The last para is remarkably perceptive. Salim does not want to get into the habit of being cared for and shown affection, for then when he goes back to his usual milieu, the difference will be very painful.

As and when the whole matter is resolved, Akbar will find it harder to wipe out Salim's bitterness than even Jodha's pain and suffering over 8 years. Children can be unforgiving.

I like this Bharmal of yours better than the devious character in the serial. He calls a spade a spade, keeps no one in the dark, especially Jodha, and expects to be obeyed implicitly, as all heads of families did in those days

But it was Shahenshah Jalaluddin Muhammad at this point of time. The title Akbar came much later.

Thanks, I guessed that Bharamal would have announced her about her wedding like that only in 16th century
Akbar was Hamida Banu's father's name given by Humayun to Akbar. Jalaluddin is babar's first name, Akbar is maternal grand father name. Akbar was never a title but his name. Historians have given him the title The Great, Akbar the great. Ashoka is the other emperor from india to get this title.

This is very interesting, but why did they never use his name (not title) Akbar along with Jalaluddin Muhammad? It makes things confusing.

Then again, I remember that Babur's first name was Zahiruddin, and that he was called Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur.. Was there Jalaluddin as well?
