Divya, after today's milestone epi, I would like to share some of the writings on Akbar from various sources.

The period of Akbar's regime has been regarded as a milestone in the development of the composite culture of the Indian subcontinent region.

Prof Irfan Habib says that the society that Akbar had visualised was one in which some of the worst features of obscurantist ideas were not allowed free play - such as restricting of / trying to restrict Sati, modernising the education syllabus to be in sync with contemporary / modernist / rationalist thinking, and other social reforms - an attempt to increase India's trade overseas and overland so that India develops and becomes a part of the developing world,

Prof. J.S. Grewal says, a part of the secret of Akbar's greatness lies in the fact that he was in almost complete harmony with the ideas and attitudes of the most creative minds of his age. Hence, though Akbar died, the ideals he represented, they flourished, and that is why he is relevant to us today.

Interestingly, Prof Habib also points that Akbar's tolerance of all religions may have actually come from his rejection of religion as 'Din' and of materiality/temporality as 'Duniya' - both being a creation of the intellect hence both being illusions - hence calling Akbar's monotheism as a new religion and giving it the name 'Din-i-Ilahi' would be both incorrect and an injustice to the man, since it would attribute to him a term that he may have rejected with disgust.

Prof. Habib also states that in Akbar's court there was an immense glorification of reason and of rationalism, and thus a renewed interest in science and technology.

The question we may ask ourselves in the 21st century is - how many have the boldness to favour tolerance, inclusivity and unity being supreme over religious laws today the way Akbar did 500 years ago?!?!?!?!

thanks so much for sharing! Yes, Akbar is truly ahead of him time and we need a leader like him in today's time. Loved your lines I have underlined below.

Divi,

It was a beautiful episode, and there were many things I like about it, here are a few things,
1. Jodha's gift - It was a giant model of the coin, and it was like a modern day billboard for movies.

I guess it was a billboard for his policies

2. The sombre expressions during coronation - Salima was remembering BK while crowning Jalaal, and he understood it. It was a really nice gesture, I am sure when he was a kid, it had been BK who had crowned him in a battlefield, and now it was his beloved wife.

Yes, it was a touching scene and also highlighted the importance of Salima in his life

3. The speech - Now my only complaint with this, please innovate CVs, I have heard these words for religious equality since childhood, and only because RT was reciting it with conviction that I didn't throw a mental tomato at you.

Well the DEK had heard it ... Not the awaam 😆

4. The process of naming - Again very simple and subtle. And it was not some strapping proud young man, but a wise old one, who came with a simple letter, and Jalaal's face with a humble childlike delight spoke volumes.

Yes, for a change the extra who gave him the letter was well chosen!

5. The soul talk - As opposed to the regular visual, today's was shot from the side, and Jalaal was wearing his turban/crown today. Usually he's bare-headed.

Yes, I noticed the turban in the shadow as well!

6. Humare Akbar - Cherry on the cake! The way it was said, his delightful abashment at it, they were in their own little world. Awww!

I loved Jodha in that scene!

Now a few observations:
1, Kanghiman probably had to stay up night and day, to finish jijisa's project, so his clothes hung onto him.

probably a hand me down from someone else

2. Shehnaaz baby has a helper who's helping her, in other words, freely supplying cowdung to her brains, could it be MC?

We need another nickname for MC or it sounds like miscarriage

3. Abul mali has lost it. Hairbands ko sir pe pehente hain, aankhon pe nahi!

But he is injured in the eye so he had to create a makeshift bandaid

4. Shareefuddin was looking at Jallu and not his missus today. Miracle!

After all his enemy had become stronger ... Even he had to respect him

5. TM's back!

I mentioned him in my take for a reason 😉

6. Apparently pump-kin heads dress like that only inside the palace.

DEK uniform

7. What did they mean attacking you, Jallu uff karta to uncle ud jaate, attack it seems. With what? A letter?

A dagger wrapped in the letter ... I liked that they said that as they got a fitting response

8. Finally Jallu did an outing in his royal clothes, and nobody was playing darts on him.

Atgah finally improved security? 😆

9. Angoori bagh has seen more action than their ahem bed rooms.

I am sure they will show it flashbacks to us eventually

Lovely post Divi! Nice epiode!

Thanks! Great observations!

It was a momentous episode. Nearly a year after the serial started, Jalal of Jodha Akbar became Akbar. It was a simple but elegant scene. Even the casual bantering between Jodha and Jalal seemed suffused with magic. A really nice episode.

As for promotion, forget about it. Never going to happen. This is ZEE, after all. It has a track record of apathy to uphold.

