Mandy, Abhay and I are consistently saying that pls chk the correct historical records for a reason.

Ruqs really has not been mentioned beyond a passing anywhere - and that means there is a reason for her being sidelined - and of all Akbar's wives, the ones mentioned in all the texts to have been women with power are Salima and MUZ.

On the one hand we want the makers to be historically accurate and on the other we also want Ruqs to be shown in a certain way - lets all decide what exactly we want and are wishing for.

Bold : Agree. So what IS the real story? Did Ruqs lose her earlier sagacity, became insecure and vindictive? It's understandable if this is the case, I'm willing to accept that Ruqs couldn't handle it. Nothing wrong with losing it when threatened by a new status quo. She is human after all. Somebody on this forum mentioned the Turkish series Muhtesem Yuzyil about Suleiman the Magnificent and his harem in the sixteenth century. A few episodes of that brought the realities of harem life as a shock to my system. It was harsh, although in very opulent surroundings. JA show is very very mild in comparison.

This is what I am saying Mandy - If we want them to be historically accurate regarding Akbar then we shd accept it for their portrayal of Ruqs and Jodha also. And as per Abhay's research, abolition of slavery had its seeds sprouting from the harem. So where is the inaccuracy as per history - yes lets complain regarding the presentation becoz that makes it seem lopsided.

Cuddly bear, It seems history and historical texts do not feature her as being very high on the list of women of importance. Which can only be interpreted to her having lost her prominence for some reason - and we cannot use the Akbar-Jodha relation as the reason since Salima was listed among the women of importance - and hence the interpretation that she may have lost her position due to her own self.

Adi, now this is a good starting point to draw conclusions from. So she must have upset Jalal regarding something and they fell out. But CVs are using AkDha as the sole reason for the fall out. Some creative licence here but I suppose we can live with it. ...except...I don't want Jallu to be involved in her tantrums any more. All relationships move on and evolve, let this be an end of him placating her. He's nor Mr overSensitive, just the Emperor with lots of things to occupy his mind.

maybe they will come round to showing that Ruqs' harem antics and autocratic ways sparked the slavery issue and bring it all to a nice neat conclusion. 😛 ... with Jodha being the linchpin in the middle who sees the problem and ... hopefully Jalal rectifies it and gets the credit, so that Mandy will be happy. 😆

Patience I suppose. Patience.
