Great post Mansi,

yesterday's episode was just WOW! I loved it! Jalal-Maham face off was awesome, Ashwini and RT nailed it! 👏
Jodha-Shehnaaz was a sweet part of the episode, with Jodha finally confessing how she feels about Jalal.

Jala Atgha, I hated how he put the sword on Atgha necks.

Jalal yesterday rocked and he really showed Maham her place. Maham has no shame at all! She really doesn't care about anyone except for her and her nikkama son! I hated how Maham mentioned Bairam Khan to make Jalal guilty, she's so vicious! 😡

Precap, Jalal is really upset poor guy! and out of all people Ruqaiyya has to come! *sigh* 🥱 and my Shaguni too is going to tell Jodha what's right and wrong and finally Jodha will go to Agra!

How dare Maham talk of bairam Khan when she herself ws accused of his crude murder?Angry

Mansi awesome take and yes the focus was that one scene

the episode clearly belonged to AS and RT...two powerful actors who dominate the screen when present and hence their scenes combined are a treat to watch...they share an awesome chemistry too..am going to miss Ashwini so much ...will the PH be able to get another vamp of her calibre to fill in her shoes...

the confrontation scene was good ..MA was OTT..but then it was supposed to be that...she has never been about restrained emotions where her power ,position and role in the Emperor's life is concerned

her tirade of what she did and how much she did was an eye opener for Jalal...no,he was not at all moved by the ma ka pyaar thing ..rather was shocked to hear her dil ki bhadaas related to power ,position and her place in his life not the son's but the Emperor's

hence his final call..it was not about hurting her but more about taking back the one person she forgot in all this ..that is her son Jalal...hence the shock and realization that hit upon her that she spoke too much...

this is just the start ...am dreading the coming days for his sake...it is not a matter of fair ,unfair but the raw emotions associated ...she was his mother to him and the biggest betrayal which leaves a lifelong scar is that one relationship...this will be his absolute realization that AK is her son not him per say

hopefully we see more of Jalal and HB now...

i have no idea if ruqaiyya will still accept he loves jodha even if a blind man can see through ...or is she more scared about her role in all this coming out...and it is indeed too much to hope that she consoles him as his best friend

the man is indeed so lonely...

and that is indeed a very unhealthy love she carries for Jalal...and i have seen mothers who have this kind of strong emotion for their child holding them back reminding them day in and out of everything they did for them and how they should be the most important in thier life...a fear to lose their son to another woman...

MA trying to emotionally waver jalal using her age old trick of everything she did for him and this time dragging BK also into it...trying to force his heart to shut and mind to work ..that an Emperor with a heart is bad news for the Empire and for her...Jalal was shocked and stunned into silence...and this is just the beginning of the end...

and ofcourse Jo finally voices her fear and i am hoping she takes that leap of faith for both of them..

Mansi, brilliant episode and a brilliant analysis.
Ashwini's performance was mindblowing...For the first time, I am tempted to watch the episode again. I probably will.

My mother has always said that one of the hallmarks of very evil people - like some very negative historical diactators - was that they could couch their venom and evil in words that almost made it sound like they were on a divine mission .

Loved this line... If you listen to speeches of some famous dictators from 20th and 21st centuries( or even some well known terrorist leaders) you'll find that it is applicable to almost all of them. Most of them were very charismatic and good with words.
Moms are wise.😊

Khushi, I expected there to be a lot of debate on this point. But as I explained in an earlier reply to someone, I have read up a lot of recent research and I was very moved by the insights that a lot of saas-bahu hatred comes from mothers who are obsessively "in love" with sons to the extent that daughter-in-law are considered almost as the "other women". This reading has informed the point I made and I can understand if there is a lot fof debate on this issue because it is a bit controversaial as an idea.
But how I look at things is this: why does a mother feel the need to be the "most important woman" position in her son's life, who she dearly & unconditionally loves.? Why is she unable to share that position with the son's wife? What are the reasons for wanting to be the NO. 1 in the son's life? That is what these recent researches have gone into.

Well, I may not have read up the research on this topic, but I have often given this universal problem of SAAS bahu conflicts a lot of thought. 😆

It's all about expectations. Parents have expectations from sons & daughters in law, because predominantly, esp in India, parents live with them, & the son & dil, look after them, on a daily basis. On the other hand, parents, only expect the daughter to be happy with her husband & her new family (daughters do take care of parents, but only when the need arises, & not on a daily basis) Rarely do we hear of a father having animosity for his son-in-law for having usurped the "most important man" position in his daughter's life.

Somewhere along the way, parents' love for their sons (note: both father's & mother's) changes from unconditional love to conditional love due to the expectations building up, even BEFORE the son is married. After marriage, the father continues to be the most important man in his son's life while the mother, who so far was the most important woman, is now NOT any longer! Hence, the mother wants to continue to be the most important woman in her son's life as she is scared that the new woman in her son's life might sway or influence his thinking in his duties towards his parents & the rest of his family.

I guess we have swayed from the main topic, but I still do feel that my views about MA's love for Jalal remain the same: that it is the kind of love we have for our animal pets, who obey our every wish & command, & are unable to comprehend what we actually have in our minds.

Loggin in IF after a long time and just got to read your wonderful post Mansi, you weave such magic with words that takes us through the scenes in trance.Keep it up and god bless👏 .
Much awaited scene from MA and Jalal, it was worth watching every minute of it with the actors giving their splendid performance.

As for your thought on MA's love, i feel its the immense love for control over Jalal on every angle emotional , political etc which was threatened by his growing love for Jodha that was slowly bringing out king's good humane soul.

Wish all the worst chaals of MA get exposed and even other traitors too, yes Jalal will be heart broken but we all know "Jodha lep" will be there very soon with him to heal all worst wounds.

Sunny, it was juts a virtually single scene episode, and yet it was so powerful, as you say, that we felt exhausted after watching it. So many layers to Maham and her unhealthy Jalal obsession. We have to admit that very bad people are definitely as interesting as very good people ... maybe more so!

Cleo, did you agree with my psychological analysis of Maham's unhealthy almost "romantic love" for Jalal that makes Jodha her "sauten" almost. I've been reading a lot recently about the psychology of saas-bahu hatred and how that could stem from the saas having an almost "in love" feeling about their own sons that make the daughter in law the "other woman". Would love your views on this angle. I know its a bit of a controversial assessment but since I recently read a lot about this I thought I'd add that in to see how the debate on this topic progresses.