I want to say something about myself. I hate needless Rona dhona. That is why I have never watched a serial and I don't intend to watch any other. I started watching this serial because I admire Akbar, I would have given anything with his name on it, a chance. I did it, I liked it and I stayed on.

I loved the interactions on this forum, loved reading different viewpoints. But of late this forum has had more Rona dhona about the serial than any episode Ekta could devise. 'Why is Akbar a wimp? Why is Jodha taking all the credit. Why is Jodha fighting Shenaz and not Jalal? Cribbing, cribbing, cribbing. For god sake, this is just a serial. You watch, you forget it and you watch the next episode.

Why take it this seriously?

The episode today rejuvenated me. This is the reason why I started watching, and hopefully little gems like this will keep my interest till the end.

bas! I had tears Divi...when the awam was hailing "Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar Zindabaad", I had tears...when Jodha mouthed those lines, I had tears...when JJ soul-talk was going on, I had tears, when Jodha looked extremely proud, I had tears.

Loved Jodha and Jalal in their own little world- just watched it on repeat

I had tears during the entire title giving scene.

It was so subtle but impactful

it was totally unexpected..without any promotion CVs actually gave us a surprise! probably our show is completing its 1st year of success, hence this Akbar...varna, historically he received it much later.

Maybe this was the unofficial announcement , there will be an official one later

I wanted it to be the grandest event...it wasn't..there was no build-up and it actually came as a surprise!

But Jalal would not want his praise to be so grand ... He views it as his job. Even when he was being crowned he thought of Bairam Khan and not himself.

behral, it had all the right emotions that made me stand up and clap and hail Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar Zindabaad.❤️

Of course, who would not have clapped!

like Jodha, I am also very proud of this 20 yr old boy-king who wished to rule his people's heart than ruling the lands.❤️

Of course- we have witnessed his journey!

just look back the 1st episode...he was Jallad and now he becomes Azeem...from Jalal the Jallad to Akbar the Great!❤️

Yes, a Shehenshah of his Awaam!

I am very very proud to witness such transformation.

We all are proud

Shehnshah Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar Zindabaad🥳

Of course!

admidst the crowd, Jalal's eyes were set on that one lady whom he loves the most, and the lady was all proud and happy and thanking her stars for making her the wife of this great man.❤️

Their own little world of happiness

P.S. when they were hailing I too started!😆

Who didn't?

7. Jodha's request that all khaas beghums be treated equally - Having understood the cause of Ruqaiyya's insecurities it, would have been inconsistent for her to bask in her own glory. Greatness is not a one time jackpot, it's a consistent trend. Both Akbar and his Mariam uz Zamani would have been like this.

Yes, it was a nice touch; I have to admit Salima crowning Jalal was one of my favorite moments today.

Amazing post Divya.

Thanks so much!

Today's epi was one of the best one.

Agreed!

I always thought the title giving would be in a grand way just like the movie. But I love the simplicity of the scene today. Jalal's happiness in his eyes and Jo's pride for him was beautiful. And that hamara Akbar was .

Simple but impactful. Reminds me of the saying from a movie "It is so simple to be happy but so difficult to be simple. "

The way he said those beautiful dialogue to maulavis. Those dialogue about river, air, soil was beautiful. This dialogues always bring tear in my eyes. They made me realize what a great human being he was. He was ahead of his age. That's why he was called "Akbar". My respect and love for him keep growing.

Agreed! Loved his words!

And U r right Divya Jalal never celebrate his accomplishments and he always give credits to people not many people can do that. Today in DEK he gave credit to BK for whatever he was today and I m sure he would have taken MA's name too if she would not have betrayed him. And that jesture to Salima was cute. Salima was missing her husband and he understand it.

Yes, it is because of this that Jalal was so great

The dialogue of that guy who gave him the title was also beautiful. I love that one when he said Jalal was send by God to help them.

It was so touching - CVs chose this man well

Ur Todarmal was there today happy 😉 😆

You making fun of me? 😆

And the Garden scene proved today they r planning for kids and spending night together. Okay don't show another SR but atlest they could have showed Ja taking jo to his hojra in his arms or waking up together on the same bed. Cvs r we asking so much?

Yes! They know we have very good imaginations 😉

And Its probably MahaC who is helping sorry brainwashing SN.

if that is the case, I can only hope she is not the real daughter

Thanks so much! i know there is a lot of rumblings on credit ... But if you look at it, it was Jalal that made the magic happen. To know who to listen to is a hunar (if I dare use the word 😆)

For Jalal, he has never , ever taken credit - when it comes to Bairam Khan, Jodha, or anyone else.

I am so, so glad you liked it!
