Loved reading your analysis, Shyamala. As much as I too liked the Samhaar style of bringing closure to Ben Shyamala,
I doubt it is how it will end.
Its the chanting of Jai Mata Kali that makes it seem real. A lot of times when the scene actually airs, they don't have the same background score..
So - for all we know it could be Benazir's dream thinking Jodha might be after her.
The real closure might be mid week after some further drama in front of everyone during the Nikaah ceremony.
Also it looks like Jodha and Saleema might go out in disguise in the interim (explaining Saleema in Moti's clothes) maybe trying to find some evidence/snakes.

Nancy my dear, I could not have asked for a more flattering or a more comprehensive review than this one. I loved it that you enjoyed all the parts that I myself liked the best.Thank you! And do write in more often, there is a good girl!

I have done 3 posts this last week, 2 because I wanted to, and one because there was of an imperative demand for it . But the one I really enjoyed doing was this last, and that was solely because of the precap. But for it, I would not have done this post only to chronicle Jodha's tears and tribulations.

It might seem childish, my dear, but I do SO want the precap to be true. It was so splendid and satisfying.

Besides, how they can have the splendid Durga dushtasamharini theme, with the Durga Stuti playing in the background, as 11192 has pointed out, and then say that the evil entity was merely injured? Maa Durga would get after the CVs with her trishul, that is for sure!😉

Jokes apart, they can have another crackerjack of a trial for Jodha, accused of murder by Mahaam, in the Diwan-e-Khas, and it will end in her being acquitted when Zakira is finally caught and "made" to talk. That will fetch the TRPs: there is nothing like the persecution of a courageous Durga-cum-Savitri to push them to stratospheric heights.

If anyone thinks that a Benazir writhing some more from withdrawal symptoms is going to top a trial for the TRPs, they must be dreaming ! So join me and keep your fingers too crossed for Benazir to be dead and gone!

So let us hope, you and I, that Benazir is gone for good, and the other shahi libaas they are brandishing as proof that she will be there much longer be damned!

If that does not happen, I will drop out for the next week at least, for I will be so badly cheesed off!

Destruction that is total, swift, brutal, inescapable and for good. The CVs seem to have started out with the Savitri theme , and ended up with a Durga, the Mahishasuramardini, and I loved it.. Wow! 👏👏👏

But as she approached him with glacial deliberation for the kiss of death, he looked sort of frozen and unable to move, like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a speeding car coming directly at it. LOL !😆
As Benazir would already have been fast forwarded to the particular dozakh that is her due, the only living source of proof of her vishkanya identity would be Zakira. Exactly !
(Zakira seems more dedicated to fulfilling their maqsad than even Benazir!), ROFL!😆
I so much agree with you on miscellaneous..Seriously! Have they got no army or a big boat..😕
I loved how you described Jodha's part !😳 Awesome post Aunty !! Loved it.. the details you give and the way you analyse them..get me 👏👏
Your PS left me with.. I don't think it will be a dream..but after reading some posts on forum, I was little surprised...! But then, after reading your PS..I am relieved! 😳

Thank you, Anu, but appati sollate ma!

It might seem childish, my dear, but I do SO want the precap to be true. It was so splendid and satisfying.

Anu, it cannot possibly be Benazir's nightmare. How would she know that Jodha is an excellent dhanurdhar, or teerandaaz, to be more precise? Only Jalal knows how good Jodha is as an archer, and the 5 arrows instead of the 3 at Amer were embroidery on the same point. If it is to be a dream, it has to be Jodha's.

That makes no sense at all, for there is no one in the boat with the vishkanya and Jalal, and Jodha would be on the bank. Who then would save him and how, unless he has been expecting it all along and has his khanjar out before she can kiss him?

And Jodha learns of the trip from Salima the same day, and it is that night. So when did she dream it, during her afternoon post-prandial nap? 😉

Jokes apart, I really and objectively do not see whose dream it could be.

As for the TRPs-related concerns, they can have another crackerjack of a trial for Jodha, accused of murder by Mahaam, in the Diwan-e-Khas, and it will end in her being acquitted when Zakira is finally caught and "made" to talk.

