Entirely from The Emperor's perspective, he should have listened to Begum No. 1...reasons are:
1) Jalal doesn't know of Ruqu's oppurtunist intentions at this point...purely from a common sense point of view, an emperor simply CANNOT have a "mentally unstable" (Jalal doesn't know Shenu is evil, which is an even worse situation) unknown person running around loose in his palace simply because his favourite queen (out of more than 100) has developed a fancy for her a few days back, & she "thinks" that this seemingly unstable & hence dangerous person is pure hearted.2)Jodha argued that Shenu had the mind of a child (at this point, no one in the fort knows that Shenu is evil. Hence we have to consider her as mentally deranged only). She did not push Rahim intentionally...agreed.BUT...Shenu has the STRENGTH of an adult, which resulted in the threat to little Rahim's life. Hence an adult mentally unstable person is of grave danger in the future too, to the child in the palace, that is Rahim.3)There is a difference in goodness & foolishness...Jodha, in trying to be good, is being foolish. There is no room for foolishness when the safety of an emperor's palace & it's inmates is concerned.4) Salima...her having empathy for Jodha, was appreciable & indeed noble. But this kind of blind Bhakti is not. I seriously wonder 2 things:A. Would Salima have reacted in a similar way had Rahim been her own flesh & blood, & not her step-son?B. Isn't Salima also in some ways an opportunist?...she perfectly understands that Jalal & Jodha are closer than ever before, & will eventually patch up. So, better to be in their good books & let go of this Shenu matter lightly.ANY OTHER MOTHER in place of Salima would have been totally devastated that her only child has just had a narrow escape from probably a fatal accident. But here, Salima was as calm as a log of wood. I wonder y???!?! 😕After Salim is born, will Jodha allow Jalal to continue to have a mentally unstable person like Shehnaaz brought in by Ruqu (or any other queen for that matter) into the palace after a similar close escape from a near fatal accident??!...I guess we all know the answer to that...😆
khushi, you have very well placed all the points logically! and loved your last part in bold! never mind salim what if we as one of the mothers placed in a similar situation, i would run away with my kid to a safer place and never let him be around shenu!
