Today more than ever I was waiting for your analysis as the episode was fantastic for the sheer acting prowess of RT and AK.You've put everything beautifully but regarding the issue of how MA looks at this relationship with Jalal, I tend to disagree with you as I would call it an obsession and that MA was just trying to justify her actions by trying to divert Jalal's attention from her by venting out her frustrations on Jodha but it backfired on her. I may be wrong but enjoyed the episode and your write-up too. I go to sleep after I read your daily bytes on JA.Keep up your excellent writing skills.

I agree with almost your entire post, except this bit,

It is definitely an emotional connect ...but that's all, I think...this emotional connect gives her a feeling of power: that the Emperor turns to her for emotional support, & that is when she injects her venom into his emotional veins. She loved the emperor to be a puppet in her hands.

There is a difference between a mother-in-law having feelings of animosity for a daughter in law, & Maham having animosity for Jodha. A mother feels insecure because she is scared that the wife may now usurp the "most important woman" position in her son's life, who she dearly & unconditionally loves.

Maham has felt insecure about Jodha because Jodha was helping Jalal to think for himself, to distinguish between the right & the wrong. Jalal was slowly coming out of the evil drugging effect that Maham had injected into his veins since childhood. He was now NOT turning to MA as often for emotional connect, as in the past before Jodha's entry into his life. On the contrary, he was turning to Jodha for that, which was further flushing away Maham's influence on Jalal's mind. So Maham wanted Jodha out of Jalal's life before Jodha could complete this 2way detoxifying process of his mind.

I definitely don't think it borders on the "wifely kind of love". It borders on the kind of love that we have for our animal pets...who we love & feed ...& who ONLY have us for EMOTIONAL support...one may be a criminal, a murderer, a terrorist...but his pet will ONLY love him & turn to him for a cuddle.

Your analysis seems spot on all the issues that you have pointed out in the jalal-maham relationship...

I wanted to add though, that throughout yesterday's episode of Maham confessing openly, my heart went out to Jalal the child, the young boy who was facing this...💔

I wouldn't want anybody to go thru that...a mother's place in anybody's life is sacred...and somebody (real or foster mother) using it to further their own interests is debilitating to say the least...

Jalal had a tough life...nobody to call his own. I guess that was the price he paid to be the shahenshah..

Jodha will definitely give him that solace, peace and contentment that he has been kept away from successfully by Maham and Bairam Khan...

This event has deepened his trust and faith in Jodha but sadly she is not there by his side...

Hoping and praying that Jalal gets sukoon in his life by the presence of Jodha...