So Anu dearm join me and keep your fingers too crossed for Benazir to be dead and gone!

Aunty, I want PRECAP to be true only IF jodha can prove benazir as vishkanya without the need of jodha!s trial.I cannot watch another drama of jodha being accusedbjust like MC track. I hope somehow before benazir dies, she, herself lets jalal kniw that she is vishkanya. I really dont know how but then what r cvs for? I dont know may be she has change of heart while she is dying.

P.s. i would love if ur scenario is shown for real about you are safe shahensgah repeated four times with hug and tears.😃

Oh ya, i liked old moti better than this new one.

What an excellent post Aunty 👏. Your satire is a lovely morning dose of laughter for me! I loved the precap no matter how funny Jodha looked 😉 but they should have played "Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu, Shakti Rupena Samsthita Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namaha" in BG to give it a perfect feel of Mahishasurmardini. This Jai Kaali tune reminds me Shaguni Bai's Om Whreem Bhrriim 😆.
I too think it is a dream, even if Jodha would love to murder Benazir anytime, Salima would not let her do this stupidity especially when they don't have any proof against VK. And instead of doing these stunts Jodha should just lure Benazir with a tokari full of snakes and, I'm sure she will drool over it and run behind Jodha to snatch her khurak giving Jalal another heartbreaking dhakka and Jalal can just look dumbfounded and say Ailaa, Jodha begum aap sahi thi!!!!!!! Hame ye dhakka Qubool Hai! Qubool Hai! Qubool Hai! 🤣. Its better to leave it to Monday and I should just enjoy my weekends 🤪
Jodha-Moti scene was perfect but I'm loving Jodha in denial mode as I do not want Jodha to confess her love for Jalal to Moti or anyone else. This epic moment of confession should be reserved for Jalal and only Jalal. After All he has suffered a lot and for the first time Ekta's hero is going through more trauma than her heroin 😛. Jalal-Atgah scene could have been more perfect but as usual Rajat steals the show with his expressions and voice modulation. I somewhere felt his asking Atgah to do the wedding preparations within such short span of time has some hidden meaning.(I do not like confused men at all. I want him in action! bass 😭) .

Thanks for a great and funny take on yesterday's episode. It was much needed.

Folks,

I could not understand why the CVs have dispensed with the usual Friday night suspense, but I for one was glad they did.

That is one of the reasons I refuse to believe it is true. It doesn't seem like the CVs I know 😉 The more I think of it, it might be a symbolic promo that Jodha will destroy the evil Ben, stay tuned next week to watch how. If Jodha had to kill Ben, she could have done it so many times before but the point was to catch her in action and what was the point of Sharifudin's advice of keeping snakes away and wait for her to make a mistake.

Samhaar: There was Jodha Begum on the riverbank, hidden behind some foliage, and she had Salima behind her, literally and figuratively. She stretches the pratyancha (string) of her bow to its fullest, eyes glaring in total concentration, and lets fly. Five arrows, shot simultaneously, whiz thru the air in perfect formation, like the Sukhoi fighter jets at the final aerial display at the Republic Day parade. Jodha has obviously expanded the hunar she had displayed at Amer (3 arrows at a time) by 66.67% to make it 5, and all dead on target!

Cut to the boat, and there was Benazir, looking like a human pincushion, skewered by all the 5 arrows distributed over her torso, and keeling over in sudden death, her mouth open in shock and agony. Very filmy, or rather like something out the Mahabharata, but enormously appealing, nonetheless. So much more satisfying than Jodha interposing herself and blocking the kiss, or the pair of them, Salima and Jodha, disguising themselves and tailing Jalal and his khaas tohfa.

There is something in one's psyche, rooted in our epics, that calls, not for the legal punishment of great evil, but for its samhaar. Destruction that is total, swift, brutal, inescapable and for good. The CVs seem to have started out with the Savitri theme , and ended up with a Durga, the Mahishasuramardini, and I loved it..

I love this end but worry that it does not prove her to be a vishkanya. Further, this would have implications to the post- samhaar scenarios.

