Here, it's one 'koka', though there were many.
This is Mirza Aziz Koka, son of Atgah Khan, and nephew of Qutub-ud-din Koka.
He was strong supporter of Khusrau, and was father-in-law of Khusrau.

And, he ONLY taught Salim initially. He was well versed in many languages, a man with multiple talents. Man Singh and Mirza Aziz Koka, both fought many times for Akbar.
And, he was Khan-e-Azam, the title Akbar conferred on him, not Khan-e-Khanan.😊
It was Rahim.

And, yes, it was Mirza Koka's sister/ Ataga's daughter who was married to Rahim, named Mah/Mai Banu Begum. Yes, Salima Begum had a 'great' role in getting Mirza Koka out of prison.

Thanks a lot Abhay!! 😃 . I think there is one more koka 😆 😆subhedar of bihar/bengal whom Ali Quli killed 😕 ..and this koka was most probably the same koka MEB is talking about...Jahangir's beloved friend-cum-advisor.

Yes that Koka was Salim's childhood friend! He was the Emperor's beloved friend & he was killed apparently by Noor Jehan's husband.. Sher Afghan Khan or rather, Aki Quili Istaaju.

The title was given to him by Jehangir after an important battle, I think after the one with Mewar? he was also the Jagirdaar of Bardwaan in Bengal & of course, the future Empress Noor Jenhan (Meherunissa at the time) husband. 😊

I mentioned Mewar because it was definitely the richest & politically the most powerful. Yes, Amer was very, very rich. All of them were! 😆 but I wasn't talking about their wealth, rather thier political significance.

Yes Mewar was ALWAYS at logger-heads with Mughal India but I gave that as an example because of what I've read & told.

Now, after so much time i understood, why you mentioned your lineage here.. In that comment, i was not asking this, but only the reason for mentioning Mewar. BTW, i also have an immensely strong connection of similar type with this state, though i don't like disclosing more. And, that's one of the "common" reasons, i also get this info.😊

Abhay, (please don't get irritated with my questions 😆) I'm reading a translated version of Ain-E-Akbari and it says Maham was in Delhi and she was already sick when Adham died, she thought Akbar must have imprisoned him and after arriving Agra she got to know Adam's death and she said 'You have done well, Your Majesty' and left the hall. So HB, Maham and other ladies of Humayun's harem were leaving in Delhi and not in Agra as shown in serial ?

😊.

It had to be mentioned even though I don;t like mentioning it.

The veracity of the information given , can thus be ascertained.

But I am in no way related to Mewar. But the fact that it was the most powerful politically, is highly common knowledge!!

As for wealth- Yes, all were IMMENSELY WEALTHY. But politically , Amer was very small. And that's what I meant.

Therefore I just gave that as a hypothetical example , in no way did I mean that some Mewar lady was a wife of Akbar because that was impossible & never took place. 😆

No, from what I know, they lived in Agra.

Abul Fazl says that the trauma of her son's death was too much to take & a little over a month later, she passed away.

The Mughal ladies lived in Agra in the Agra Fort.

But hey Abhay,did the entire Harem also go to Kashmiri summer, hunting trips etc or was it just limited to the closest to the Emperor?

I hear it was only the closest.

Guys, will be back later sometime.
My prof. has loaded me with lot lot of work, to be completed soon.

@shweta

HB, MA etc. Mughal ladies were in Agra only. Even after 2nd battle of Panipat, they came straight from Kabul to Agra, not in Delhi. MA was in Delhi when Bairam-Akbar tussle started and akbar left on pretext that he was going on hunting.

But, she stayed in Agra. She paid visits to delhi as she had a mosque and madrasa there- Khair ul Manazil Masjid.

And, yes MA was unwell, before Adham's death and at that time she was resting in her room. More details later. BTW, the book you mentioned ''should'' be Akbarnama not Ain-i-akbari..? I feel. 😕 . Anyways, possibly you are reading some other translation. Pata nahi. Maybe possible. 😊 . But please see if that is Akbarnama. Would like to know.

@MEB
yes,
It was his 'khaas' who went for such leisure trips, mostly, Gulbadan Begum has also 'used words' that say the 'important harem ladies' moved on such trips. I have to read again to be more specific. Will post later. 😊 . And, also regarding Mewar and Amer, later. 😉
