did not deserve his love and his absolute trust.

Jalal now knows only who he can trust and that is Jodha. Cos like he told her after Atifa track if she knew he was putting his life in danger she would have stood between him and the enemy. Jalal knows Jodha will always be willing to do that for him and only she loves him totally.

Jalal is rid of MA but I wonder when US VIEWERS ARE GOING TO BE RID OF HER. I wish really soon cos CVs you got No.1 now get rid of the dead wood and bring fresh thinking and new villains and vamps please!

Jalal and Jodha are ready for them cos they have each other.

Maddy, that was a sweet, lovely and very positive post! I immensely enjoyed reading it. And especially when you have so highly praised my favourite people Jodha and Jalal and looked at their future minus all the negative elements like Maham, it feels so good to expect happy things!
Regarding Maham, even if Jalal had some vestige of feeling for her seeing her beg for one meeting with her son, that precap curse would have driven away everything ... this is in fact the true face of Maham! Any other face of hers was just a naatak. A woman who can curse and give this kind of bad dua can stoop to anything!
This reminds me of something I once read somewhere ... that there are two types of "social climbers" ... there are the one you can tolerate who wish they are better than you and keep competing with you for everything, and become an irritant ... but even so they are tolerable.. But they are not half as bad as the one that try to bring you down to their level. That curse reminded me of that. Its was like "I lost my son, now I hope you lose yours".
But if we are talking of tit for tat, what about the children of Jalal that Maham has previously converted to miscarriages? Has she not started the whole chain of children-killing? Does she at least now understand what it feels like to lose a child? And does she not realise that her own misdeeds earlier with Jalal's children -to-be have come back to haunt her? Does she want more of Jalal's children to die now?
I feel like asking: My dear Maham, for one big son of yours who died, how many small children of Jalal do you want to kill? Is it a tarazu you are trying to equalize?

These last few days have been quite something! :) I could not get to writing yesterday, so here is my take on both yesterday and today.

A bird's eye view brief take of this landscape: Bairam Khan's jalal is back! Jalal has gotten rid of MA, and finally found a much needed balance between BK and Jodha.

As we know, Jalal started with BK's influence and became a great fighter, successful ruthless king, and a lousy human being.

Then, under Jodha's influence he became a good human being, the kind that Jo and HB could admire. :)

Unfortunately, that's not enough for an Emperor, and Jalal started looking like a fool in that grand game, getting beaten and actually beaten up by small time crooks.

We now hope and it does seem that he at last has found his balance. He can be the old BK's Jalal or the new Jo's Jalal, depending on who he is dealing with. If so, if I am right, he is finally on his way to becoming Akbar the Great.

Jalal + Jodha: In the beginning Jalal over-rewarded MA and let her manipulate him. At least once he could have wondered why Jiji Anga doesn't come talking about doodh ka karz every other day. Both he and Jo blindly forgave every criminal act against them, if perpetrated by family. Even with ample warnings, Jalal did not take basic security precautions like stationing good fighters to guard important locations, surveillance, placing restrictions on suspicious people.

To be fair, however, people like Atga and Todarmal could have done some of this on their own. It was within their authority. So the bad security culture was widely and deeply rooted in Agra.

Life is a journey. Ja Jo are not perfect and they are learning. Simply put, neither was prepared for the level of treachery that the Mughal empire has from Agra to Kabul! Learning on the job is not without cost, and sometimes the cost is too high as it was in this case.

Jodha's recoil from Jalal: I am neutral about Jo's behavior towards Jalal right after Adham's killing. How she reacted to Jalal's approach was neither evil nor particularly admirable. It was one possible and understandable reaction. However, I can't understand why some people here are getting actually upset if someone questions what Jo did. After all, Jo did the same herself within moments when she thought, "Hey Bhagwan, what have I done?" You don't think that way when you have confidence in how you behaved.

Maham Anga: I am annoyed but hardly surprised that she remains front and center in every episode. EK/CVs just won't let her go. Their intent is obvious from getting her involved in the twins death by her bad-dua. That was so uncalled for, so unnecessary. It has no basis in history and also none in decency.

Unlike some of you, I am not impressed by Maham's dramas. I am sure she grieves for her worthless dead son, but towards everyone else she still is what she always was: a compulsive manipulator. She has never really regretted any of her misdeeds and does not do so now. If she had, she would have admitted her past misdeeds, offered sincere apologies, and offered to take corrective action if possible. Her idea of taking responsibility is to remind everyone that she gave AK's share of care Jalal.

Adham: Frankly, I don't understand this enormous suffering Adham is supposed to have gone through merely by having a brother. Many of us grewp up with several siblings. What about those who have twins? What about children of thousands of other dai-mas? They don't all grow up to be stupid, resentful, and murderous.

A grown up man must take responsibility for his actions, but MA's hand is all over AK's criminally sick psyche. She gave him wrong ambitions and disloyal conspiratorial thinking. She taught him to treat others' kindness as their stupidity and vulnerability. By using her considerable power and cleverness to continuously shield him from the consequences of his choices and actions, she also prevented him from learning life's lessons when they would have been small and cheap.

In brief...

I will miss Atga Saheb. Not flashy, not spectacular, and we never knew when he entered and won our hearts ever so stealthily! (I didn't even mind it that his eyelids moved a little when he was supposed to be dead.😊)

I hope Javeda gets a second chance and finds a good life.

I hope Ja Jo will reflect on all that has happened, learn lessons, find a new balance, and continue on their magnificent journey together.

I am remembering BK with fondness. He was an imperfect man, and an incomplete mentor, but much of what he taught Jalal is absolutely necessary if Jalal has to survive, let alone succeed, as an emperor.

I can't wait to get rid of MA. :)

Very Simply and beautifully written post AKT.JA . I enjoyed reading it .

Well said about MA . I wish her character is given no more importance . No one glorifies evil better than EK . That is her super speciality .

I wish we get to see the development of Todar Mal's character . He was one of the "navratnas " in Akbar's durbar . He was a positive influence in Akbar's life besides being his revenue minister . Mentor and guide to Akbar after Atgah saab's passing . I wish the Creatives pay more attention to positivity .