Post-samhaar scenarios: Now the question remains of how Jalal, who looked totally bewildered and (literally) at sea (well, yes, river, but one has to take a few literary liberties!) , will react to this sudden disposal of his khaas tohfa. Before Benazir was reduced to the aforesaid pincushion, he was looking at her with a very curious measuring gaze. But as she approached him with glacial deliberation for the kiss of death, he looked sort of frozen and unable to move, like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a speeding car coming directly at it.

It also remains to be seen if Jodha stands her ground or simply disappears, leaving Jalal to guess what happened : how, why and by whom? The latter option is a non-starter from the point of view of advancing our lo..ong-awaited "epic" love story. If Jalal does not know that is Jodha Begum who has rescued him for the very jaws of death, how will the mohabbat ka sailaab, that Sheikh Salim Chisti proclaims is going to sweep all ahead of it, materialize at all?

I also do not think Jodha will leave- but not to push the love story forward but because it is against her character. She always stands up for her actions for better or worse.

So it has to be the former. Given this, I would have wanted Jodha to follow the scenario I had outlined in my last post - to run straight to Jalal, embrace him tightly, and weep all over his blue velvet choga, babbling incoherently You are safe, Shahenshah, you are safe, you are safe, you are safe!!!! (I should actually have had her say Aapke praan surakshit hain, Shahenshah!, but then that is not an exclamation that can be repeated four times and still sound snappy. So I have stayed with the English version😉).

Jodha can still run to hug shehenshah once he reaches the banks. That would be an awesome scene. However, if Jalal does not know that Ben is a vishkanya then he will push her off as foolish and then we will have the Shove part II- part I is still unresolved- imagine how long part II will take.

But now, seeing that he is in a boat in midstream and she is on the bank, that is logistically impossible. If she were to hurl herself at him after he had come ashore, it would be anti-climactic.

The third and the worst option would be if he chooses to repeat his fishing expedition in the Agra palace pool, and jumps in to try and pull Benazir's body out of the water into which she must have toppled. In that case, neither of these moving Jalal-Jodha embraces would be feasible. And from my point of view, the whole post-samhaar sequence would have become a (literally!) damp squib😉!

Luckily, I don't think Rajat can jump in the water. He is still injured and it will get infected. He also knows what happened the last time he jumped in the water for Ben. 😉

Next, the whole procedure of proving that Benazir was indeed a vishkanya will have to be gone thru . This would be vital for making Jodha's skewering her a justified, preventive execution to save the life of the Shahenshah, and not a cold-blooded murder out of jealousy and spite, which is what Mahaam will make it out to be.. As Benazir would already have been fast forwarded to the particular dozakh that is her due, the only living source of proof of her vishkanya identity would be Zakira.

I thus hope that Jalal moves fast to have her seized as soon as he can get back to Agra. This might not be as easy as it would appear at first sight. Zakira would very likely have already fled, if not from Agra at least from the palace, as she would not be expecting Benazir to come back to the palace after assassinating the Shahenshah, but to disappear by diving from the boat into the water. So Zakira would have been given a specific meeting place where she would join the triumphant Benazir, and no one would know where that was to be .

There are too many ifs and buts, and one can do nothing but wait for Monday. But the saint of Ajmer gave me hope that things will be straightened out between Jalal and Jodha without any further complications, for he could hardly have been thinking of a pancha varshiya yojana for getting them together to begin writing their story on the pages of history in the mandatory sunehre akshar😉!

Salim Chisti gave me hope as well but everyone told me the CVs just tricked me and I fell for it.

Jodha and the divine passion: The earlier scene between Jodha and Moti was deliberately revelatory, almost stagily so. It was as if the scripwriters were now determined to force the Jalal ke liye Jodha ka prem card on us, like a conjurer doing a card trick. I had always suspected that it would be so!

Paridhi was excellent as the distraught Jodha, worn out by worry and her escalating fears for Jalal's life. Moti, by contrast, was a complete letdown, her flat, monotone voice reducing her extremely significant lines to something like a school essay learnt by heart.

Jodha's desperation comes across clearly, as her eyes constantly brim over and her voice cracks as she repeats frantically that she has to save the Shahenshah from the vishkanya whom he has now decided to marry. There is no resentment at this decision of his, only a frantic determination to prevent it and save his life.

