A thought just occurred to me. This is possibly Jodha's third attempt at suicide.
1. When she came to know she was getting married to Jalal, she took out a ring that presumably contained poison to kill herself.

2. When Jalal wanted her to leave Agra and her mother didn't want her to return home.

3. I believe Jodha is such a high-strung person, she would have attempted suicide just on hearing Jalal's words of "ghrina" even if she didn't need to save his life.

Jalal will probably assign a special person to just keep tabs on her in future, esp every time they have a fight/MU. 😉

PS: Considering Jodha (and all her fans) feels so bad on hearing about Jalal's ghrina and rejection of her, she should ponder on how hurt Jalal should feel for her long period of ghrina and rejection (and not just on that night).

This attempt of Jodha is to save her husband from death. Not because he said the words he did.
I would not classify this as suicide.

I don't agree with the word "attempt" -
Jodha considered givng her life rather than having to marry Jalal, man she despised, it seems very natural reaction at that time to me.

Jodha only attemps suiside once when even her mother rejects her, remember at this time her relations with Jalal are bad since he had accused them all of harming Ruk & zinda jala denge etc.

Here Jodha is not doing suiside rather she is saving the life of her husband, she has no recourse left, if she did not drink that pyala he would have

I think her ghrina at the time of and after marriage was absolutely justified

Having made to marry man she hated for saving her Amer, man who tells her he married out of revenge, who considers her his jeet ki nishani and who does not want to dignify her by touching her - come on what was she suposed to feel?!!!! Gratitude?!

For me JA is special becuase both Jodha Jalal journey from that point to love, how it happened that is what we want to see

If Jodha had said you are my husband so I love you now after marriage??!!! Would that have been real or believable

I like the love story developing slowly this way

Jodha is temperamental and her attempts at suicide earlier were to do with her refusal to accept her situation. She couldn't find a way to reconcile 'pati' with Mughal Jalal.

But now things are different. She refers to him as her pati, herself as his begum. So this isn't suicide, this is more in line with duty.

Now we all wait to see if it is in fact more than duty. In the precap she hurriedly and tremulously repeats Jalal's hurtful words about not ever seeing her again. Was that just hurt pride? Or a heart that can't understand why it hurts so much to hear those words from him.

Dear PadBear,

You have a way with words. I really like this line:

Or a heart that can't understand why it hurts so much to hear those words from him.

This is what I am alluding to. Just as she is hurt to hear such words from him, will she understand how much he must have been hurt to hear such words (even if not the exact same) from her?

I understand she is not really committing suicide here. But what if she didn't need to save his life? Would she have accepted his rejection and gone on with her life (may be dedicated to Kanha like Meera) or would she have contemplated ending her life because life without him would be meaningless?

Dear Medha,

I second every word of yours. Again she hated him even more after Rukaiya MC track where he was all set to burn her and her brothers alive. Kills her sisters would be husband in name of war( Ok he wasn't good either, but she wasn't aware of it) .Absolutely her hatered for him was justified at that time. Yes and agree that she is not committing suicide ..shes sacrificing her own life to save her husband's ..Two different things...

I think she would have accepted his rejection and found solace in her Kanha.

Bold : Good point! She may start to see his hurt after she recovers from this hurt.

Hey Maddy, cool down. I love both of them and yes, they couldn't be shown as a happily ever after couple soon after marriage.

I am just wondering. Jalal had fallen for her and was trying in his own teda way to woo her and make her happy. Even if he didn't call his feelings love at that time. Even if Jodha's ghrina was justified, he must have hurt somewhere to hear her say so. Just as now, Jodha hasn't put a label on her feelings. But she feels hurt by his withdrawal.

It's an interesting way for a love story to develop. When one person is trying to reach out, the other is not interested. And then the tables are turned. It's natural to assume that when one is feeling something, we feel did that person also feel like this?

I was wondering what if? If Jalal's life was not in danger? How would Jodha take his rejection then?
