ruqqu was described in the book as she keeps tabs and control everything in the harem she knows who are pregnant even who has missed periods .she has spies everywhere she is very selfish .she does not care about anyone . she even gets nurjahan married to someone so that nurjahan can stay with her .she does not do any favor to anyone except akbar and salima .she does not like jagat gossin salim's wife so she takes way her son khurram from her as a baby as khurram does not even know jagat gossin is her mother she never lets him meet her mother . when he is 12 yrs old he knows she is his birth mother in that novel it is potrayed as ruqqu and akbar fell in love since childhood and they always want to marry . ruqqu is plain but potrayed as intelligent that akbar goes to her for all other matters as like new girl comes everyday in the harem so she controls other aspects .and in that book jodha was never mentioned and the author mentions salim's mother is hamida bhanu one line

in that book it is potrayed ruqqu is his true love he just marries or goes to other women for sexual needs . he is emotionally close to ruqqu .and salima jodha was not at all mentioned

but the book is about nurjahan she wants to be like ruqqu to control the king

in those days kings have liberty to take any women they want that is the reason the wifes try their best to control their husbands as beauty does not matter

this book was wriiten in 2001 .so ruqqu is already potrayed as grey shade so ekta is not doing anything new she is just increased the quotient to spice up the drama

Megha, you know one strange fact is that Ruku is not mentioned that much in Akbarnama while as much Salima is. Even in Jhangir diary he states her as his father's honored wife, and 2 -3 times speaks fondly of her. At the same time, primary chornicles do not mention a lot about Ruqu either. In a lot of chronicles, Salima and Hamida are mentioned as the negotiator for Jhangir's solidifcation for the crown. Ruqu is always mentioned with that Akbar's regret statment. Actually, one text i am reading right now paints Ruqu as more of a grey character, but lady with grace and elegance at the same time.

I am not sure if it was only audha, it could also be that she is used to that attention of Jalal exclusively for herself. She does show care for Jalal many times and I feel she genuinely cares. But may be she is too practical and does not know how to provide emotional support to Jalal. That's why Jalal is attracted to Jodha, he knows she is the one who can complete him!
Even after tiger fiasco he does not openly tell Ruqu it was wrong to do so..He ignores lot of Ruqu's mistakes also..The time is not far when Jalal will stop Ruqu when she puts down Jodha or denies her rights..

He had started to tell Ruq off when she said anything against Jo. For example, in the TAsneem case, when Jalal announced he would divorce Ruq, she started shouting at Jo. Then Jalal shouted at her to not to shout at Jo. Even after Shivani elopement, he defended Jo in front of Ruq when she showed him those letters.

I agree with you, the evidence of well will not be enough to get rid of Ben. You see she is Ekta ki khaas, we have to jhelofy her for this week.