She cannot explain why she is so desperate, when she will still not even concede that she sees him as her pati. The sophistry with which she seeks to make a distinction between the pati she will not acknowledge him to be, and the sowbhagya chhina whom she cannot allow to be killed, would be laughable if it were not so pathetic and unconsciously moving.

Her refutations of Moti's (flat enough to reduce one to despair. How one misses the old Moti!) assertions that she has begun to love her husband are almost mechanical, and she no longer berates Moti, as she used to, for going beyond her limits and treading on forbidden territory. This Jodha has no thoughts for anyone or anything but the Shahenshah, and the danger that threatens his life, as she curses her helplessness and her inability to avert this disaster.

So much so that she berates her beloved Kanha for being so unhelpful to her in her acute distress, despite all the fervent poojas and the bhog that she had always lavished on him. Kanha, who is a trikaladarshi and antaryami, knows even better than Sheikh Salim Chisti how things are going to turn out. So he continues to smile benignly on Jodha😉, driving her to even more aggressive complaints, and demands that he should protect the Shahenshah from the vishkanya.

By the time Moti arrives at The Shove - the first time anyone has seen this discussed, and so forthrightly, with Jodha - Jodha's mind is so totally preoccupied with the vishkanya that I doubt if she took in much of it. But I am sure what Moti expounded at length - that after that incident, Jalal had been always unsmiling and withdrawn and asantrusht, that she, Jodha, had never been happy either, that Jalal was marrying Benazir only to make Jodha jealous (not true, but it hardly matters in this context), that on his side too it was not ghrina or pratishodh but prem - would have registered somewhere in Jodha's subconscious, to be dug out and dissected later.

Even calling Jalal her sowbhagya china is progress. I loved Paridhi in this scene. The old Moti would have been more effective and less the lecturing type. Jodha stopped lecturing and now the new Moti has started.

The Jodha-Sharifuddin scene when she descends on him without notice in the prison (what kind of prison security is there when beshawled women can walk in and out at will and meet prisoners? ) also seems intended to make just one point : that Jodha loves Jalal deeply and is ready to do anything to save his life. Jealousy flares up in Sharifuddin's voice as he comments on this, till Jodha reprimands him and he reverts to his habitual, ingratiating manner. There is no other noteworthy outcome; the new method of exposing Benazir he suggests, by cutting off her supply of snake venom, might have worked if properly implemented, but that needs time. And after the discussion with the supportive Salima, Jodha realises that time is precisely what she does not have.

Whence, presumably, Jodha's decision to prevent any murderous move by Benazir by shooting at her with enough arrows to make sure she does not survive. Of course it has to be at the very last moment. At one second to doom, to be precise! It is was not so, where would the tension be?

Sharifudin's plan has to be of use so he can use it as his get out of jail card. How does this fit with the arrow killing- no clue! Your theory could work but doesn't prove the vishkanya. Unless the well she jumped in the other day turns out poisoned.

Jalal: Jalal, sadly for him, does not have even a flat voiced Moti, or rather the male equivalent thereof, who could fearlessly hold a mirror up to him and force him to face the truth. Atgah Khan is hardly a satisfactory substitute. So he is reduced to mooning about and remembering the pre-wedding sharts that Jodha had laid down for him. The exchange with Atgah Khan seems meant merely to make the point that Jalal too is very restless and equally uneasy, with the ever present hurt of his rejection by Jodha clouding his zehen like a miasma.

Rajat was amazing in this scene- his eyes spoke volumes.

In the scene with Hamida, Salima and later Benazir, Jalal, though pleasant and accommodating towards Benazir, looks detached and weary of his impending nikaah and much else.

This apart, Adiana and I seem to have lost out in our pretzel contest, for Jalal seems to have had no idea that it was Benazir who was Abul Mali's secret weapon, not to speak of her being a zahreeli dosiza. Unless of course the CVs do a conjuring trick next week, and make out that he knew the score all the time and was only stringing Benazir along. It does not seem at all likely now, but then, like Napoleon, the CVs do not have the word impossible' in their dictionary (and it is not a Chennai Express style bakwaas dictionary!😉)

The rest of the episode was nowhere near as significant as the above: the Benazir-Zakira conversations (Zakira seems more dedicated to fulfilling their maqsad than even Benazir!), Benazir coming to ask Jalal to accompany her to the dargah across the Jamuna from Agra, the Mahaam-Ruqaiya love feast (the CVs have now completed their hatchet job on Begum Ruqaiya Sultan, though her fierce loyalty to hamare Jalal is as strong as ever), and finally, the important Hamida-Salima meeting, which paves the way for Salima to offer to help Jodha, and thus for the duo to end up at the river bank that cold winter night.

Miscellaneous: For all her aseem husn, Benazir does not look at all begum-like even in full regalia. I was reminded of the old saying that you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Hoshiyaar seems to still suffer from a terminal case of foot in the mouth disease.

Why on earth would Jalal and Benazir cross the river in a smallish boat with apparently no armed escort? Surely they would have a large enough boat to accommodate them all?

What lies ahead: So we have finally arrived, it seems , at the gateway to the amar prem kahani that we signed up for. At least so I hope. If this too turns out to be a mrigtrishna, it would be a very sad disappointment. But I do not think it will. Not now, not with all the build up by Sheikh Salim Chisti.

It will seem very odd for a while, to have Jalal and Jodha being civil and sensible at the same time, for till now , it has been, alternately, the one or the other, but never both😉. But I am sure we will all soon get used to it, till the next falling out between our duo materializes. Not too soon, I hope!

In the immediate future, one thing is for sure. Jodha, this new Jodha, is not going to be cold or distant with Jalal for not having believed her about Benazir. She will be too limp with relief at his being safe now, and too lighthearted at being freed at last from the crushing burden of the last few days, for her to sulk. But it will be very interesting to see how their first post-Benazir conversation goes!

Shyamala B.Cowsik

PS: I see that there is a strong current of opinion in the forum that the shooting of Benazir is a dream. I do not think so, in good part because of the pointed connect between that and Jodha's 3 arrow display at Amer. If, however, it does turn out to be a dream, any alternative sequence will be far less satisfying. As for me, I have already had a lot of fun with the title and this post!😉

As for the fears that Jodha will not be able to prove that it was justified since Benazir was a vishkanya, Jalal can surely get his men to force Zakira to talk!

Can Jalal really get the loyal Zakira to talk? At this point- Jalal's administrative and security capabilities have become a joke. He doesn't know Ben is spy which even sharif knows and he has no clue who his own Begum is meeting. When Moti was in jail, it was impossible for Jodha to meet her - now what happened😉

Dear Aunty,

Unexpected (as we had one just yesterday) and delicious post. More delicious as it was unexpected.
Nowadays precaps are more interesting than the episodes themselves
We had the dhakoslabaazi a couple of days ago and now this. I loved it and after a long time I was clapping hard for Jodha. She is on an upward swing ever since the Mughal Khaandaan ki Begum.
Shivaani has done unto Jodha what the suicide fiasco had done unto Jalaal. Given her a sense of belonging and pehchaan with him. The penultimate barrier broken. The ultimate being the final acceptance of the truth that she is scared to face as of now. Her conversation with Moti was very revealing, a much needed one to confirm her amar prem, many symptoms of which were bursting forth uncontrollably-fear, anxiety, helplessness, anger due to it, concern, tears... Pari was good.
But Rajat did not need even that conversation to reveal what he felt. His eyes and face conveyed it all. And the flashback - What more does she want from me...why is that nothing I do is sufficient to win her...his frustrations, helplessness, disappointments and confusions at what he felt - we can forgive him for his frozen brains.😆(Wish he had Abdul with him - he would have hinted and even explained to his Shahenshah. Atgah sahib just nodded as usual😕).
Romance came through so well in yesterday's episode even when the duo were not in the same frame. Both of them were emotionally somewhat 'ek hi kashthi pe sawaar' for the first time.
Coming back to the flashback - wasn't she the Jodha that we longed to see😳? Courageous, determined, feeling-ful, ,(not the stick-rigid emotionally-blank blinkered nitwit that she was these recent months) ...the very girl who was demanding for Jalal ka sar to Kaali Maa became a Kaali Maa herself to protect the very Jalal ka sar and was all set to vanquish the evil mercilessly (no concern for pashu-pakshi when they are not nirdosh😆).
I'll want to samhaar the CVs if this turned out to be a dream.😡
As for the outcome, whether jodha stays or vanishes, whether she has proof witnessed by Salima before she set out to Samhaar or did not, murder trial, temple of Jodha Devi (😲 - that she was in the precap), completion of the vampification of Ruqaiya (Her spirit IS going to dhaaran Kaali Maa roop and vadh the CVs for sure) or the thinnest door-matification of Jalal, ...we'll have to wait and see.
P.S: Like money speaks the language people of all nationalities understand, TRPs speak the language that all CVs understand. Hope they do away with Ben for good. (She looked like her puke- so awful in Begum Libaas.) I'm not too sure about the Salim Chisti part. It looked suddenly interjected to lure the audience hoping for romance back to the show...like a promise of lollipop to a child.
PS: Is the murder trial what Salim Chishti referred to as black clouds that will relolve itself soon with the help of Jalal's brains that get on high alert when it comes to Jodha 😔

Dear Shyamala Aunty, You seem very different in this post. More positive than you normally are 😊 or did I misread your emotions? (as per your normal complaints about us not understanding what you really meant at times. Not understanding the satire and sarcasms. I am confused a bit with this post). I myself felt that the precap was over the top even for Ekta's standard. I was surprised that you were happy with that😲.

As I posted in Mansi's thread, my theory about the precap is as follows:

Jodha trying to kill Ben with arrows has to be a dream. I do not think that Salima would have approved that plan of hers mainly because that will put Jodha in trouble. There will not be any way of proving Ben a Vishakanya (how will Ben wear the Nikah costume if she died now?). I think the actual boat ride will be uneventful. May be Salima goes with Jalal and Ben as Bandi. She will accompany Ben in the boat whereas Jalal goes in a different boat. They come back and Zakira would have fled the palace as Ben was not going to come back after killing Jalal. In the absence of Zakira, it would be more easier for Jodha/Salima duo to make sure that she does not get her daily dose of poison. On the day of Nikah (before the nikah), Ben will try to kill Jalal and Jodha saves him from her. In the process Jodha gets bitten and will get effected by the poison and Jalal will accept his love for Jodha (at least to himself) when Jodha is in serious condition. As Ben 's poison was not so strong at the time she had bitten, Jodha will recover later.

I don't think your wish of Jodha running to Jalal and hugging him may not happen as she falls down to ground after Ben bites her. But do not get disheartened 😉. May be she tells "Shahanshaah, thank God you are safe!!" when she is unconscious and Jalal sitting there near the bedside might hear her blabbering and might get really touched by this 😊.

Leaving the precap out and if I have to talk about the episode, the first scene of Moti/Jodha and Atgah/Jalal was a really good one. May be the best scene of this week. Both Paridi and Rajat acted so well in this scene. I was also thinking that the scene would have been much better if the old Moti was there. Wait, why I have started my cribs again. I had decided to only talk about the positive aspects in an episode now onwards...The last scene which showed the way Jodha was relieved after getting to know there is at least one person who is at her side (that too the smart and mature Salima whom Jodha believes the most) was good. She was so happy that there is one person who can help her in her "Save Shahanshaah from Naagin" mission. It's actually very difficult to think straight when you are alone. Just the thought that there is another person with you at the time of crisis, will sharpen your brain lot more. I could see the same thing happening to Jodha in last scene and Paridi's acting was very good in that.

Actually one more thought came to me yesterday. We have seen that whenever CVs show very bad episodes for some time, even an average episode receives lot of praise (more than it deserves). I was thinking why should not we employ this in our lives too (I told this in Lashy's thread also). Do not do your work properly for a month. Your boss will be frustrated with you to the core. Do little bit better in the next month and your boss will be very pleased with you. You will probably get more praise than if you had done great job consistently. I know I am getting bad ideas by CVs of Jodha Akbar. Please do not take me seriously, I am just kidding here😉.
